I used to look forward to and finally buy the Knight and Hale Spring Turkey Hunting videos every Spring! I have their book too-- Ultimate Turkey Hunting. Starting out in 1990-- Harold Knight and David Hale were my heroes also!!

Using two strikers, one in each hand, on a glass call, works great to mimic fighting turkeys. If your glass call doesn't seem to work well, take a piece of sandpaper, or a small sandstone rock to scratch it up in two directions perpendicular to each other. Gives it a great raspy sound. You can rough up the ends of your strikers as well. Wood strikers sound great, but if they get wet, they are worthless while damp. You can use a mouth call and a glass call at the same time to sound like two different hens yelping at the same time. As the season comes close to the end, calling and decoys can be absolutely worthless, and even cause educated turkeys to shy away from you. Setting up to bushwack a gobbler traveling between its roost and the fields may be the only way to have success. If they are roosting at the edge of the field, you may have to slip in off to one side and set up well before daylight.
