- Hi!
I really like the natural look of jute in an interior. I still had an ugly plant pot that could use a nice sleeve. In this tutorial I explain how you can make this plant basket yourself. It is very simple and the result is impressive.
I used about 150 grams and 350 meters of jute twine and a 6 mm. crochet hook. My plant pot is 26 cm. or a little more than 10 inches in diameter and height.
The pattern is in US terms.

This is the best video on making jute planters. Study and washable. All others are just sticking ropes with adhesives. What is the thickness of this twine?
Thank you!! Glad you like it! The thickness wasn't on the yarn label but I guess it is a DK or a number 3.
I came across your site this morning. I had been looking to buy some pot covers but what you made is far more appealing and can be made to suit the size of the pots I have. Thank you so much for such a clear, easy to follow tutorial. Kindest regards from the U.K.
You are so kind, thank you! Very happy to hear you like the design and tutorial. Have fun crocheting!
Great tutorial, thank you!

So nice
😍
👍🏻✨do you move from a project to another
you started the first project with pink thread
and all of a sudden you changed to the jute crochet..
would you please explain
It is the same pattern for the bottom but with the pink yarn I can show the stitches better. After the stitch is clear I continue in jute yarn. So the pink yarn is only for the explanation of the stitch. Work the whole pattern with the jute yarn and your basket will look beautiful!
Mine is rolling up and looks like a funnel, wont lay flat help.....
Hi Deborah, that's annoying. Do you mean the bottom or the sides that resemble a funnel? If it is the bottom then you can solve this by making more increases in the rounds when the circle is no longer flat. And check after every round whether it is still flat. And for the sides you may have accidentally increased instead of the same number of stitches every round? You can solve this by marking your first stitch and last stitch with a stitch marker. It can also be due to the tension that you will crochet more tight or loose as you continue. Hope this helps! If not let me know.
Hi this is very nice. What was the size of your jute twine? Thanks
Hi Jennifer, there is no size mentioned on my jute twine, but the diameter of the yarn is about 2 millimeters and has about 40 meters per 100 grams. You can search for these terms and you will find yarn with the same thickness. Hopefully this will help you. The plant basket is very beautiful and a fun and fast project. I'd love to see your results!
