  • Bats are incredibly important for plant pollination and as major seed dispersers, especially in tropical ecosystems. Insectivorous bats eat thousands of insects. Some bats even catch fish or frogs. Here are basics of bat biology.
In this older Naturalist Outreach video, Alyson Brokaw, explains the basics of bat biology. Alyson is currently working on her Ph.D. on acoustic and auditory communication in bats (see www.alysonbrokaw.com for more info about her work), and will spend her career working with bats. This Naturalist Outreach video was produced by Dr. Linda Rayor with support from Cornell Cooperative Extension and New York State 4-H.
