  • "Christ the Lord has Risen Today" being played on the 1932 four manual Aeolian chancel pipe organ at Duke Chapel on the Duke University Campus in Durham, North Carolina.
The introduction/processional to the hymn was pure improvisation, followed by the written hymn music.
Note the incredible acoustics of Duke Chapel on the final chord. The reverberation time is about 6.5 seconds. The choir and nave vaulted ceilings were sealed to improve sound reflection and help minimize the frequency at which people speak at to reduce muddiness.

The audio was recorded with a Tascam DR-40 using the built in stereo microphones. It was recorded from the crossing, about 40-50 feet from the organ chambers.
Photos were taken by Sam Cherubin with Sony A3000.
