When I found this on Marketplace for free, I was pretty excited. If you've seen my other makeovers, you'll know that I've done a few 'faux' drawer projects where I create the illusion of there being more drawers than there really is; this time, I had 30 real drawers to work on. This was quite the time consuming process, from cutting them all to the same length, sanding off the paint, smoothing all the edges, and cleaning the insides. However, time consuming does not necessarily mean difficult. The real challenge of this project was in cutting the body's depth down from 28 inches to 21 inches. I actually went out and purchased a reciprocating saw to accomplish this; I don't know if there may have been a better way, but after a lot of contemplation, that's the method I landed on. The cuts didn't turn out the cleanest -- at least not clean enough for me to want to present it as the front of the piece -- so I resorted to taking off the back panel and electing that as the new front of the piece, while covering up the side that I had just butchered.
If you enjoyed this makeover, please do me a favor and like the video. And if you have any questions, I would be happy to answer your comments.
Thank you for watching :)

I'm fan of Vessi shoes and own several pairs.
Looks pretty, but you really should have written on the new back when you installed it.
Wow, this furniture restoration video is absolutely captivating! The level of skill and craftsmanship displayed here is truly awe-inspiring. I'm in complete awe of how this piece of furniture has been transformed with such care and attention to detail. Amazing work! 👏🔨✨"By the way, I have a hunch that the bird's call you heard could be from an Eurasian bullfinch. While they are considered rare in Canada, they do exist in North America, and they are quite common in my home country, Norway. It's fascinating to think that their melodic calls might have reached your ears all the way over there. Nature has a way of surprising us! Keep exploring and enjoying those beautiful bird encounters.
Did you find out what kind of bird that was?
And the piece is absolutely breathtaking!!!
The majority opinion seems to be blue jay :)
Love your touches of humor. Love the silence. Love no annoying music dubbed in. Love the fact that you don't explain anything verbally. Perfect video.
+1 to not having annoying music!
Agreed!
I like to know what he’s doing and why.
Oh I completely agree with you.
I read this comment right after “mmm donuts” was dubbed in. It had me giggle a little
the little touches of humor really does make this video better than others
Gosh this piece makes me happy. Something about lots of little functional pieces, from drawers, to doors, to wheels, is delightful. I love the touch of adding old newspaper as labels, and very pretty finish. Lovely!
You are not just a master woodworker. You’re also one of the best filmmakers I’ve seen. 👍
ROFL ... master woodworker.
@@dac9500 hundred percent agree, the filmmaking makes it so worth watching. and I also love the touches of humour and the little animal vignettes - my favourite maker
@@vicki-annthornton8330 I was ROFL because the previous person actually used the words "master woodworker". I didn't see one in this video! LOL!
@@zlatan_2197 Having no friends or family must be difficult for you. But try not to lash out at complete strangers. Now go back in your hole.
Agree!!
I absolutely love how you bring out the natural elements of the wood you work with, it's absolutely stunning and so rare to see anymore
It's been said many times but I'll say it again: the humor in your editing is great. The H2O joke and the surprise staple gun shots were my favorites this time
I know, I was thinking oooh a chemical, wait a minute....
This transformation was unbelievable! Stunning furniture makeover. Your creativity is astounding!
I love your artistic & cinematic way that you edit & film! It's different from any other restoration videos I've seen
Me too!! 💟
This was so great to watch from start to finish. Your camera and restoration skills are fantastic! Absolutely fascinated with the drawer pulls and antique newspaper clippings.
While you were working on this piece, I was think about how perfect it would be for your workshop. You have so many small parts tucked away for later use in new pieces. But when I saw the finished piece I realized that no one would even consider damaging such a work of art by using it in such a way. Thank you so much for sharing your artistry with us!!
Damaging it by using it for its intended use? Are you on drugs?
@@smashyrashythe way the front was gutted damaged it
I've been looking forward to a new restoration from you. I absolutely love what you create. Always beautiful looking pieces!!!
Not just the pieces! The videos themselves as artifacts! Here is a genius.
Not just the pieces! The videos themselves as artifacts! Here is a real genius. I ought to know; I've been called one myself. I'm not
@@susanprendergast7384 I have to agree with you, his videos are really incredible and he creates such exquisite pieces of art!!
Why do I watch you? Your awonderful skils at transforming a piece of furniture and bringing it back to life in such an unique way, and of course the video itself, great humour.Wish I could skateboard backwards
Another fantastic transformation. I enjoy the fact you take fairly low quality pieces of furniture and turn them into something we all want.
Absolutely stunning - a joy to watch. Someone will be the proud owner of a fabulous piece of furniture that will be enjoyed for many years to come. Congratulations on a job superbly done.
Hi Andy, welcome back.
Being Ontario the bird must be a Blue Jay, surely...
I've now completed my first set of drawers and have a garage full of pieces waiting to be refurbished. Thanks for the idea and inspiration...
Thanks for the bird ID. I've just been listening to recordings of blue jays on my bird app (we don't have them in the uk), they have such a diverse repertoire and the "whisper song" of a blue Jay is so strange, it sounds like someone throwing a load of springs into a piano and giving it a shake 😅
Your filming and editing skills are superb!
Awesome to see you guys interacting in the comments!! I love both of your channels!
Your work is magic and there is no argue about that. But this fascinating edit makes your videos 1000x more interesting😍😍
Your work and editing jobs are always flawlessly executed. Great job!
I really appreciate how you insert that small pieces of memory of the old furniture into the „new“ one! Everything has a past ❤
This is amazing! I hope the person who gave it away sees this video so they know this piece gets a second life!
Came for the restoration, stayed for the video editing! Even your ads are entertaining and relaxing. Well done.

Wow. What an effort and what a result. Absolutely love it! Also love your accuracy and empathy! Those casters give lightness to the heavy appearence of the furniture. Very good job
I think you're the only channel where I've watched every video. Its fascinating watching how you transform these old pieces. I don't know anything about woodwork lol.
Would you ever do videos where you make your own furniture from scratch?
That means a lot ❤️ I think maybe one day.. I think the closest to making my own furniture was in my video where I turn a single drawer into a nightstand
You never cease to amaze! Thanks for being an inspiration!✨💚✨💚✨
Wow. Although I found the "before" quite cool in a way, the "after" is absolutely incredible. I found myself saying, "WOW" out loud at the reveal. What a super cool piece. That was such a good idea to cut it down. LOVE your editing as always, including the skateboarding clip. 🛹
aside from your obvious amazing work with the furniture, your editing skills are sooo good, you make your videos super entertaining!! also i love your sense of humor lmao
Every time. Every single time, I'm blown away at your dedication and art. These things take an immense amount of time and patience and I admire your work ethic! It's a beautiful piece, keep it up! ☺️
A VERY creative piece! I love how it looks rustic yet quite fancy. The use of the old newspaper scraps was a very clever idea. Turned out wonderful.
You're always so creative with your restorations, and with the way you share your work with us. It's not just about the process, but about the story of the piece itself. I honestly get a grin on my face whenever I get a notification that you've uploaded a new video. Thank you for your hard work!
Saw a new video of yours - had to watch immediately
I admire your level of skill and the amount of work you not only put into your restorations but also into editing the videos to be extremely pleasing.
Thank you so much for sharing this, it really inspires me and gives me peace
I'm about to do my first project, a doll house restoration! It's a doll house from when I was little, my younger cousins have grown out of it. You've inspired me to restore it.
Absolutely love your work ❤
Did you start on the doll house?
Hi Andy, I accompany you here from Brazil. I'm passionate about your work, I love the way your videos are produced, from the technical aspects of woodworking, humor and even your sensitivity in observing nature. Simply amazing, congratulations :)
It’s a perfect day when your videos appear! Nick Offerman would be proud of your work! Xx
Another beautiful makeover! Your creative vision never ceases to amaze. And your videography and editing skills…well, you should you ever tire of restoration they’d be lining up to hire you. Bravo and thanks for another great one❤️☮️
Precisely! I was thinking that Andy's "ad" for Vessi shoes was probably classier, more effective and overall more professional than what they get their advertising department to do! They must think they've hit the jackpot!

Andy you are part chemist. Part engineer but, 100% genius! This is a masterpiece Sir!
You are truly an artist! You are not only one of the best wood workers I’ve ever seen, but you have an exquisite eye for detail! 👏👏👏
Very special piece of furniture! The same kind of piece would sell here in Scandinavia for at least 1500 dollars. If not more. With you work done to it, i bet it would be worth more than that. I hope the value is even greater in your area! Good job, so inspiring to watch and your videography is leveling up by every video. Thank you for sharing and being a true inspiration!
Beautiful! When you first brought out the butane, I thought you were gonna set that thing on fire. I’m glad I was wrong, it came out beautifully! I can’t believe that’s the same piece.
What a Stonking piece of workmanship , I take my Hat off to you S.
I love the vintage look... it is beautiful and functional... I hope it becomes your family's heirloom furniture and enjoyed by many generations to come...
One of THE most beautiful pieces of furniture I have ever seen!!! 😍
Wow, that piece started out so rough, what a transformation. Thank you for sharing your work and your talent.
I agree with everyone: you have a gift for making an old cabinet look new and your video editing is on point.
Having said that, there's a big market for antique cabinets that are preserved rather than restored. Preserving the visual history of the piece while making it functional and durable is something I would have liked to see you tackle.
Wunderschön !!!! Handwerk hat eben immer noch goldenen Boden. Man muss es nur wollen und verstehen ....
Now I too want to know what kind of bird that is! Very lovely sound. And your work is amazing too as usual. 🪶🦉🦜
That was awesome to watch. You are so good at what you do. It’s a pleasure watching the progress from beginning to end. Your talent knows no bounds for such a young guy. I can’t imagine what you will create in the future. You have many, many years to dazzle us.
What a great FB find! I always love watching your process and seeing how a piece turns out, this one looks amazing!
Gorgeous. Just gorgeous. Makes me want to stash tools, gadgets, and odds and ends in it right now. Thank you for the wonderful video! Appreciate your skills across the board.
Oh my goodness!!! Absolute work of art. You’re a genius. You Sir should have your own business selling one of a kind pieces.
I Love this! The color, the wheels, everything. It always make me happy when what looks like a drawer Is actually a drawer instead of a big false front. I think you did an absolutely Stellar job on this Sir :-)
Fantastic!! Always enjoy your videos, just enough explaining without chatting the whole way through! Peaceful and relaxing. Thank you
This turned out really really beautiful!
I find your videos so informative and therapeutic. Beautiful transformations with no loud music or narration. Really appreciated.
Your videography is outstanding, this piece is captivating. How you come up with your ideas is fantastic, thank you for sharing your skills.
You do not disappoint-that is an amazing transformation! I especially like the difference tones of the drawer fronts and the old newspaper inserts is a great idea. I would love to have this in my house! 🌟
And…I’ll be checking out those shoes.
This is absolutely stunning piece. ❤❤
5:20 chefs kiss on that editing
I am always mesmerized by your videos. The restoration work, filming the video, and your editing are impeccable. I try not to blink so I don't miss one thing. You are a true genius!!!! I cannot wait until the next project!!!! Thank you!!!
I think this one is my favorite piece yet. Simple ply made into a timeless piece. You are so extraordinarily talented and your aesthetic is flawless.
Favorite piece so far. Absolutely stunning. Can't believe you flipped a free piece into this
Finally🎉 a new restoration video from Andy. Beautiful work!!
All dressed up like real furniture! Looks like that lot of work was well worth it, it is beautiful and you just enhanced its vintage features!
October 27, 1927 - My Dad was 1 year and 10 days old. This piece is stunning. Well done.
Ohh its a masterpiece 😍 and so is your videos
that last touch with the newspaper made it so much better! ❤
I'm actually looking for something pretty much just like that. It makes great storage for small business owners!
Finding that for free is insane. I've been looking for one for over a year and can't get anything under 200$
You’re working so fast! And i’ve learned some usefull tricks here, like the toothpick hole filling.
Your work is extraordinary and your yard is beautiful, too!
You've transformed it from a piece ready for the scrap heap to a piece you'd see at a pricey, trendy furniture store for $$$$s. Really great job, as usual, even down to the finishing touches 👏 👍
Absolutely in love with this cabinet. You are so talented, you take such care in every step. You took something destined for the landfill and made it an heirloom piece.
This is beautiful!!!
Simply stunning, Andy! You are truly talented.
Great redo on this! I’m glad you kept it rustic and cleaned up the parts that needed fixing. Love the old newspaper details and caster wheels 👍
I found my new obsession. Your videos are very soothing and the patience you have is remarkable. It makes me want to use my hands a little more often ☺️
Amazing piece of restoration as is your superlative standard. You deserve at least a million subscribers, you’re by far the best on YT… 🙌🏼
I typically avoid ads when watching videos on CZcams, but this time I kind of enjoyed watching it :) Of course your work is amazing as always.
I watch a lot of furniture restoration videos! Your work is fantastic and the editing of your videos is the best! Keep them coming!
I saw what this was: I thought, ‘he is gonna make that really cool’, and then, ‘that is a lot of work right there!’ Correct on both counts! I want this piece!!❤❤ Almost forgot: I love the creativity you put into filming-each video is a work of art!
You have a great imagination. This was beautifully done.
Wow, gorgeous piece! Lots of work. That newspaper was a great choice for a finishing touch 🤩 Love your creativity
That looks so good. I loved the slight angle on the front bottom base plate. So many nice little touches 😊
Wow never seen anyone having so many different subtitles! That's great I appreciate that
An absolutely remarkable makeover. You skills and imagination are unmarried
You amaze me! I drop everything I’m doing when you post a video. I have to watch!!
Love it. ❤️ I love the varying tones trick. Adds interest.
Great reminder that even an old plywood storage/work cabinet can be made look fantastic.
I'd love to see some 50's restoration
Love the way you rebuild the furniture and the way you film. Always wonderful 💕
uhh, and awesome videos, i always enjoy them. I'm a Carpenter from Germany, and always want to go and restaurate something myself when i see your videos :D
Cut a hole in a playing card and put it over the dowel when sawing. It will reduce marring. Great video and amazing restoration!
Very peaceful and enjoyable watching you transform this piece. Very beautiful as usual.
beautiful work as always. love the vintage newspaper touch. really adds character
I woud love to buy that piece! You really did a beautiful job restoring it to a useful storage & necessary piece for storage ! 😊❤
I swear to anyone who’ll listen; if I had the money, the transportation cost and the space, that would be in my home right now. Truly stunning piece of furniture ✊🏾
I hope that when I get my own house I can make this so I can put all my art supplies, this is such a clean and aesthetically made furniture, my favorite one so far
Oh my GOD. this is simply amazing dude, the dedication to the project and it turned out so so good!! You are so talented, I LOVE the cinematography of it all as well. Keep doing your stuff, man!
It must’ve taken forever to get through all those drawers, what a lovely outcome! Can’t imagine how long the editing took!😵
Beautiful, and I like plywood on certain things. What a gorgeous outcome. Editing is 😍
From functional to beautiful.... great job.
