    ABOUT: 🔻
About Earthside: In late 2012 an eclectic group of composition scholars, electronic music producers, orchestral performers, and music journalists set out to create a record that would redefine expectations of what was possible within the rock music genre-a piece of work where elaborate orchestral arrangements, performed by real players (courtesy of the Moscow Studio Symphony Orchestra), would tussle with fierce metallic elements, film score ambiance, and some of the most charismatic and emotive voices in modern music.
"Two brothers embark on a surreal journey through a foreign world in the hope of confronting an ominous force that threatens their kind and the planet they inhabit. As experiences alter their individual understandings of the world and themselves, a far more terrifying foe comes into focus."
Opening with the haunting cry of screeching lead guitar, timpani, and pipe organ, the ominous introduction sets the stage for a horrifying climax that never seems to lessen in effect with repeated listens. The dastardly arrival of Earthside’s new song ‘All We Knew And Ever Loved’ is ushered in by a very human spiral of conflict, represented by the dueling drum performance of Earthside’s Ben Shanbrom and featured guest performer, Baard Kolstad of Leprous.
Through the positively apocalyptic sounds of one of the largest pipe organs in the world (recorded at the First Congregational Church in Los Angeles) and an earth-shaking mix courtesy of Randy Staub, known for mixing Metallica’s legendary symphonic live album, S&M, the effect isn’t merely devastating; it’s inescapable.

The vocalist Dan is from tesseract, not sure if you guys have listened to them yet but they're an unbelievable English progressive djent band, one of the pioneers of the modern djent sound. They'd 100% be to both of your tastes.

Seconding the suggestion that you guys check out Tesseract (if you haven't yet), the main band Dan Tompkins is in. Legendary group, with a new album in a few weeks. They released a monster track called War of Being about a month ago, another 11 minute song.

It took me about three listens to truly appreciate this track but it wasn’t because it was a bad song by any means it’s just there’s so much going on in so much to grab musically and vocally. I pre-ordered. The album sell November 16 at midnight. I’m gonna do the surface lessons and then the next day after breakfast we’re going to do a deep dive and do the whole album.
