Was still a little kid so didn't know who Eric Clapton was then but I remember the Michelob commercial. My favorite version of this song once my oldes brother introduced me to Eric Clapton and Bob Segar, and Hall and Oates and Phil Collins and Genesis. Great days!
Still remember seeing this the first time.. Michelob commercial, late 80's, whatever it was. I thought this was the coolest thing I ever seen. The 80's were a great time to grow up...
I've been reading his autobiography, It's fantastic.I found out about this rendition of After midnight from his autobiography and my life is richer for it. I'm so happy I found it.
Some ppl hear this song & think only about the Michelob commercial that was attached to it back in '87. When I hear this song, I think about how much of a Cool, Smooth, Badass jam it is.
Christopher Walker Yes sir, I just wanted to make sure homage was paid to the original creator of this song. But this rendition by Eric Clapton is mighty fine though.
This version got so much flack in the late 80's when it came out because it was attached to a Budweiser commercial -- no one seemed to actually pay attention to how great a performance it was. Clapton had admittedly made some dreary synthesizer-heavy pop in the mid 80's, and this was a triumphant return to form. Even better than the 70's version, in my opinion.
Jolly4jc The reason it received some "flack" was partly due to that it was indeed part of a Michelob commercial. But EC had just entered rehab for drug and alcohol addiction. The beer ad got maybe a few plays and then was pulled. I hadn't seen or heard this version till today...glad to have found it!
For some reason I always feel like drinking a beer whenever I hear this song. Just kidding. I play a lot of music at work and even the young people come up to see who is playing.
One of the most bad-ass tracks you're ever going to hear.
It's getting truer every day
At the midnight we're going to live all hang out I'm waiting for you I can't wait no more
Couldn’t agree more!! This slowed down version is by far the better rendition of the song.
I believe that somewhere in the world, there are people who feel the same emotions that I feel when I listen to masterpieces like this song.
You have to know that you`re never alone
I guess you go from clip to clip and post the same thing.
Amen!
My favorite version of this song. Love the guitar riffs and Clapton's rough voice. It's a classic track
I like this version better as well. It actually sounds like a song you would want to hear at 11:55.
That is way better than the fast version.
@@legendaryTMNICO if you like this one, have a look at JJ Cale doing it live with EC as his 'sideman'...

I was 18 in ‘87 when Michelob unleashed this commercial. What a time...
I am wishing so hard for a time machine to take us back to the '80s. What a fantastic time.
I was close
Yes, it was really cool and original. Great commercial.
I was 21. Good times. Miss the 1980's big time !

One of the funkiest blue eyed blues recordings I've ever heard
Best version of this song by far..in my opinion...LOVE IT!!
The remake from the '80's is the best. His best work.
I've been reading his autobiography, It's fantastic.I found out about this rendition of After midnight from his autobiography and my life is richer for it. I'm so happy I found it.

LOVE THIS VERSION SO MUCH ! SUPERIOR TO THE OLD VERSION FROM 1970!
He improved with age..

The same song, sung by JJ Cale and Eric Clapton, with different slants and nuances. Genius at its best.
Every time that I listen this song, I repeat it 2 or 3 times again!!!
Love this version best
THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST OF ERIC ( I ALSO PLAY GUITAR AN WRITE SONGS
Some ppl hear this song & think only about the Michelob commercial that was attached to it back in '87. When I hear this song, I think about how much of a Cool, Smooth, Badass jam it is.

This kicks so much ass! So much better than the 1970 version. One of Clapton's best songs ever (in my opinion).
+Christopher Walker too bad it's not a clapton song lol
It was originally by JJ Cale wasn't it?
Christopher Walker
Yes sir, I just wanted to make sure homage was paid to the original creator of this song. But this rendition by Eric Clapton is mighty fine though.
+Christopher Walker Yes this version is much better than the original.
This is classic, slow jamming, COOL rock 'n' roll.
Christopher Walker This is JJ Cale song. Nice try, Clapton though. lol
“Slow Hand” at his finest!!

Still goes directly to my head and shoots to the toes. Crazy sexy - incredible.
Best version of this tune
Still have not fallen out of love with the fast version but this is so darn good. The Michelob ad didn't do it justice
eccellente❤
He'd done a Album dedicated to His Late Friend JJ Cale Last Year! And Did a Video "They Call Me the Breeze" with Cale's voice at its beginning!

Jolly4jc Michelob division
Was it a Michelob commercial? Sorry, my mistake!

The beer ad got maybe a few plays and then was pulled. I hadn't seen or heard this version till today...glad to have found it!
exactly. it just feels wrong to play a song and use it to sell something that nearly killed you. i'm still against corporate sponsorship in music.
no offense but his stuff from the 70s really rocked and we enjoyed this man's music
one of the best left hands ever
Very cool!!
Yes better than the fast version, shows the true talent .
HELL yes
I'm an Eric Clapton Fan! Jonny Weiss "Love" 🎶

I remember hearing this song in a Michelob commercial in the 80s.
For some reason I always feel like drinking a beer whenever I hear this song.
Just kidding. I play a lot of music at work and even the young people come up to see who is playing.
