    Hi Dr Mindy
I've nursed 46 years and was always taught to use steroids for my psoriasis. ...until I took matters into my own hands after my father died, as I was covered head to toe in psoriasis, so I started omad ..then increased to 20 hr fasts , just on water and black coffee. I took photos before and after. . It took 3 months in total , I had cheat days but the results were miraculous,! My psoriasis was completely HEALED ! 😊 Now I tell my patients stay off steroids and let food be thy medicine. ..and medicine be thy food ☺💕

I’m a relatively healthy 55 year old woman and I’m fit, not overweight.
The first time I did 72 hr water fasting was a month ago. I did it specifically to fix a few body injures I had:
both shoulders, both elbows and a little of pain in my knees. My body decided to heal all my right side, shoulder, elbow and knee. So this past week I did another 72 sardines fasting to heal the other side. Oh my God! It didn’t disappoint me! I feel like brand new today! I only feel like 5% of discomfort in one of elbows but 95% of all other issues are gone! I have to do this again to treat other possible conditions that I may have and don’t know of. Thank you Dr. Mindy. And just to let you know I bought you book in both formats, virtual and hard copy.
Again thank you for the work you do.

Since I found you I’ve been watching your videos and I’ve learned so much. I wish I found you sooner. I’m still not losing weight 😂
It all started because I have psoriasis, vitiligo, and vertigo. I was researching psoriasis and started to realize that this is a gut/ auto immune issue. I was surprised the dermatologist did not mention this 😢.
I bought your book and trying so hard. At first, I bought so many vitamins for the gut which I am taking. I just started your auto immune reset…fasting is not a problem for me. Usually, I just watch your videos and don’t comment. so many things I’ve been doing wrong and I have a success story, I did lose 73 pounds on Weight Watchers about 16 years ago, but recently started gaining weight Of course I’m 40 now. 😮
I’m looking forwarded to getting myself back together. I am falling apart. Love your motivation and how passionate you are when you talk about all this. Wish me luck!

Going this time to 5 days if I can push it as I just feel absolutely amazing. Your videos and passion has kept me pushing through it knowing I'm doing good to my body.

I've got my psoriasis when I was working in shifts. And my neighbours did not let me sleep because the lived during the times that I needed to sleep. So the sleep deprevation did lead to a poor live style. Ordering food instead of making and smoking. Now I am sick at home with also fibromyalgia doing baby steps to work again. But my company doctors say that should do shifts again. I know this is going to make me more sick again. So I am trying to find other work. And trying everything to heal me. I order the book fast like a gir. But it is taking a long time to come to my local book store here in the Netherlands. So I am making already small changes in my eating times. So thank you for al your free content.

Hi Dr. Mindy Pelz. I just want to say that one day I was reading what this lady had commented on a web page in the comments section and it got my attention.
She said that a few years ago that she had gotten really sick and she was not able to eat for nine days. She said she had Hashimoto's. She also just happened to have an appointment already set up for her lab work. When she went to her doctor's appointment, she found out that her TPO antibodies went way down. They discussed what happened and figured out that it was from her not eating for nine days. Basically fasting. The doctor was shocked. He told her to do that again in six months and do another fast for five days. She did. Her Hashimoto's was in remission. It was so much so that she said it had been three years and it still didn't come back. It sounds like she didn't change her diet but had fasted with water only.

Thank you for your videos. I started fasting in November. I am a 62 year old type 2 who has gone from 300-400 units of insulin per day, to none, I haven't injected since Jan. I just transitioned from obese to overweight and am making good progress. I am starting to see issues go away, but the neuropathy in my toes seems to be more painful (but that may go with the cold hands and feet from fasting). My approach is long term fasting, breaking it every week or two with a small Sunday dinner of meat and broccoli. I plan to keep doing that until I hit my next milestone (200 pound milestone, currently down from 251 to 217). Once I reach that, I'll experiment with intermittent schedules that keep me losing and allow me to continue the path toward fat adaptation. You can't believe how much you are influencing my repairs.

I'm a fan from wayyyy back. OMAD faster for the last couple of years. I have had an autoimmune issue pop up in my life in the last year and am working on these 3 strategies you talk about Dr. Mindy... it's interesting to me that the body will show you what it needs to heal itself inspite of yourself. You may get hit by a pebble or even a brick... but your body is not lying to you. I am so grateful that so many of the things that help like clean eating, a fasting lifestyle and understanding the priciples has helped me move forward with addressing my new issue. I'm not in denial or "frozen" by the prospect of an illness that the sickcare sytem wants to label chronic and lifelong. I am challenged and empowered. Sure, I have crappy days but I am not defeated. Hugs to you and your team.

  • @AnimaLibera
    @AnimaLibera Před rokem +4

An important trigger for autoimmune issues is ... pregnancy. While this is a known fact, it seems like nobody talks about it so I thought I'd bring it up. It happened to me and a friend of mine, and my guess is that there are many more of us out there.
As far as the "cure" is concerned, I have tried it all. I have been on a carnivore diet, not for weeks or months but for years. I fast 16-23 hours each day and have done so for years. I have also done a number of prolonged water fasts (15+ days) in the past. I'm 66 years old. My lifestyle is as healthy as it gets, I'm not overweight, I exercise and - apart from my autoimmune situation - I feel great. I make sure I get enough sleep, I don't have marital issues or financial problems and there are also no other mental stressors that I am aware of. I'm all for the carnivore diet and fasting, and if Dr. Mindy's advice works for your, then that is great but keep in mind that it may not be *the* cure for everyone.

I appreciate the specifics in what you shared in this video and feel inspired with these suggestions for my regular fasting routine. I am always interested in hearing more about thyroid and healing for autoimmune, it's good to find encouragement for holistic healing.

Hi Dr. MIndy. I follow a Keto lifestyle since October of 2020. Lost 70 pounds over the next year and a half. I took breaks and tried to just hold my weight when I got to certain milestones. Now a healthy BMI of 22 at 65 years old Thinner than my freshman year of high school. However, in June of 2021 I started having uncontrollable diarrhea for days. Saw a gastroenterologist and after many tests and colonoscopy with biopsy, was diagnosed with IBD, specifically collagenous colitis. I was put on a medication called cholestyramine, which works by binding up bile acid. About 9 months ago I saw one of your videos about a gut reset fast (24 hours or OMAD) and I have been doing OMAD once a week. I am already at my goal weight, so I am just doing this for the health benefit. Since my cholestyramine is dosed as needed, about 5 to 6 months ago I stopped taking it to see what would happen. I have had no episodes since I have been doing OMAD once a week so I can confirm this works for me!! I still get a little bit urgent if I eat a large salad on an empty stomach, but it is nothing like it used to be. I find small amounts of veggies are very doable, especially if they are not breaking my fast. Somehow or other, lettuce seems to be one of the worst ones for my digestion. Thanks for all your fasting advice.

Have just started IF and will definitely get your book so I can figure out my cycle and incorporate the other fasting techniques. I believe I got sarcoidosis because in the 60s my mother smoked and smoked in bed and there were a few times that the mattresses caught fire, once being when my sister and I were sleeping with her. I believe those toxins are still in my body because we inhaled a lot of smoke. It’s a miracle we lived through that. There’s also some gene issues on my father’s side so who knows. I'd imagine there are a significant number of us 60+ raised in households where one/both parents smoked - in the house, in the car, on planes, in the restaurants we visited. I remember reading years ago that our lungs can recover once we're removed from the toxic environment. It's kept me sane and positive for the 42 years since I got out of that environment (at age 18). I think we're now learning that it's not just our lungs but our entire body and all it's systems which can heal, and we're appreciating the HOW now ... Dr. Mindy is spreading the good news and lighting a very valuable path!

Also I had very heavy cortisone treatment, but the sarcoidosis continued to progress. The doctors don't give us much hope. I know that we can take control of our health with our lifestyle, and diet must be our number 1 concern. today I have studied intermittent fasting, and I am going to take things very seriously. Thanks to this book and the scientific studies attached to it, we finally have hope. It was Hypocrates who said “let your food be your medicine” more than 2000 years ago.

After 2 years of infrared sauna, vitamins/minerals and many tests from my integrative health doctors, I still wasn’t improving. Then I got covid and had long haul symptoms. 6 months after that, one of my doctors had test for mold. Yes.. I had mold in my apartment that I was living in since 2013 until last year. I lived in a tent behind our condo (rental) until Jan 2022. I dove deep into yoga, energy medicine, Neuro retraining..but still not feeling much better. I’m insulin resistant, on keto since Oct 2022, barely losing weight. Just saw another integrative health practitioner that led me to your book but I’m waiting for it because it’s on back order. I’m borderline diabetic, toxic loaded (no heavy metals), Epstein Barr now, low copper… there’s so much more to my story and I’m leaving out. I feel like this is my last hope.

It is good to know that packages of meats like ham that say "Contains no nitrates" yet is pink and lasts a long time, have nitrates in them. The USDA does not allow meats preserved without Sodium Nitrate to be listed as "cured". The natural food industries preserves the meat using celery seeds. It contains as much nitrates but cannot be labeled as such because it is a natural sourced nitrate. It is nitrate though.

I am so grateful I came across a few of your videos out. And glad I purchased Fast like a girl. I was told by my doctor about a year ago I may have lupus I’ve yet to see a specialist, I keep postponing my appts cause the only symptoms I have are a lil achey in my hands n feet which are very seldom. I did test ANA positive and that’s why she thinks I have this condition.
I just completed an 84hr water fast and now following the autoimmune protocol. I’ll def consider adding some carnivore days once I’m ready.
My question is: as I follow the 17hrs fasting daily and adding 1 day of 24hr fasting do I still follow the way your feeding is set out for Day 1-10 11-15 16-20 21- bleed Ketobiotic foods and then the hormone feasting food plan but ignore the fasting hours set on the diagram in the book and apply the 17hrs n 24hrs?
I am very disciplined and want to do this right and not stress
Only stressor I’m having is how do I go to 100-150 carbs for Day 11-15 and 21-bleed 😫 I’m nervous as I’m a low carb for many years at 30g day
Any advice besides ACV I think you mentioned as long as I do 3 days not all the days ?

Fasting saved my life 3 yrs ago. I've was diagnosed with Sjgorens. I've come to realize its not one component contributing to my autoimmune. I got your book because I've been struggling with the hormone piece as I'm in perimenopause. This past year has been rough for me. As my past trauma come to light and I wrestle with some darkness inside. Gained the weight back realizing I turn to food to cope with all the hurt. I've never had a really regular cycle. Plus, I'm not good at understanding how to understand my cycle. I dont think I'm alone in this. I'm trying to start over because I was happier and healthier after losing 69 lbs and being outside most of the time. Stress is my arch nemesis and I think it is for most women. To much put on to us day after day. That doesn't even include the boundless situations that just happen to a person. Especially women. Keep putting these videos out there because I knew I was getting back on track working up to 3 day fast. I've already started doing 1 24 hr a week fast. Thank you

I see a rheumatologist at Duke who did say that with my fibromyalgia, one day it will turn off. I’m curious to see if by fasting this will “turn it off” or reverse it because other than pain and inflammation the number one issue is my weight. I gained 70lbs within months. And no matter what I did I couldn’t lose the weight. That’s actually how I was diagnosed. My weight gain and the inflammation. Thank you Mindy! For those of us with an autoimmune flare up doing the 72 hour water fast and want to do carnivore as immediate follow up… is just starting (slowly) with meat a good option the best way to come off the fast? I do have homemade chicken bone broth but it was cooked with onions, carrots and celery for flavor. Does having those vegetable minerals in the bone broth defeat the purpose? Thanks for all you do!

What about fruit? Since it also does not have poisonous substances like vegetables.

What about our Meds? If 24 hour fasting will heal the thyroid, we go on 'how we feel'? Many have been on these Meds for years!

When breaking a 17 hr fast, do you need to ease into the few days of carnivore with bone broth or healthy fats (hemp seed oil, avocado, etc) or can you go right into eating clean meats since a shorter fast?

Thank you for the video, Dr. Pelz. I’ve been trying your fasting program, and I’m starting to get the hang of it. This video about autoimmunity has me thinking about my 11-year-old daughter. I don’t feel like someone so young should fast, yet she has juvenile idiopathic arthritis. I’m wondering, at what age is it safe to include her?

I have ruhmethroid arthritis and I’m 22 which is young for it. I think you should give her the knowledge see what she wants to do. The radiation for everything is more dangerous than her building up to a 24-72 hour fast. All under your control but the medication long term isn’t good.

@Dr. Mindy Pelz when Protein cycling, do you watch any other macros like carbs? Or strictly keep to the protein regiment that inherently contain carbs like Greek yogurt & cottage cheese?

I just started listening to your CZcams site and I have a little weight to lose but the main reason is my Auto Immune issues. Psoriasis & Arthritis... I'm currently trying the fasting (3-5 day) to reboot the immune system. I also just received your free packet to assist once I break the fast. My question is: should I do the Meat fast next? or beginning alternating between the 24 hr fast & 17 hr. fast? I'm in menopause so I'm not sure. My PCP has been working with my Rheumatologist in trying to get this mess in remission for over 4+ years... I'm fed up with this now and very ready to try something new. Any help will be greatly appreciated. TKS

I have hypothyroidism and I have been IF for about 7 months. I started it to lose weight and heal some areas but did not know that it might heal my thyroid. My question is, should I contiune to take Levothyroxine or is it cousing more problems and just stop taking it. My next Dr. appoint is next moth. They will check my thyroid then.
