#Hermitcraft #TangoTek - Hry
It's important to reflect on what you learn each episode. This episode we learned that tango is a madman
I think you mean this *season* we've learned that Tango is a madman. I swear he just goes further off the deep end every upload
Really? that's been my takeaway every episode since season 6....
hey now, we learn that Every episode
you should've known that ever since he made decked out lol
We already knew that
Tango: "Thanks Joe for all the hard work with the snow!"
Also Tango: *Digs up all the snow*
xD
lol
excellent work, commentor! this comment is incredibly original and funny! i bet tango had no idea how silly he looked digging up all that snow!!1!!1!
Bet Tango didn't predict this comment would be commented 😂
Had to fulfill the prophecy, it was predetermined. 😂😂❤
Tango: “Thanks Joe for all the hard work on the Snow!”
Also Tango: *Digs up all the snow*
🤣
I was looking for this comment
Tango: "Did I miss a block there"..."nah just spooky eyes"
Also Tango: Jumps over missing block 2 seconds later 9:52
LMAO I was just thinking the same thing
how did you notice that XDD
Your eyes are so sharp, I had to watch the clip back twice more just to catch where the missing block was!
Dude I literally just made the same comment same timestamp
Just watched it at 0.25 speed just to see the missing blocks 😂😂 idk how you caught that. Also, the soooky eyes bit is HILARIOUS at 0.25x 😭😂😭😂😭😂 ROTF!
OMG this means Hermits can sit atop the Citadel and track someone’s run by watching the map! And thanks to Scar, they can even have popcorn!
Dinner and a show?
Sign me up!
Since the map is loaded, they don't even have to be near the citadel.
@@alexanderneedham7320 on top of the citadel you don't even need the map, that's the difference
@@korok2619 oh, yeah, gotcha. Maybe even be where the queue is for the hermits waiting their turn.
@@alexanderneedham7320 Just have a common area map chest
Now the Decked out spectators get to watch the current player's real-time stats from the surface!, they could even write some text messages
Exactly!
@@TangoTekLP Maybe you could also place some UI maps on glow item frames throughout the dungeon - especially in the darker areas - to mitigate the “Players can’t really see the UI in the dark” issue?
@@thoseotherfilms sadly, maps in item frames don't update
@IKNEUMON how about armor stands?
@@TangoTekLP Could you use a banner to mark it and see if it loads it as when you click on a banner it will come up on the map idk if it will work on Java as well I haven't tried it on Java
Imagine showing this to Tango in season 7. The sheer amount of excited nonsense words would almost be as fun to watch as this episode. This is SO COOL!
I can't wait to see someone like xisuma/docm/mumbo/iskall - who understands the amount of work that goes into something like this, and how much redstone is behind it all - run the dungeon for the first time and just BLOW THEIR MINDS. They have been in the dark for so long, it'll just be an overload of amazement
This is literally like what if you knew your friend was writing a book in his spare time, and when it releases, you find out his pen name is J.R.R. Tolkein. Everyone knows Tango is a genius but this is beyond BEYOND amazing.
dont forget about etho
@@Lilobeetle fr! etho was the number 1 player of decked out 1!
Etho had fun running the first version. I’m sure he’ll be ready for this one too.
Don't forget cub!
Ironically the Hazard Block indicator is quite a big hazard now that the redstone blocks have been replaced with TNT
Well said, lol
They are surrounded with water though, so it’s actually probably just about as safe as possible (except there’s still no precautions against the redstone getting flooded if the tnt blocks turn into entities but oh well)
Would lightning set them off? The chances are one in a million, but that's probably one too many, lmao
Well, TNTs are definitely hazard blocks. 😀
Joe definitely deserves some free keys or cards or something for all that terraforming work he did
Tango always rewards people who help out with the creation of his games
Joe of the Hills, building the hills XD
@@evahc7506 lol
@@evahc7506, he's using his Grow Hills move.
This is actually another reason why the weekly score is such a great idea since there will definitely be a few people with extra keys on week 1, so the rest of the weeks will even out that advantage.
Tango has the unique ability to be distracted by something and still be completely on task
There are hermits *cough, Grian, cough* that don't
Every time tango releases an episode showcasing a new feature, I think “wow this is the best part of decked out”, but then the next episode always has something cooler I CANT DECIDE MY FAVORITE FEATURE !!!!
He aint topping this one. This was the last feature. The rest is just looping the gameplay loop for the other floors. The other floors will be awesome with their themes but conceptually will be the same idea.
Regarding the TNT in your map art, perhaps add some lightning rods so it doesn't randomly blow up during a thunder storm
I came back just now to say this, yes, that would be TRAGIC.
Why not just use red concrete and avoid the risk altogether?
@@matiastripaldi406 red concrete is a different color on the map than redstone blocks and tnt. it’s tragic.
@@chiknluvr i think that a little cosmetic thing would be a minor issue if it prevents a whole atomic bomb from going off
I was thinking crimson nylium, it isn't a pure red like tnt/Redstone but it is the closest one and is different from the "nether" one he is using on the other side
UX designer here: The contrast on the red text “hazard block” against the grey background is too low and is going to be hard for some viewers to read. I recommend another color or changing the background to something brighter!
Good luck:)
I came here to say this. Brighter or darker.
While I get the tone is dark. The map being lighter colours could also help with the low light readability.
I think pink or orange would work to substitute, since those 2 colors have a bit of block variety to work with.
He could do just white highlights to improve readability
Eyyy! I'm in college for UX Design!
Ten years ago, I was surfing CZcams and randomly clicked on a let’s play video by a dude I’d never heard of named TangoTek. In the first episode, he said, “A lot of you guys are probably wondering “Who is this guy, and do I really want to start watching another LP series? Well I can tell you the answer is yes.” I thought, Okay, we’ll see about that. Now, a decade later, I can say with all sincerity, Yep! He was correct!
This custom UI is the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen in my Minecraft life.
Thanks for still being a maniac!
-GrampyRick
Is the map area spawn-safe?
Next episode: Tango walks around on the map area, and suddenly a creeper sneaks up on him and explodes... in the VERY wrong spot.... :D
I could see that happening next to the TNT....... YEA
Covering the whole UI area with a layer of glass should be a simple enough fix without affecting the map at a least.
boosting this so tango sees
Could also just get hit by a lightning...
@@MrEagleboy21 I'm not too familiar with lightning mechanics, but I think glass over top should resolve this as well.
If Tango releases a video game, I'm immediately playing it.
Completely agreed I’ve been wanting him to use a game engine instead of Minecraft for forever
@@TrueSlugcat I'm pretty sure he has experience in game development, I think he mentioned it once, and even if he didn't, someone who made a game as complex as Decked Out definitely has game development experience. What he builds in Minecraft though is still very impressive.
@@mkks4559 Totally. Anyone who can do THAT in a sandbox game must be fantastic with a real engine.
He used to make mods, so he can probably code at least a bit
@@TrueSlugcat and _in Survival_ at that!
A nice side benefit of the UI is that hermits waiting for their turn to run can watch how the runner is getting on down there
Is there any other CZcamsr that can so consistently blow our collective minds with EVERY EPISODE??!
This man is next-level
Probably doc :p
@@bartgalle8684 IMO Doc is someone that blows our minds by breaking the rules of the game, while Tango is someone that blows our mind by exploiting the game to the absolute end. Both are crazy though. In a good way, but crazy still.
definitely Docm77, if you don't watch him i highly recomend you too. very tecnical but als very homly/ mad scientist uncle hahaha
Ethoslab is pretty consistent as well. He shared this trick years ago but didn't have a very useful application. It's nice to see someone finally making use of map updates.
Tango's infectious enthusiasm and excitement have me grinning from ear to ear even though I don't understand most of what he is doing. Even watched a second time!
exactly how i feel
There’s a difference between feature creep and discovering critical elements you didn’t know you needed.
The HUD is incredible! One small thing from a graphic designer who works a lot with accessibility design online: even in full light the Hazard Block text is really low contrast and will be hard for some people to read. I’m not sure if there is any color blindness or small vision impairments amongst the hermits, but you may want to consider either making the background of the text darker, or making the text lighter.
I was gonna say the same thing, the text on that one needs to be lighter
I could barely read it, it was very blurry for me tbh, and I'm not even colourblind.
I'd also like to jump in an mention that the title 'Decked Out' would blend better either with it spelled out more in either packed ice or snow.
Maybe try red concrete!
If you used light blocks like Sea lanterns on the main map would it light up the map in your hand???
This is legendary.
This will be reflected in for a decade.
I have watched you for years but never played MC. I’m buying it to play this. You have earn all the respect.
This is the season of Hermits following their dreams, i love it! Decked Out 2 is Tango's actual child and Scar has Scarland! Also Tango, have you like... you know... eaten? or slept? at all??? 😂 I wish I still had that kind of passion for anything anymore, the amount of work you have done on this is insane, but please take care of yourself!!
IKR!! I hope this season runs for 1 or 2 years more. We just had the shortest Hermitcraft Season right before, and now it's time for the longest. This season is definitely one of my favorite seasons of Hermitcraft EVER!!🤩
To celebrate the opening of Decked Out it might be fun to give the hermits a map for decorative purposes in their base. The map will also tell them if someone is playing when they're on
They have to be holding it, not very practical
@@Flash4ML It's not difficult to remove an item from an item frame, check it, then return it. I'd say this item is very practical. Although, the map would always hold the same position when you put it back, but that's pretty cool. Base decor with plasticity.
@@Flash4ML if i remember correctly, maps update just as long as one person is loading the map itself! If you don't lock the map you're given, simply placing it in an item frame on the wall would still allow it to update in real time.
Of course, I may be wrong, but it would still be a cool decoration to place in a base either way
Just when I didn't think it was possible for this game to get any cooler, Tango introduces the COOLEST FRICKIN THING I'VE EVER SEEN IN VANILLA MINECRAFT
Hold on a minute. Let me pick my jaw up off of the floor. I am truly amazed at what Tango can do. This is the coolest thing I've ever seen in Minecraft.
If you wanted to save on a little lag and recycle 80% of those pistons, observers and rails, you should be able to use slime and honey blocks under the counters. Instead of pulling each block per piston pull down a row of 5 with a piston and some slime. Also a few lightning rods might be a good idea with the exposed TNT. Still it's an Amazing idea for visual indicators.
From now on, when someone asks me why Tango is my favorite hermit..... I'll show them this
Honestly my favorite tango moment is the wireless red stone prank that dropped ravages on grian and impulse them
I like the idea of having a map in the lobby so people can watch while waiting for someone to be done with their game
32:06
Also I love how he is so excited at the end even though it means he will probably spend several days debugging the whole system.
Never thought of using maps to give the player an interface. Genius teamwork you got there Tango.
Tango is making decked out less complicated…by making it more complicated
Joe is such a lovely person try to help everyone out and going the extra mile with out need to be asked helping others
I hope he gets some extra things for all the help
The custom UI is an awesome idea, and it looks incredible! :D
I didn't think it was possible, but I think I'm even more excited for Decked Out 2 to be completed! :D
Tango: "Thanks Joe for all the hard work with the snow!"
Also Tang... Oh wait ...
Yeah, isn't he quite the expert on making everything snowy?
Edit, I meant Joe's experience freezing the nether a nd lagging the server to a standstill way back in a modded series
@@chickenfarmer321 I mean, Tango had a great role in Frozen as Elsa!
for some reason maps are a prominent theme this season and i'm so glad that different people found creative ways to use it! i never thought about maps all that much so every episode like this blows my mind
We don’t talk about Grian’s whiteout rooms.
@@sargentgullible2794 yeah... imagine if he would've added live updating tho. people would go crazy twice as fast
Then there's Mumbo - a piston v tape map producing a movie 😅
This is amazing, I honestly thought this had to be a mod/plugin from the thumbnail, the fact that it's all vanilla is mind blowing!
That interface timelapse was possibly the coolest timelaspe I've ever seen!!
The darkness on the map adds atmosphere. There should be a reason now to go into light areas. Maybe you can place them strategically.
This is the best feature creep I have ever seen. An absolute stroke of genius.
ive been watching tango ever since season 3. ive always loved tangos energy and personality but these last few years he has blown my mind with how creative he is. he will take something we all know about and use it in ways most of us never thought about. im so excited for the hermits to play DO. great work tango!!
Agree!!!!❤
I know this is probably too late to get noticed (or changed), but personally I feel the "Clank Blocked" and "Hazard Blocked" fields should be more of "total amount of" type field so as the player goes through the game they have a visual representation of the danger level increasing.
This could add a sense of urgency (particularly with Hazard) and/or relief as they see the meter go up and then down when a card is played.
As its designed right now, if the player runs out of blocker cards they will have no visible indication that anything is changing related to those two systems.
Just my 2 cents
When they run out of cards, both will go up since there are no cards to block them, so you don't want to sit in the dungeon forever. I think there is already is a sense of urgency, and it builds up the longer you are un the dungeon. All the cards do is prevent the next clank/hazard from being produced, giving you more time to stay in the dungeon. In Tango and Zeds stream, when zedaph ran out of cards, all the doors and walls started closing, so there is some visual indication for it
@@tempesto7559 they won't go up on the map though. It'll just sit there "empty" until they exit or get eaten. Yes there are other indicators (heartbeat and blocked passages) but imagine the feeling of having the clank bar on the map steadily increase as time goes by and then getting a lucky card pull and having it drop back down again. I also realized while typing that out that the game might not even function that way.
@@ssmedition2000 As far as I know, clank and hazard never drops. It only increases. And the blocks prevent it from increasing
Tango, WHAT?! I know you said in a recent stream it was going to be feature creep, but this is crazy man!
I'm so excited for Decked Out.
agree
4:00 I love seeing and understanding the madness that's about to unfold, as Tango talks about the map, show the update bit by bit, and explain the plans... Made me laugh real good seeing how crazy AND doable this idea is ^w^
Tango, you and Doc really push Minecraft to its limit in different, fantastic ways.
Hermit collaboration and helping each other out with their projects, understanding it takes a village, its one of the things that makes me love Hermitcraft so much.
You might want to put some glass over the ui... especially over the tnt in the hazard block area
Great idea! My feedback: the shown counters will be confusing for players - embers and treasure should stay up as items are dispensed. Maybe also current hazard level and clank level will be better than remaining blocks, but I'm conflicted on that one.
There is no hazard level
Your excitement at figuring out why treasure was pulsing reminded me of why I love coding. Figuring out a tough bug is so exciting, and it's cool to see others with the same emotion!
I work in automation. What tango is creating is called an HMI (Human Machine Interface). Very cool!
Is it not just more of a screen as opposed to an HMI? The map isn't accepting inputs from the user, it's just showing the progress of the game. Now, if the map was interactable and the player could change the state of the dungeon with the map, then it would be an HMI
You could probably change the clank and hazard blocked sounds since the player can immediately see it. Maybe a chime so it doesn't clash as much with the other card reads?
It took me a little bit to realize that I was seeing an actual MAP during Decked Out 2 runs. When I did, I audibly gasped and went searching for this video. Tango, you are a mad lad and we love you for it.
This was the first video I saw from Tango, and it really blew my mind. He’s currently my favorite Hermit (or at least one of them), and he just continues to leave me in awe. (The silly noises are an added benefit!)
My jaw was on the floor watching this episode. Watching Decked Out come to life has been nothing short of incredible all season, but this interface is one of the coolest things I've ever seen done in vanilla Minecraft!
You could make a tcg arena at the top of your fortress. And like cub you could make your own card the ‘dungeon master’ who draws power from the labyrinth beneath him to imperil his opponents.
Love this idea but I don't know if Tango has played the TCG at all
That’s a great idea, it’s a shame Tango is a sad grumpy man who only cares about working on decked out.
(Hopefully when DO is done TCG is still popular and tango gets to play a few rounds and make an awesome arena.)
Edit to say /s, becouse I forgot this is the internet.
And vintage beef should make a “house” of cards
@@BandidoDescalzo I'm not sure it's about being sad and grumpy - it's about not having enough time to play TCG, due to the immense amount of work needed to finish Decked out before the end of the season!
that'll only happen after he's finished decked out and it's working fully. but that'd be great to see.
What a good guy Joe is!
Such a great person
Would be a shame if the snow was dug up
As clearly amazing as the rest of Decked Out has been, this is by far the most amazing part imo! A fully interactive LIVE map during each playthrough is phenomenal, and to do it without some crazy mod is even more impressive
Tango's brain never ceases to amaze me with his creative abilities
honestly, sometimes i just forget that tango is genuinely an absolute madlad and then he pulls something like THIS and im like “ohhhh yeah that”
This is incredible!
Consider making a higher contrast divider for every 10 card group in the UI so that players can get a quick count of remaining cards.
Tango really puts out peak Hermitcraft content with every upload.
The red stone explanations were hindered by your genuine excitement, which is so much better to hear than the explanation anyway! What an amazing addition to decked out! I’m so impressed by what you do with this game 🤯🤯🤯
You should have 1 map hanging close by the door so other hermits can look how someone's run is going so far!
Or, even better... a glass platform behind the castle as a "spectator area" where they can watch the "big map" update.
Get some Scar-land Popcorn stands to snack on as you watch the progress. It'll be great!
Tango, my guy, my dude. I'm not even *finished* the episode, not even *10 minutes in* and just the idea of what you are going to do is blowing my mind. I thought LAST episode was incredible!! please go to sleep. XD
This is what makes tango stand out. The interfaces always come first with anything he designs. It's simply amazing that this is done in survival vanilla! Props to the artists and redstoners that helped too. Just awesome work.
Aureliexx is incredible. So are many of the other artists indeed.
Tango: “thanks Joe for all the hard work”
Also Tango: *digs up all the snow*
Tango, when it’s all done you need to tally (if it’s even possible to estimate) totals, for redstone, pistons, observers, blocks dug, etc. This is the most impressively insane project ever, and the interface is pure genius and did in fact blow my mind. Hats off to you!
I love EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS!
A map being used as a UI is friggin genius!
After only seven months (or something like that) of watching your channel regularly we have reached the point where your Hermitcraft videos are the ones I get the most excited about as soon as I see them pop up in my youtube feed. Good job!
Same here! Decked Out devlogs were one of my favorite parts of season 7, and they're easily my favorite part of season 9 now too! Scarland updates are a close second though :)
@@cineblazer Yeah, Scar and Pearl would probably be my close second picks. I mean, I watch almost every new Hermitcraft video that's released for the time being, so I don't want to put anyone down. They all are great fun in their own way. Just especially vibing with the energy and the mindblowing ideas that Tango has with his Decked Out vids at the moment. :)
Love Tango's 'falsetto' voice when he gets excited. The marvels of Redstone completely goes over my head but Tango's unique vocabulary keeps me interested and entertained at same time. Great work!
Shout to Cub and Joe for their help. This is such a cool design Tango and it definitely opens up some cool possibilities!
If you have hermits asking to help maybe someone could do the viewing/spectator room - especially if there is going to be group livestreams. Also, depending on where it is, someone could do the design for the black market. Hopefully that would help you out without messing with the game.
Wow that card idea is insane! Also it does mean that if one person is playing, everyone else on Hermitcraft could see how well they're doing to some extent (and see if a game is in progress) by watching the map art. Plus, even before the game is out, it's a bit of a teaser as to how the treasure, hazard, etc works.
This is one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen in vanilla minecraft. The fact that a professional looking and completely functional UI is possible in unmodded minecraft, much less survival, is actually insane. It was a blast to watch you put it together too, amazing work!
As soon as I saw you pull out the map, I audibly gasped, "NO WAY HE DOES THAT."
It turned out beautifully, you skadoodlin' madman!
Tango's mind is a national treasure that we need to protect! When someone has that much passion for something, you can't help but to get excited too. LOL
That's gonna be cool for spectators outside the dungeon to track the player currently making a run. Should definitely make some sort of viewing platform.
Incredible! Now that you have the map I have a suggestion (food for thought):
To reduce audio clutter, how about having a single sound for clank generation and the map cell being used indicates a successful blocking of the clank? That way you could remove the lengthy “clank blocked” audio and improve game feel. Same goes for hazard. It’s hard to hear ravagers, item drops, and ambient audio as it currently is
I feel like this map hud is more than worth an epesode or two delay in finished Decked Out lol, amazing concept and great exicution! Going to be amazing when the kinks are worked out :p
@TangoTEK is there the possibility for someone to create a data pack that utilises the glow effect of the glowing item frames to a held (passive form of "hold"?) map? That might solve the darkness-problem of the user interface, so the map in the offhand would glow by itself no matter how dark the surrounding area is
Tango, I love coming to a Decked Out episode and being shocked what can be done in vanilla Minecraft. Awesome work.
this is absolutely bonkers. I cannot believe you have a live user interface now using actual redstone. oh incredible I am so excited. and think: someone can watch how someone’s run is going from the OUTSIDE with that too! that’s so fun!
Dude, you're insane.
To watch someone unbottle this hard, and for so long, is stunning.
The mathification is boggling. Stay in school kids!
About an hour ago I watched this episode. I came back here to let you know I enjoyed this episode so much, its an amazing idea and an amazing execution! Props to you Tango, keep up the great work!
I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this, but it might be a good idea to place some instructions in the entry area, instructing players to check if TangoCam is online, and how to position their alt-account if not
This is a really good idea! It also allows players to continue running if tango can’t have his cam account on for whatever reason
not all players have a cam account though..
@@queenraven007 Every hermit has a cam account, it's just that a few of them no longer use them because freecam is a thing now.
Hey Tango, talk to Pearl about her area becoming a mid game shop as she is feeling iffy about the design in comparison to the rest of the chaos caverns.
That's a cool idea!
It could one random card, or a chance to have a discounted card so its a risk to make the journey over there for the discount
She just released an episode where she rebuilt the area with a new design.

Ask X if he can install carpet mod so you can use the bot(fake player) function to keep the map updating? Would be alot easier as you don't have to have a connection to the server 24/7 , also anyone with OP could spawn in the bot if needed.
Tango already has OP and server decisions are a group thing, X doesn't have a say over anyone else. My guess is they've had a discussion about Carpet mod's bot function before and veto'd it, given how Doc needed people to AFK his world-eater for him and he definitely knows about Carpet.
