Daniel: The Bible Explained

- Watch our Introduction video on the book of Daniel, which outlines the book's main theme and how it is fulfilled in Jesus.
Despite what it looks like, God is in control. The Book of Daniel gives us a unique insight into how God's rule relates to earthly governments, armies, and rulers. Even when it looks like the nations of this world surely must be working against the divine plan, Daniel shows us that God is still reigning on the highest throne. The famous stories of the Daniel diet, the fiery furnace, and the lion's den all emphasize the fact that God is in control even when it doesn't look like it. The second half of Daniel's book carries the theme in a different way - through visions. God shows Daniel that he will set up a final, eternal kingdom that will shatter all other would be kingdoms. And this eternal kingdom would be inaugurated and ruled by the Son of Man. This is who Jesus claimed to be - the Son of Man who sits on God's throne over every other kingdom and power. Yet, he did not take that throne through violence, like the kings in Daniel's day. He took the throne by going to a cross.

Loved this video, I really appreciate the reminder that God is definitely in control of EVERYTHING.
So actually studying Daniel at the moment and am back here listening on repeat-did I mention how powerful the editing is that inter-splices Daniel‘s reaction to kneeling before God‘s throne with Jesus being thrown down before the Roman throne? Because all of this duel vision editing is incredible!

Just beautiful! Truly, God imparted that I read the books of Daniel, Isaiah and Revelations three times now and I wasn't obedient the first two time, and only started and then stopped. I couldn't even sleep at night because of the urgency I'd felt in my spirit. I thank you so much for this, as it is part of what I've been searching for to aide my study. Giving your heart to Jesus means trusting in him to make you right with God. We have all done wrong things that separate us from God and earn death for us. But Jesus, who is God in the flesh, took the death our sins earned on the cross so that we could escape the punishment our wrong deeds deserve. Jesus also rose from the dead to defeat death for us and bring us near to God.
So what must you do?
The Bible says, if you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is God," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9).
You must believe.
Here is a larger explanation of what it means to put your trust, or belief, in Jesus from our friends at the Gospel Coalition:
"How can we be saved? Only by faith in Jesus Christ and in his substitutionary atoning death on the cross; so even though we are guilty of having disobeyed God and are still inclined to all evil, nevertheless, God, without any merit of our own but only by pure grace, imputes to us the perfect righteousness of Christ when we repent and believe in him."

Put your trust in Jesus' death and resurrection. Believe in your heart that Jesus is God in the flesh. Say a prayer to God in your own words telling him all of this.
And then, find a local church and tell them you've just put your faith in Jesus.

The thing is I have just given my life to Jesus but ever since my mind has been a battle field and I don't know how to cope with it
@@rachelokango1207 I'm so glad to hear that you have given your life to Jesus. Though I don't know what you are going through, I'd like to say two things. First, if you are not a member of a healthy, local, Jesus-centered, Bible-based church, you need to do that right now. Second, it makes total sense that you are facing a battlefield right now because you have just entered the battle. Before giving your life to Jesus you were a slave to the enemy. He didn't want to attack you because you were not a threat to him. Now that you have given your life to Jesus, attacks come. Jesus never told us that following him would result in easy living. In fact, he said suffering and persecution would come. But we keep following him because he is worth it, and he is all that is true. Your relationship with God through Jesus is not based on how little you are attacked or how perfect your walk with him is. It is based on what he has already accomplished for you on the cross. Cling fast to his death and resurrection! There is no condemnation for those who trust in Jesus! It is a narrow and hard road, but the Spirit within you is able to keep you on it. Just don't lose faith.

I wrote a poem for Daniel 1
Judah was taken by the Babylonian king
It was all in God's plan
God allowed four young men
To be taken to a foreign land
They remained faithful to God
For they knew He was never far
Boy your man named Daniel,
The king named Belteshazzar
You can have whatever you want
As long as you learn the Babylonian way
They learned the language and the culture
But hid God in their hearts all day
Daniel and his friends, they honored God
One way was through their diet
When it came to what they put in their bodies
They simply refuse to stay quiet
The young man were offered the best food and wine
You must be healthy and strong
Give us water and vegetables only
To honor God you can't to go wrong
If we change your diet and fail
Us guards the king will detest
The guards were afraid that these Jewish teens
Wouldn't stand to compete with the rest
The four young man impressed the king
With our strength and ease to learn
Also, Daniel could tell visions and dreams
What a high respect he earned
The king tested these four young men
Found them smart and wise
Place them in the king's royal service
Only the beginning of their rise
