Abstract: Comminution for mining and cement industries accounts for over 2% of global energy consumption and for a typical mining operation comminution circuits may account for around 50% of its power consumption. An innovative Gyratory Rolls Crusher (GRolls®) technology has been developed in South Australia to reduce comminution energy and water consumption, providing dry and wet crushing from ~20 mm to 20 micron fractions without media, replacing up to two stages of size reduction.
Bio: Mark Drechsler is a founding Director of CBSM Mining Services that has developed innovative wet and dry tertiary to quaternary GRolls crushing technology for the mining, cement and waste industries. Mark is an Engineering Geologist with over 40 years of industry experience who has conducted research into 'green' geopolymer concrete and into sustainable uses of waste materials such as slags and fly ash for the construction and cement industries. Mark leads the commercialisation pathway for CBSM, involved in the design, development and testing of laboratory and pilot scale GRolls units and collaboration with research organisations.
