@@andyodvor2927 same reason they all do. he had zero desire to play college basketball. and to be fair to him, he actually signed a very solid first contract for a mid 2nd round pick that was questionable to be drafted or signed at all. someone likely made him some kind of guarantee before he full sent though. he’s actually been decent when healthy. and that’s another thing. he had already had a history of injury issues to he kind of had to take what he could get and not risk getting hurt again. lastly, Vanderbilt was notorious for having a huge group of hangers on in his ear for several years throughout high school and while he was at kentucky. the people close to him were eager to cash in and likely pushing him to leave as soon as possible as well. sad truth about a lot of these kids.
Kentucky paid for this win in the end. rick barnes very publicly complained about the officiating and Kentucky got completely fleeced by the officials in the return match at tennessee and again in the SEC semifinals. And it’s funny Cal has already been subtlely working the officials for the game saturday as well as he’s been talking about how physical the vols like the play in all of the lead up to the game. Cal loves Rick Barnes but his teams flop a ton and always have.
