      I spend about 80 to 120 dollars for groceries, that i TRY to make it last for about 2weeks. As you mentioned, there is a reason for this line up.

    I also notice lots of peoples in GTA drive brand new BMW, Range Rover and Tesla go to the food bank 3 times a day specially in Brampton and other areas.

      There should be rules, if there isn’t already, on who can use the food bank, so people don’t abuse it, like those driving around in expensive cars but going there multiple times a week. Leave it for those that actually need it.

    Students from India drive brand new BMW then go to the food bank 4 times a day. Any one go to food bank must show theirs CRA assesment at least 3 years.

    I am a 3rd generation Canadian. I spent Canada Day paying my exorbitant rent to an Iranian younger than myself who owns TWO homes in the GTA while my sons will never be able to buy a home in this area. Something wrong with this picture.

    I lined up at the oshawa location. Not because I can not afford Mandarin. But because I wanted to try a d see if i can do it also my friend wanted none judgemental accompanying. People act like they're better than you because they wouldn't want. I don't jugde people who sleeps over night at the apple store or the mall to spend thousands on a new phone. It's all about the experience.

    When I moved to Canada in 1991, I was young. My landlady asked me to go to Mandarin buffet restaurant with her family on Canada Day morning. In the early morning, we lined up for at least 3 hours until the Mandarin restaurant opened the door. The buffet was free on Canada day.

    That's the media's fault for crying and bullying Mandarin to not invite Canadian Citizens first for Canada day. Now look all tourist, visitors, people who don't even know about the restaurant and all non citizens there. So now its become torture. Smaller lines if they kept it for Canadian Citizens only. Now its wild lines and people especially Canadian born being turned away.

    Mandarin has been offering this on Canada Day as far back as I can remember.
    I never ever on Canada Day because I could wait up to 4 hours or so to eat.

      I used to work there and on canada day I remember, it was indeed busy, I cooked on the grill...It wasn't that bad. there was 2 shifts. I did the first shift then the second batch came and took over. I got to go home and enjoy the rest of my Canada day.

    It’s a great marketing idea! But I would not be in that line or really any line for anything. I might do the lunch buffet but have not been there in over 5 years. I like a nice crispy egg or spring roll as my go to. BTW I heard they included some “Canadian” options special for the day whatever that means.

      to be fair the food they serve at Mandarin isn't really authentic chinese food. a majority if not all the food there has been changed to suit the North American taste buds...Just like how Taco bell isnt all Authentic mexican food.

    Lets say these people had to wait MAYBE 3 to 4 hours? I rather be working during this time, earn some money, vs something you won't eat alot of to begin with. Plus, isn't Mandarin like 27dollars during lunch time? You really want to wait that long? To save 27 to 30 dollars?

    Wow, respect Mandarin for the free buffet....I wouldn't wait in line that long....what is the cost of a buffet - maybe $30-$40 ..waiting 2 or more hours?? Not a chance.

    amateurs. when doing buffets, always fill up on the meats yo.
    no water, no veggies, no starches. just the meats!
    although, Mandarin always seems to have really good watermelon slices

      Imagine if they were giving out mashed potatoes and meat loaf...the amount of white people in that line would triple. You'd definitely see a bunch of beat-up pickup trucks with Canadian flags littered in that area. Nothing comes between underachieving white people and bland food. LOL.
