Mineola VFD Thunderbolt alarm/fire call December 12, 2020

Sorry, a little mic overload when the 'Bolt is facing directly at it in its rotation. It went off exactly when I was temporarily away from my planned recording position.

This was actually a real call for an AFA. Everyone responded from Station 2 on Elm Place.

Ah. One truck did dispatch from this station, but I thought it was a coincidence. Because the 6:00 PM siren test didn't happen, and the truck didn't have it's flashers on and it waited at a red light. Anyway, good to know the Thunderbolt is still being used to do its job.

Hear about the HQ getting a makeover? They got a temporary yellow 1003 on a pole next to it for any firecalls in the meantime. The original 1003 and the diaphones are down, but in that time, the 1003 will be rebuilt.

@@SteelCitySirensandTrains They’ll certainly put them back, since the HQ is getting a makeover at the moment, a temporary thunderbolt 1003 has been put in place on a pole next to the HQ. But once the HQ is complete, they’ll reinstall the newly rebuilt 1003 and the diaphones, which should be sounding regularly by then.
