    What particularly impresses me is that each engine is uploading hundreds of data points in real time on its own channel to support techs in front of computers. Rolls Royce, for example, can watch every second of operation of each of its engines anywhere in the world.

    10,000 parts in each of those $20 - $45 million engines. Many parts only have a clearance tolerance of 0.5 - 2 mm which adds a lot of pressure to get your precision engineering right the first time.

    Approximately 18 months ago, Rolls-Royce won a contract to supply new engines for the B-52 worth just over 2.5 billion dollars amazing for an aircraft that’s over 60 years old.

    「ゼネラル・エレクトリック、プラット・アンド・ホイットニー、ロールス・ロイス」の3社と同規模のエンジンを日本が開発・製造するにはどのくらいの年月が必要だろうか。 p-1哨戒機は推進力不足で4発にしたと言われています。p-8は双発です。
