been watching this and epiphany2 on repeat, amazing music choice and some ridiculous syncs.
dipping my toes into bhop. this is my first run on a bhop map and i don't play bhop at all so there was (and is) a lot to learn, i expect this run can be improved quite a bit
big thanks to plar for help with the routing, and the folks who came over from the bhop community to help me learn some of the mechanics
m1ners pointed out that i missed a jumpcancel (or potentially two) on the boosts at 1:16, so around 0.6 can be further saved from this run
With your speed you may be able to simply crouchboost the first booster at 1:15. If you are able to headhit the door it would be faster than even jump canceling the second one, but I found it to be faster even without directing the doorway and just going wide and entering on the way down

Whelp that was awesome. So you are good at TASing every movement game ever? How about Quake? :D
I have never tried Quake. If I was going to venture into any other game right now, it would be Half-Life 1. I don't think it'll happen, though, because I don't have the experience with the game to be efficient at routing and the tool that I'd want to use would be very challenging to make.
This still uses manual left and right turns, no perfect strafing or joystick input strafing, right? I find this style pretty interesting, mainly because the runs look much less robotic than the HL1-style TASes. I've been going to great lengths trying to make HL1 TASes look better, with joystick input strafing and camera editing/smoothing, and most recently global camera smoothing (inspired by what I saw on your streams!), but they still lack a certain fluidity you see in human runs like "Half-Life in 20:41".
Of course the trade off seems to be that TASes in your style take longer to make (at least that's the impression I got from watching your TASing streams). There's likely a speed trade-off too, although I'm not sure it amounts to all that much; I can't say anything definitive without a proper comparison between the two.
Nice to see you YaLTeR. It uses perfectly gaining strafes, but at an interval higher than 1 tick per direction change. This way, I can at least automate the straight segments -- it just alternates between left and right strafes at an interval that I specify. The smoothing is the real trick to making it look natural, though, and that's applied over the whole run.
I am unsure how much this style sacrifices either, it shouldn't be losing any speed compared to a 1tick run, just the time taken to travel the extra distance with the wider strafes. Never really had a reason to test it myself, since my goal is just to create entertaining videos in the end.

it's important to board high because you're falling quite fast, and it's difficult to cross the spine and board high
How did you get the boosts at 0:16? I was on the go port when I tried, but the boost only worked once after failing the stage, didn't work when going at it like you did, and never worked more than once to get a crouchboost like that
did you enter the trigger standing and crouch before hitting the ground? i couldn't get the cboost on the way up to work, only on the way down

@@bamtna Speculation: If I recall correctly, didn't you do some stripper work on this map because the filtering made it annoying to tas with your tool? I didn't see your stripper config but in theory depending on what you did, if that particular boost was filtered as well, you could have accidentally made the boost abusable. This is my best guess.
@@ericthompson3084 that boost works normally for me without any modifications though, i checked this morning. i can go straight to it without hitting the fail trigger first and it works
what you are saying is true for the cboost portion of that boost, but the cboost should work differently on segmented runs. i don't know how it functions with the server-side tools, since i don't use them, but solus was able to effectively ignore the filters which is why i stripped them out for this run. i suspect it's something to do with the server sided tools not grabbing the filter state properly under certain conditions. czcams.com/video/e0ac3Zm-kcc/video.html

thanks, i should have asked someone about it -- i was just going by the "normal" time in a shadowplay that i was sent of the map. will update the description
