    Thx for sharing.WoW!.... That's exactly how I imagined the insight into your shaping bay. Very interesting, I will rebuild your adjustable light system like this. best regards

    Dude love this! Super cool how you’ve modified a bunch of stuff! You should 3D print your own fin boxes!

      Thanks dude, super fun time building out the garage! I actually totally could, right now I’m printing with PLA which wouldn’t be strong enough but I could upgrade to print with carbon impregnated filament that’s super strong, fin boxes would be bomb proof!

      I’ve always wanted my own build space, so stoked to finally have a space and get it built out!!! Super fun wholesome fun, really sort of an alternative wood working for the surfing community hahaha

    Love the set-up man! Great videos, DIY is the way to go!! Just noticed you put the outlines on the top of the blanks, what's your thoughts behind that? Keep them coming!

    • @RockandSeaGarageBoardShop
      @RockandSeaGarageBoardShop  Před 2 lety

      Good question! It really depends how you measure your boards and determine their length! Some people measure board length along the deck, some people along the bottom of the board. If you chopped a board in half right down the stringer and looked at it from the side, you could imagine two concentric circles where the deck runs along an arc of the inner circle and the bottom runs along part of a larger outer circles arc. The boards bottom arc length is actually longer than the deck arc length, it’s traveling along a wider path to get to the nose of the board. I just measure length on the deck and trace on the deck.

    Nice. I put curtains for a cool backdrop and dust control. I will still find dust in 10 years.

    • @RockandSeaGarageBoardShop
      @RockandSeaGarageBoardShop  Před 2 lety

      😂 seriously, dust is the worst! I still get dust everywhere from hand sanding a blank, but a vacuum capable sander is an absolutely GAME CHANGER, highly recommend! I really capture pretty much all of the fiberglass sanding dust with my vac

      @@RockandSeaGarageBoardShop I do have a random orbit with vacuum so we’ll see when I get to glassing. It works great with the planer.

      Nice, seriously so nice to cut down on dust! I still produce a ton hand sanding while shaping but capturing everything else is so nice!!

    Nice! Where do you buy all your futures fin boxes? Tired of paying 7-9 dollars a box and eating up a bunch of costs.

    • @RockandSeaGarageBoardShop
      @RockandSeaGarageBoardShop  Před 2 lety

      Right?! Fin boxes are so over priced for no reason! For personal boards I use these cheaper knock offs. Probably made in the very same factory as true futures. how dose ur dust collection work with the long hoses do you have a old shop vac up in the ceiling

    • @RockandSeaGarageBoardShop
      @RockandSeaGarageBoardShop  Před rokem +1

      I have a shop vac on the ground under that back work bench, but I have a couple of hoses linked running up the back wall and then down from the ceiling. It’s super convenient to have the hose coming straight down from the ceiling, that way when you are working it doesn’t get in your way walking around the board 🙌🙌

    Are u using the E or S glass.

    • @RockandSeaGarageBoardShop
      @RockandSeaGarageBoardShop  Před rokem

      You know I’ve exclusively used E cloth thus far, but I really would like to get my hands on some S cloth. S is supposably 10% stiffer and 30% stronger, super good as a deck patch for ding resistance or as a stiffness reinforcer for EPS-epoxy boards. I’ve been wanting to give it a try but just haven’t yet

    All of that mess. Why not design a preform on your beloved Mac, then make an exact mold that you can pour poly into?

    • @RockandSeaGarageBoardShop
      @RockandSeaGarageBoardShop  Před 2 lety

      Molds would be easy, but every one of my boards has custom dimensions and is tweaked for each surfer and the waves they are surfing. Big companies just CAD their boards and have a big CNC mill out each board, takes like 20-30 min per board, super convenient for bulk standard dimensions but not good/convenient for customs
