That shovel propping up the hood must take second prize for "most Canadian hod prop", just behind an old ice auger...
My first 7 years of life were spent riding in a 53 Ford Victoria. Listening to that flat engine brings it all back. Thanks guys for saving the past.
Cheap entertainment. Typically I about fall out of my chair laughing at you improvisation methods, [shovel holding up the hood] and your wry humor! Thanks for making my day a little happier!
I don't know why but I had a smile on my face when it roared to life for the first time in decades. That valve was an easy fix...wished it would be always that simple? :)
Great to see that old gal come to life, nice save
Henry Ford was a genius. So easy to work on these engines.
Thanks for bringing the old girl back to life.
Gotta love a flathead and a will it run successful start.
Thats another one of my Favs,Nice body style,And just love the Flatheads!!! She needs to be driving again!
kickass vid on the flattie scott! can't wait for part 3
I love the simplicity of the old engines, now a days a friggin lawn mower engine has more to it.
Interesting comparison, considering the classic Briggs & Stratton must be the world's most sold flathead.... :)
She's a runner! I love these "Will it Run" Videos. I never miss an episode, and have actually re-watched several of the old ones. Keep it up!
There's just something so satisfying about seeing an old, neglected car get back into running condition again, isn't there?
I did the "coldwarmotors" approach to getting a 62 Fury started that hadn't ran in 45 years. I still don't have it on the road, shooting for next year....
I totally agree and I too, have re-watched many of their videos. A great bunch of guys!
icondonnied Just throw shit together and hope it runs? Eh at least Chrysler (owns Plymouth) built their stuff GM and Ford tough.
Nice job guys. Goes to show that with a little know how and persistence the old girl runs again. Like they say "flatheads forever"
Keep up the great work on this channel boys! for all your cheap tricks, and wise uneducated guessing...I salute you..
Stella born retired, and loves old cars..
Smartest one of the bunch of ya!
Love the scoop shovel hood prop rod.. All she needs is some Marvel Mystery oil, fix that sticking valve right up.
I'm in love! Sort of. And I'm normally a Chevy guy. Hard to beat the looks and sound of a '53 Ford with a flat-head and that perfect patina, though. Looking forward to episode 3.
Awesome! Always nice to see an old original engine start up with a minimum of work. Reminds me of the 1950 Austin A90 Atlantic I got to run in my Dads driveway after he had ignored it for 20 yrs sitting in his driveway. I was 19 when i worked on it and actually got it to run to shift the gears on the column mounted 3 speed. It had twin su carbs. Then my dad pulled a fast one on me he sold it when i wasn't home lol Needless to say I was pissed
That next afternoon shot of it running is really something! It is running so smooth now!
Love the old Ford esp the colour.
Very nice, hard to kill an old flat head. I love how the majority of the time all of the old stuff fires up no problem. My 79 Thunderbird sat for 15 years before I got it and it fired up fine, although it ran rough cause the timing chain slipped 2 teeth on the cam
Another great show. Your videos always make me smile, and laugh along with you, as if I were right there. Thanks for always being real.
I will be honest i was having kindof a rough day but after seeing this thing run for the first time in 30 years just makes me feel so much better. Thank you for sharing this.
Hey, thanks for watching this stuff. Just having a little fun and some laughs, right?
coldwarmotors
Exactly. I love seeing those old cars of yours start for the first time and listening to yall talk about really anything is always fun. :)
I love you guys. Great work.
Excellent work Fella's
Check out that Dr. Pepper pop bottle hung upside down and duct taped to provide fuel! I love it!
I thoroughly enjoy yall's videos....especially this series on this old flatty. Thank you for posting them.
This video makes me think of doing this with my Brother back in the day . what a satisfying moment . we need a tire of the day update ! . Stell wants to go for a ride like the rest of us . bring your own Hooch . Thank You Agents , your doing a fine job Men ! . Ray in Pa U.S.A.
The motor oil in the sump looked like septic tank sludge. I am quite surprised the engine had any compression guessing that the oil control and compression piston rings were sludged up and stuck. As usual, very entertaining and great video!
Vacuum wipers! Some things in the good old days weren't so good. The 1959 MKII series II Zephyr I had back in the early 70's had them & they were a complete pain in the ass.
Play more of the intro and exit music. It sounds like a cool song. Those Ford flatties are really cool engines. The have a very distinctive sound.
Nice runner! Now for "Will it Move?".
Great video...Thanks for sharing...My Dad bought a new one in 54. Mom drove me to first grade school in the 54 ford. Brings back good old memories...
Awesome. The head looked better than some 5 year old cars I've worked on.
Chances are after it runs for a while it will loosen up, run some Marvel Mystery Oil in it. Excellent job as usual!
Yeah, and flush that motor out really good. That oil is probably nasty! Would be interesting to see what some of that oil would show when tested after being years and years old!
Howdy Guys. I really like the shovel as a hood prop. It's a runner, and a bit of a smoker..but after all it is an old Ford, every one I have ever had smoked a bit, heck that car is 2 yrs older than me, and I smoke a bit also. Great Video...Thanks
Excellent! Next is the DRIVE !?!?!
Those old flathead V8's were loads of fun. Easy to work on, usually easy to fix. I had both a 48 and 51 only needing a valve ground on both of them. Just a vey simply and easy valve grinding and I was soon on my way. The only fault I was never able to fix was was a fuel pump vapor lock problem. I really enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing them. Jay
sweet ride, get it running and stopping and room with it
Another nice driver for the Fleet . Nice work
Another great car by coldwarmotors EMTs. Just thinking about my first '50 Ford with a flat head. It was a nice coupe and a ticket magnet. For its day it was quick and reliably solid. Nice to see the old flat heads are still with us. Cheers!
Awesome work guys! Great fun watching you all doing this work! Gives me some inspiration!
Love your rustorations on those old cars, nice to see them all rusty and worn, hope they stay that way and not painted. Sure sounds nice when running, bit like some of the old bush mobiles running around some outback communities in Australia. Keep up the great work you Mob!
Hey thanks for the note; glad to hear from other junk enthusiasts from around the world. Cheers from Canada.
+coldwarmotors Thanks for your reply, love to see how you get those old cars running without too much bother and expensive rebuilds. Love the cars complete with rust, much nicer than expensive paint jobs and chrome, so long as its a good runner that would do me nicely. Cant wait for part 3!
Thank you!
Very nice video. I like what I see and happy to see you guys working on a flathead ford! Keep them coming. I have had a 53 custom, 54 victoria, and a 55 crown vic ford. Nothing beats the old flathead! the 52 I had had 29,000 original miles and when you drove it you could barely hear it run.
what a gorgeous sound that is!
I'm not really much of a car guy, but i still enjoy these videos very much and get excited every time i see a new upload.
Great. Hope to see more vids.
Flathead fords are awsome, even though I'm a chevy guy, I still appreciate good engines.
NICE!!! I love the sound of a flat head
There so easy to work on i always say "there like frickin legos man"! U guys do exactly wat me n my buddy lou do but we just dont film it, keep up the great work "if we dont save them nobody will"!
you guys do things the same way i do in north carolina .with no money so cool.
10 +good work men.,.. love your work 😁
Smooth runner. Amazing.
runs like champ
Hello from another Australian. My first paddock car before I got my license was a 53 Ford, and my first car when I got my license was a 52 Ford, so it's good to see you guys fucking about with one and it brings back many memories. Even the stick holding up the hood (bonnet in this part of the world) is very familiar to me. I used to have a 53 grille bullet like the one you are missing, but it got turned into a viking helmet. Perhaps that's what happened to yours! I've no idea what you do for a real job if you have one, but you'd make a great voice-over guy! Keep having fun, Peter A. (Melbourne)
Neat video once again, and I'm glad that the valve was nothing major. Congratulations on yet another runner! -Nick.
Thank you for saving these old girls!
GREAT job!!!! Nothing in the world runs quite like a flathead Ford. A lot of memories came back watching this one. What a smooth idle after loosening that stuck valve!!! Can't see any vibration in that engine... Wow... Body and floors pretty good in this one?
Hey, glad you liked it. The engine really smartened up with a little run time. Body is very savable, but would need the usual work on the rockers and floor pans. Really pretty good overall, though, for sure.
You guys are the best! 🇨🇦
Limousine-smooth.
Agree love the Vids its like we are there, fun, Good ole ford too, Worth fixing a little more.
Nicely done! It was great to see how much better it ran after some basic maintenance.
Nice video again! Good work! Cheers!
"Your One-Stop-No-Money-Shop"...just thought of that...it'd be good for a sign for your place!
This is one of my favorite installments! Freakin' hilarious! I love what you guys do! Thanks!!
I had the same car bought in 1963 for a 150 dollars three speed with over drive it was a great car 53 ford
Nice work as usual.
Excellent work Guys...cheers to all agents ;)
great engines. my dad had a '53 Ford. first car the family had i remember from my childhood.
good work.
Aw shit Scott, this is some of the best stuff on the internet! Can't wait to see more on the Fraser, there is something realy cool about that car. I'm digging this Ford. I got laid in the back seat of one of these when I was 15, real comfortable back seats. These are the cars that me and my friends all owned when we were young bucks, about 50 years ago. Take care man.
Hey, thanks for the note; nice to hear from other people who like this kind of nonsense... All the best from me and Stel.
It's in mint condition for sure. Great episode!
Wicked can't wait for more!
Looking forward to part 3, the neighbor across the road from us back in the day had a 53 cream color sedan, was funny for us kids watching him come up his driveway, his leg was stiff had trouble getting off the clutch he usually did a burn out as his foot slipped off the clutch as he hit the pave, lol , somehow he never got hit by oncoming traffic but back then wasn`t a lot a traffic. keep up the good work,, you guys have too much fun! Cheers from NS (when u get T shirts ready I want one or 2!)
Hey, thanks for the note and the hilarious story; glad you liked it! Yes, shirts are in the works, and maybe some kinda stickers and whatever? I don't know much about that stuff, but I'll work it out if people want Stella coffee mugs! Haha the idea is really pretty funny to me, but life is strange I guess.
It's alive!!!!!😱😱😱😱
Can't beat an ol flattie !
I know you've done some pretty major car surgeries over the years (the '69 Fairlane, putting an engine in the '59 Chevy, etc) but I always get a kick out of the ones that are something relatively simple, like a hung-up valve. To think someone gave up on that car years ago because of something that an afternoon's worth of work would have fixed. It's always great to see them getting a new lease on life.
now that it runs....the question is will it drive and stop? keep them coming! love the videos!
Love it !!! This is the first V-8 I've seen on CWM. Now time to load up Stell and take a ride!!!
Great video!! I love the spark plug in the pile of shirt part. Keep on keeping it real guys. I always enjoy your videos and it really nice to see a flatty running!!
sounds good, great job Hope yall keep fixing that one up ...👍
Sounds awesome!
just for future reference.. if you get a flatty that you suspect has a stuck valve you can sometimes see the problem valve through the spark plug hole.. Ive used lube and a wooden dowl to free them up and apply pressure to said dowl resting on valve head while someone cranks the engine to assure its freed up.. sometimes that alone will save you the time of pulling the head.
Sweet dog!
The label rattling on the radiator hose is classic.......runs great! Can't wait to see you drive it. Next up the Chrysler Royal?
Hmmm! Maybe the Royal? We'll see how much time before the snow flies. The Royal has what seems like a decent engine, but the fluid drive and some damage to the clutch linkage make me nervous about whether it would actually still move without major surgery. Thanks for the note!
mine would still run a hundred years ago when I took the head off it had a rain groove of about a 16th of an inch I couldn't believe it and a couple of cylinders were on 25
Fantastic...2 door 53 ....so cool . Years ago my neighbor had one in high school .. He wanted to blow it up and drove it for 3 days to school with No oil in it ..... It run ...I think he had done the STP thing ...Amazing and great video hereAlberta Dave
I nearly didn’t regonise that agent, without his hi viz, and can of beer.
I love your Can-eh-dian accent
Growing up Dad had a '53 Victoria, the de luxe hardtop version in the Crestline series. He only got rid of it because basically the body had rusted to almost nothing due to salt-laden New England winter roads.
This car has "good bones". Looks, condition, iconic style (that kind equals looks, doesn't it). I would join others in saying "please do another Frazer" with this one. That "Flathead" really responded well to your "De-Fib" operation. Can't imagine a 2016 car responding like that 63 years from now in 2079!! In many respects, "it's too bad they don't make them like they used to"!!!
awesome video love that car
I have to admit .. its difficult to re watch the older videos .. really miss Stella.. do think Francine has alot of personality.. and your videos are some of best on CZcams..
