You don't understand saw then, Jigsaw mainly tests the people in the 2-4 catagarys as he sees it as a way too cure those things. The thing about the "Saw" movies is after the first one, the traps are more complex and convoluted, which can make them more vulnerable to defeat.
Imagine an intricate trap being shut down cuz a dude accidentally cuts one rope and stopped a crucial part of its triggering mechanism

@@theblindbandit6533 I remember that being original Jigsaw's major gripe with his apprentices after he was hospitalized. They absorbed all the engineering and threw out all the entire purpoe.
There’s a lack of understanding in this comment.
John Kramer the original Jigsaw, didn’t make his traps unbeatable. Each one was designed from the ground up to be solved or “deactivated” in ONE specific way. There was a purpose behind each trap and they were designed to make the victim value their life and be “rehabilitated” from their destructive nature through physical trauma and predicament torture. He was a rich civil engineer before he was a serial killer, and he had a lot of help constructing each trap/game. Each trap was constructed and tested in an environment that minimized any possible caveats or loopholes a victim could potentially discover. That’s why certain traps go through advancements or phases like the bear trap, John was eliminating ways victims could find another way out of a trap other than the specific way he had designed. The only other ways his traps are stopped outside of the way he intends, is if there is a great amount of interference from outside sources such as police, or something in the environment not being previously accounted for.
It is the later Jigsaw killers that do not care about the philosophy of rehabilitation or the value of life.
- Jigsaw #2 (Amanda) became unhinged and made her traps impossible to escape.
- Jigsaw #3 (Hoffman) was arguably the most prolific killer, and even had a higher body count than Kramer, he made his traps impossible to escape as well, his goal was to eliminate pretty much everyone involved with the Jigsaw games, going as far as shooting his way out of an FBI office, setting up sentry gun turrets, bombing state police, faking his death, and killing everyone in a police station including Jigsaw’s own wife.
- Jigsaw #4/Logan wasn’t technically a Jigsaw, he is an ex combat medic and was going out of his way to kill one unbelievably corrupt cop. The games in Saw 8 aren’t Logan, they are in the past being conducted by John, it is actually the first ever Jigsaw game before Saw 1. Those traps were escapable.
- Jigsaw #5/William Schenck also wasn’t technically a Jigsaw but was very much directly emulating/copying Jigsaw. As far as I know his traps were never meant to be escapable either.
So when John was the active Jigsaw killer, the games were literally designed to be beaten and you did have a likelihood of success if you thought hard enough. As for the remaining apprentices/copycats, the traps were designed to be inescapable , so even though they might get more complicated..it’s highly unlikely you would ever escape the trap if you found yourself having to escape one.

That was always my biggest gripe with the Saw franchise. Like, i wanna live as much as the next person, but i don't want to live so badly that I'm willing to gauge out my own eyes with a spoon, bruh! And the whole series is dependent on people who apparently do, i guess??

Funny enough there’s only 10 pints in the average adult and losing half of that is generally fatal, so even if they both split it, they would both die, so Jigsaw kind of made this one impossible. Plus it’s not like one of them could die and easily get all of their blood in that jar.

that is a trap that actually appeared in one of the movies. the group started with like 10 people iirc and they died as they went through the traps and by the time they got to the last one, only two people were left. by which point they realised that if they worked together instead of sacrificing each other to the traps, everyone would need to lose only a small amount of blood and they would be free. the guy from the final pair sacrificed himself by slicing his arm into three pieces. you know, as you do.

First it was because he got diagnosed with cancer and had a failed suicide attempt which gave him a new outlook on life, then it was because his wife had a miscarriage because someone hit her in the stomach with a door, then it was because an insurance company screwed him over with the cancer or something, they pretty much just invent a new origin story whenever they feel like it. It's part of the reason why some people hate Saw but I don't know, the convoluted story is part of the charm in my opinion.

Fun fact, the human body has 10 pints of blood in total but if you lose 40% or more of your blood you will die, so losing 4 pints would kill you, so in that situation you either kill your friend or you both die. Unless they took teh 5 pint deal together and sacrificed 2.5 pints each.
In the actual movie there are 5 of them at the beginning. If they worked together, they would only have to give 2 pints each.

Ik right? The movies ended up being more about the traps than the actual story. The first one was great. It was creative, and had both story and interesting traps. Things just went downhill from there. Especially with them killing off so many likeable and interesting characters, one of the best examples being Eric Matthews. Also, the way they made a lot of the traps impossible was so shit. One of the best things about the traps was that they had hope, seeing it was possible to survive, but failed. Giving a human hope just to crush it right after is pure psychologic horror right there.

I disagree if its just cutting your hand for blood, but if its actually cutting off your fingers/part of your hand, then I'm not so sure anymore. Also may depend on exactly what type of gas. To me getting permanently handicapped would be far more demotivating for trying to survive than the pain by itself.
Also can you actually safely give that much blood and be able to stop it in time? Otherwise its only choosing how you die, not if you die (soon)
