- Aliens come to learn the true meaning of Christmas. I can only assume this cartoon was based very loosely on the Wacky WallWalker toys, little sticky octopus toys that you could throw at walls.
Truly, the 9 headed serpent-beast that is Marketing will sink its talons into anything.
Just found this as a child of the 80's this has the exact feel I was looking for
Never saw this but I remember the commercial for it. Man, CZcams has everything!
Glad to see that I didn't imagine watching this as a kid in the early '80s!
You know for a animated special based on a toy this one actually feels genuine instead of being a commercial
I also love the school house rock esque animation
About the animation: it's the same people that were involved with the Berenstain Bears TV specials from the 70s-80s.
I wonder if Squidward's design was based on Wacky?
All the famous voice actors were in this special, including Peter Cullen and Frank Welker. And the late Daws Butler. May he rest in peace.
and Bill Scott :3
I remember being so excited to watch this special when it aired
I’m guessing they were hoping this was going to become a series.
I thought I made this cartoon up in my head, from a distant memory of the 80s...
IT'S REAL!?
Aw shoot - it cuts off just before the end credits! I worked on this as an inbetweener!
Was all the animation work done domestically?
SolidSnake2017 Yes.
Nice! Did you meet the voice actors?
Amber The Fangirl No, the sound was recorded before I was hired to be an inbetweener - but I was just down the hall from the editing room where they’d watch the rushes, so I heard it over and over and over again!
Ahhh, a lot of great people worked on this ! Bill Scott... Mark Evanier... Peter Cullen... Tress MacNeille... Frank Welker... the list goes ooooooon
I've had this on video for years and years. One of the first things I ever taped onto video. I've been on the hunt for it for a long time. Thanks so much for posting it. These bring back so many great memories.
This could've been a series.
I believe Bill Scott, who was famous for voicing Bullwinkle, was the King, the decorative director, and the fake Santa.
Funny hearing Bingo Beaver as a spoiled brat in this.
I remember this one
Merry Christmas!
And happy new year!
@@jamieimai9328 you too!
Thank you!
Was this Tress Macneille's first ever voice acting role?
Yes.
This was based on a fad back in the day.
I have been looking for this for several years. Is there any way I can get a copy to play on my TV or DVD?
Peggy Williams DVD.
Nintendo japan tvTokyo
They never mentioned anything about God or the Baby Jesus.
Then it’s as American as apple pie! All hail Capitalism!
Isn't it crazy? They head for Earth in the year 0 because of the bright star they see. Then they land 2000 years later and never determine what the meaning of the star is?
