"Get over it"- haha damn strait! It is an interesting turn of events the car would get wrecked and be waiting for you all these years. Thanks for sharing
I agree .. Dad had a full restoration shop and he does stuff in a day that would take us several with so called pro equipment ...sometime the high dollar stuff isn't as good as ingenuity.
You are talented and down to earth. Your creativity is perfect for all of this antique road iron to he reborn . Loved this projects first 3 videos, looking forward to many more!
The old Chevy is shaping up nicely. And if candy is helping you curve your cravings go for it. My Dad chewed gum, kept a pack in each shirt pocket. When I stopped smoking I ate everything in sight but eventually got a hold on that. It beats starting back. Hang in there Buddy!
That is my favorite kind of work. I-beams, chains, bottle jacks, wooden blocks, and a wrecker winch. People who can accomplish such fantastic results with old school engineering are truly craftsmen and a lost art. Nice work!
The WV "driver quality" made me fall off my chair! Jonathan you are an automotive genius who truly thinks outside of the box, and your acerbic commentary is equal to, albeit not over the top like other auto shows. My day is not complete without watching your work. Thanks for everything you do to educate us folks out here working on various mechanical projects!
I have really enjoyed watching your progress on this car. You my friend are wizard when it comes to these vintage cars and find many uses for your wrecker.
You're such an inspiration and I enjoy the humor! So great to see these old beauties getting fixed up and back into service. That would be driver quality in New Mexico, too!
Hi Jonathon, I suggest there are very few people who have as much knowledge as you regarding cars and practical direction. I for one hope that you dont concern yourself with answers to you tubers ignorant questions but continue your wonderfull vidieos. Am sure you like me are hurting from not smoking. Me being 63yrs. I catch trout here in New Zealand, ( fly fishing )thats why I moved here from Australia. Big rodding community here. Lots of talent. My best regards to both you and you wife. James.
Wifes name and pic. Mark here. You live your life as you wish, I'm enjoying learning and thrilled to have such a great teacher. For those few of you who are nagging, this ain't Hollywood and your not a director; This is Jonathan's show!
You are a master at your craft! There many ways to do a job, some better, some not! Whatever works for you is the best, regardless of what anyone thinks!
Thanks for another great video. That’s a beautiful old pre WWII Chevrolet. We all need to know that those were state of the art then and be thankful for the wonderful, safe, fuel efficient vehicles of today. If you don’t love old cars there’s no one that can explain it to you.
This car has sparked my interest in pre-war Chevrolet's. I wish I could buy this one. I love the way it looks. Also, I'm glad you are kicking the smoking habit. Do whatever you have to do and keep up the great work. You inspire me with every video. Thank You.
"Get over it" that's perfect!!! Hey, when I quit smoking I always had a big pack of doublemint sugarless gum layin around & I'm not a person to chew gum, at all! I chewed til my jaws hurt, but kept it up, took quite a few months before I was gum-free, haven't touched a stick since 1995. The really good news was that it also cured a problem I'd had to go to doctors for, that was acid reflux, the proper name. It was acute indigestion, didn't matter what I ate, thought I had a giant ulcer. After the gum treatment, no more ulcer symptoms, & I didn't gain weight, no more coughing for 1/2 an hour after those first two smokes, that was great, life is good, gotta keep healthy for those grand kiddies ya know! Probably take around 8-12 months before the brain quits thinkin about them if your jaws don't fall off. GOOD LUCK! Been on your channel long time now, big time. I'm a 55 year old auto restoration/shop owner, still poundin on em, love your channel.
As an ex-smoker, I understand and Yes Sir. Get over it. I got hold of one of the stud welders and bought a pry handle from Eastwood and it has worked great for me. Pry on the stud work with the hammer and bam! I think they sell a device to use with your MiG welder to weld the studs. The slide hammers didn’t work too well for me. I was amazed at the way your lead puller worked. Made sense and worked. This is why they say necessity is the mother of invention. It makes me feel so good when something I think of works. You put out some fun and informative videos and We want MORE!!!👍🇺🇸🤙
Really nice job of pulling and straightening the side of the car. You made it look easy. Cutting that one piece out of the fender and welding it up looks great. Thanks for sharing.
@@aliceshaw8265 Same, I bought my current car from the first owner who was in his mid 90s then and it was so cheap I though I'll just fix it up mechanically and sell it off. Then when I did that I thought might as well fix the body a bit, started ordering parts, etc etc, now its my daily.
Glam Stachee : Yes, like your car, this car has a known history and his friend was the owner. No doubt that this one means more than just another project. Did you notice on a previous video that he said he would not remove the friends name tag on the instrument panel? Yeah, this one is going to be a keeper.
It is a real pleasure to hear the bounce and enthusiasm back, congratulations on your stamina. Your work or play shown is an inspiration to all bearded men working in their garden sheds, a high complement here in the U.K. Thank you and please keep on keeping on.
Really enjoying your repairs and explanations. Years ago at the age of 17 I took on a nasty crunch on a Corvar rear fender. No help, no guidance; just a torch and a come-a-long. Let's just say...i did get it done! ...Newk from Kentucky
I used Trident gum to quit smoking after 14 years. What I tell everyone about quitting is that it is like breaking up with someone. Sometimes you go back and forth and ultimately you have to make the decision that you no longer want them "it" in your life anymore it's tuff but if you believe you are better without them "it" you have to do whatever it takes to stay away! Love the content keep it up!
Awesome work! I've worked in the auto body repair industry for 30 years and have seen many different techniques for pulling sheet metal but you sir have educated me get again, you have inspired me to do so much more, between you and Mustie1 my welding skills have improved dramatically! Thank you! I love making useful things from JUNK or scrap. As far as hearing you chew on candy or gum? I'd MUCH RATHER hear that than hear you smoking a cigarette, I was a smoker for a long time and yes I could tell when you had a cigarette in your mouth. And people who criticize you??? For doing something that helps you live longer??? Well like you Said they can GET OVER IT! Congrats on being a Non-Smoker!
You amaze me on your techniques. Who need an expensive frame and fender straightening machine when you have a rollback and a 6 / 6 piece of lumber. AWSOME!
You were born when I started my mechanics apprenticeship , worked in heavy goods autos and heavy plant , bodys , fabrication , welding , gas stick mig . Resprays , restos , if we never had a panel , we made it by hand with sheet metal did the lot over the years . everything and anything in the trade . I made it my goal to learn as much as I could . Used to have oil in my veins father always said . Always loved the old iron though , real classics , not like the crap they churn out these days . Keep saving the classics Jonathan ,your the top man for finding all these gems .
You are doing a great job on this old Chevy! I live in NC too and currently going through an illness but would love to talk to you about buying an old car project when I get through this. Love your channel and I have learned a lot from you! Best to you and yours Jonathan!
There will be people watching these videos long after we're all gone, more then than now. These videos are only going to get better with age. There's tremendous value here, Jonathan. You need to find someone on Madison Avenue to syndicate and manage rebroadcasts. Car & Driver, Popular Mechanics or Field and Stream, some one of these outfits, or another, will pay for this content. These would make great inflight videos for the airlines. You should be a millionaire by now, Jonathan. Delegate the project, and maybe put the wife to work finding the right promoter and publishing/business manager. There are people all over the world, in Japan, India and China watching these videos right now. Talk about opportunity...
Jonathan- your talents are amazing. I appreciate your work quality and have no doubt the finished product will look simply wonderful. Congrats for the progress achieved thus far.
I wouldn't give the complainers a second thought, you are living the life doing what you want and saving cool old iron. The chevy is looking good can't wait to see the next video!
Your breathing is getting better from the lack of smoke. Nice job on the repair. I have been following you for a while now and very interested in all your projects. Thanks.
Who needs a frame pulling rack when you have a tow truck and a couple of 4x4s? I love it when you improvise with good ole “southern technology” to accomplish your goal without expensive tools. You will have that old Chevy looking pretty straight when you are done!
It is awesome that you are putting this old car on the road. If that is all you do, it is great. If you sell it, the next owner will make it look pretty, but w/o you putting it on the road, there would not be a next owner. Thank you very much.
You are a great narrator, Jonathan. I'm a west coast Canadian with sketchy hearing, and I can understand West Virginian "accent" just fine. So glad you don't add music.
An amazing amount of hard work! I think most people who smoked but quit, never even think about a cigarette anymore. So you'll just have to get over it!

Get over it.. I love it .... good for you!!! Laughed out loud when you said that.
Exactly. Good on you for quitting smoking, Jonathan. We can put up with you having candy in your mouth. Keep up the great videos.
That is the perfect time to use that expression, rather than others blathering in front of a microphone.
Them complaining and running their mouth are dumber than a sack of hammers..
Same here, good for you mate 👍
Jonathen says if your scared dont do it! Lol! I like this guy!
"I'm from West Virginia, so this is actually driver quality now."
You aren't kidding.
Lmao 🤣
Yeah but most people in West Virginia aren’t driving 39 chevy’s or at least not in my neck of the woods.
@@CreatorCade That's kinda sad, when you think about the possibility that they could be, if their folks had hung on to them and kept them up.
I laughed out loud..
Jonathan I’am from West Virginia if you would have put a taillight on it would have better then some I have run
"Get over it"- haha damn strait! It is an interesting turn of events the car would get wrecked and be waiting for you all these years. Thanks for sharing
I started doing autobody work in 1976 , and you never fail to impress me ,my hat is off to you.

“ Get over it how about that” lol too funny.
Jonathan, this is one of my favorite video series you have ever done. So satisfying to see that crunched quarter go away.
And we appreciate you having us Jonathan 👍🏼
It looked like a hopeless mess until you worked your magic!! Great job Johnathan!! Thanks for bringing us along. 😊
That turned out great, especially that lead form. Never would have thought of that. A plus having that spare fender piece.

That crease straightened out nice. Great work.
It's really cool and educational watching this come back together. Sentimental projects are some of the most satisfying to work on.

With body work like that, you keep smacking on that candy and on that car! Looking good.
Great metalwork I know it’s not easy but well worth getting these great cars back on the road.
Awesome work my dad did this type of work after the Korean war I grownup watching him working
