Blink 182 are absolute LEGENDS! One of the best bands to ever do it.

Another of my favourite songs! Yep - spiders eating there insides like indecision - is one of my favourite lines ever in a song because it’s such an accurate metaphor.
Someone suggested Adams song -yep a good deep themed song you’ll pick apart but for a good laugh you also need to to do ‘All the small things’ especially in relation to ‘boy band’ reactions. Loving these reactions😁

I love this song! The Nightmare before Christmas line was added at the request of the drummer Travis Barker in honour of his then wife who loves the movie so much it was part of the theme of their wedding. The song was influenced by a song by The Cure called The Love Cats. It's a great song...if you want to react to it I'm giving a spoiler...the music video was inspired by alcohol. He said it's not near his favourite songs of theirs. composed, recorded, video, production drunk during all of it. *I* like it, but would also recommend their song Lullaby for more spiders lol

I wish some of Blink’s deep cuts would get some reactions on here. I always see this song, All the Small Things, What’s my age again. These are all of their most popular mainstream songs, probably for good reason, but they have so many phenomenal songs that people have no idea exist. I think neighborhoods is one of their best albums throughout, but it gets largely ignored, even among blink fans.

Im a lifelong blink fan. My number one band man. Here’s an interesting story regarding this song and how it was composed.
Mark is a HUGE nightmare before Christmas fan. Mark is the first guy who sang who made all the nightmare before Xmas references. When they wrote this song, mark and Tom (the other singer obviously lol) actually went into separate rooms alone to write their verse. They knew what pocket they wanted to be in, but they didn’t compose the lyrics together. Two separate rooms writing their own parts and they came out and put it together and it was incredibly crazy how well it all meshed together!
Now I imagine there were a few edits of course, but the fact they wrote their parts without knowing what the other was writing and being able to get into the same headspace as each other because of how closely they had worked together for all those years. Pretty astonishing.

Ooh this song is one of my favorites! I've never watched the music video before though. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but the imagery of the lady stepping on the glass and smiling at the end made me think that she's not afraid of his pain. Like if this whole world is his mind, she's not put off by his "darkness" (baggage/trauma) and is willing to delve into it with him rather than be frightened by it, which is why she's the angel of his nightmare. Great video!

  • @Jacobmelrose26
    @Jacobmelrose26 Před 2 lety +7

You have to understand Blink 182 liked to parody popular music videos back in the day. So if the music video seems over the top dark it's because its meant to be.

Yes, I always thought the video represents his state of mind but it's about being in love for the first time with someone you just met... There are different versions of her that overcrowd his head, hunting him wherever he goes and it goes with the lyrics. They might have just met but he knows they are meant to be(Jack and Sally) that's why he says don't bother flirting or playing games with me I'm already gone mad about you and I miss you. That's the scary though.

I'm late to the show here I know but little bit of info. Around the time of this album they were collaborating with Rob Smith from "The Cure" & actually have a song with him on this album
Now the cure were well known for dark & unusual clothing /make-up & style in the 80s /90s and plus they're film clips are quite funky & unusual but cool as well.
This was way out of left field for Blink as a song & film clip.

In the music, there are some strange images, like a hairless cat, people kissing, and spiders fighting. Let me try to explain what they might mean for you.
    1. Hairless cat: A hairless cat, or Sphynx cat, looks very unusual and is often connected to mysterious or supernatural things. In this video, the cat could represent the strong and open emotions the band members feel when they miss the people they love.
    2. People kissing: The people kissing in the video can show the physical closeness and love that the band members miss when they are away from the people they care about. Kissing is widely seen as a sign of love and affection, so this scene highlights the longing to be close to someone.
    3. Spiders fighting: Spiders can be seen as scary, dark, and dangerous. Showing spiders fighting in the video might represent the difficult feelings and emotional pain the band members go through when they miss their loved ones. It can also show that life and relationships can be unpredictable and challenging.
These images in the music video help create a mood of sadness, mystery, and strong emotions. They give the video a deeper meaning and help viewers connect with the feelings of love, loss, and longing that the song talks about. By using unusual and symbolic images, the video encourages people to think more about the emotions behind the song.

I think you overanalyzed that first bit. I think he just means that much like Nightmare before Christmas they have this dark asthetic, but underneath it they are cheery and bright with one another.
Edit: I guess to be more accurate probably he feels happy and cheerful when they're together. Given what the songs she probably doesn't feel the same x3
