- Many creative projects in Photoshop Elements require making a selection around the main subject.

Luckily recent versions of PSE has a tool that makes this an easy job, but there are limitations. In this video I show you how to use the Photoshop Elements Subject Select Tool and how to overcome problems you may encounter.

Thank you George.
You're welcome Peggy.
Hi George, thanks very helpful. Do you have or will you be showing a method of swapping heads in a group photo?
Here is my video on swapping faces. The same basic technique will work for heads. czcams.com/video/BTevKgZK4xs/video.html
Holy cow did not even know edit / fill selection was there, thanks!
Happy to help!
What are your computer specs? I like how responsive the program is with your system. I need a new computer myself - that’s why I’m asking - thanks.
I have just a cheap HP business computer, nothing special, except for 1 thing. I have a solid state drive (SSD) instead of a standard mechanical hard drive as my main drive. The SSD makes all the difference in how fast a compuer runs. For a really good computer look for one that is made for playing video games, gaming computers have all the best specs for video and photo editing as well.

Great Video, but PSE 15 doesn't have the Subject in the Select
LIke I said, it is a newer feature. This is one of the few new features that I actually like. A couple of others are are Text Tracking (adjusting the space between letters) and Shape Warp, works just like Text warp, but on images.
I'm using PSE 2021, but I'm not seeing the various tools on the left of my screen like in your version. Do I need to turn something on or off?
I am in Expert mode in this video, make sure you are in Expert mode by clicking the Expert tab above the work area. If you are still not seeing the tools panel go to the Window menu and click the Tools panel link. Also check out my new channel just for Photo projects, all of my new PSE videos are going up over there www.youtube.com/@HTGPhoto
George, is there any difference between your paid dvd products from amazon and youtube videos that you publish.
Huge difference. My CZcams videos are practice projects and don't really use much of Photoshop Elements, just the most popular stuff. My training courses teach how to use the complete program, including the Organizer which I don't do CZcams videos on. I demonstrate all the tools, all the options, all the menus, all the panels etc. The CZcams channel was designed as a place to post practice projects for people who have purchased my training. If it ever feels like I am skipping stuff in the CZcams videos it is because they are made for people who have taken the training course.
Also, on Amazon I only sell DVDs for Windows and it is an older style format. My Online versions are better, work with both Windows and Mac, and have higher image quality. The DVDs will be going away by the end of this year. You can get my Online training at www.howtogurus.com.
George, have a question for you.
trying to add stroke to a project picture. ex. the sky I added a different color blue to the picture. when I add stoke to finished pic,
the part that has sky, will not stroke color as other part of pic. appreciate any tips.
The stroke is added to a layer, so you may be adding it to a layer below the new sky. Also check the blend modes, those can affect stroke.
@@HTGGeorge Thank you
What mouse do you use
I use a Corsair gaming mouse amzn.to/4b2QCUd
I am now posting all new Photoshop Elements videos over on my 2nd CZcams channel www.youtube.com/@HTGPhoto. Check it out.
Tried to order your online course, and something went wrong. Selected Pay with credit card said pay and nothing happened.
The credit card processing is handled by PayPal. You will have to contact them about any payment issues, we don't have access to any payment information. Personally I would try it again, there are often temporary glitches on the internet.
First
You're #1
Instead of a mask you can just: file / new / image from clipboard, then add your new background.
The reason for the layer mask is that it allows you to easily made adjustments later. Using new image is just like erasing the background, no ability to make adjjustments. I like to keep my options open.
If not satisfied, can return online course for refund?
I have a 30 day money back guarantee on all of my products. But truth be told, no one has asked for a return on my onilne training in the past 10 years since I started selling that except for one person in Canada who had a bad internet connection.
Thanks!
Thanks Ron! I really appreciate it!
