The lovely Jeremy Brett and the beautiful Twiggy singing (1975). This video is for entertainment purposes only. I have not and will not ever commercially exploit the content

Loved Jeremy when I first came upon the Sherlock Holmes series. Such a lovely speaking and singing voice…but did you know that Jeremy was born “tongue-tied”. I’m not too sure on the medical aspect, but he had surgery (eventually) to correct it and every day of his life; there after; performed vocal exercises without fail.

He was a superb singer and a romantic leading man who, initially did not want to portray Sherlock Holmes. He was a very handsome man and Twiggy is beautiful here. He had a childhood illness that left scarring of the heart valves, leading to an enlarged heart and to his early death. He was the greatest Holmes ever, insisted on keeping to Conan Doyle's dialogue in the stories. He left behind a body of work as Holmes that will never be surpassed.
Thank you for that information. I became a fan of his when I discovered his Sherlock Holmes, a few years back. I've been looking for his work and as so impressed with his talent. So sad that he is gone and was gone, too soon.
My mother saw Jeremy singing in the stage version of 'My Fair Lady' - she thought he was wonderful and was so disappointed when his voice was dubbed for the film. Years later, we both watched him as Holmes and we both fell in love ... her for the second time
@@slyph63 yes Edward that shocked me too!...we have some with baftas with zero talent....Jeremy Brett had it all, brilliant actor, with such a range of talent, handsome, humble, and with great complexity, and emotional intelligence.!!!
God, he was a stunning singer. He would have made an incredible "Phantom Of The Opera" in Lloyd Weber's show. His beautiful face would have been hidden, but his power, grace, and leopard-like sensuality, along with his gorgeous voice, would have blown everybody else off the stage. I have no doubt every woman in the audience would have ended up on the floor. I know I would have. I wish he'd had the chance to do it. Just thinking about what might have been.................love you, Jeremy.
He would have made a great Phantom Of The Opera. He was a great actor. His performance as Sherlock Holmes proves that. I watch it regularly. The acting is superlative. He had to literally drain out his own ebullient personality to portray this dark and eccentric character. That really took some doing. It it so brilliant, that I almost believe that he existed. David Burke and Edward Hardwick actually looked like Victorian gentlemen. They did not have as much to say, but their acting was brilliant. In real life, Jeremy was a really charming man. The difference between him and Holmes is remarkable.

Of course they did. His voice was no match for Bill Shirley. Also Fred has lied until near his death that he was the one singing in My fair lady. Not exactly a nice person
His singing is so beautiful I wish he'd recorded an album of traditional songs or something. It's not just that he has a good voice and an attractive timbre which he does... but his enviable diction in ordinary speech carries into his singing and his phrasing is, as a consequence, exquisite. Add to that a natural talent for emoting and he's really perfect for this type of music, and needless to say this is my favorite rendition of the song "she moves through the fair." ^_^
'Exquisite' is the best word I can find for Mr. Brett; he carefully doesn't overwhelm his co-star, but his skill is still evident. Never thought much of Twiggy before this; how pleasantly surprising to see more than a cute name and underfed figure.

When Twiggy introduced Jeremy there should have been a HUGE APPLAUSE, these people don't know this great man, he was the greatest actor and human being ever!!
The nearest thing is "Bending the Willow: Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes" by notable Sherlockian Scholar David Stuart Davies. It is not actually a biography, as it focuses mostly on the Granada production, but as Jeremy WAS that production, it has a lot of first hand interviews and interesting tid-bits about him and his life during his years making the show. Sadly, it's incredibly rare and copies sell for stunningly high prices. I wish you the best of luck finding it.
"she moved through the fair"!! i love this song! i was introduced to this song by Celtic Woman! Jeremy is full of surprises! RIP he's truly an artist in every sense!
JB is fabulous & along with David Burke, create the zenith of perfection in portraying THE ADVENTURES OF SHERLOCK HOLMES. I just viewed "The Norwood Builder," sensational! Suzanne...Hilo, Hi.
In an interview he once said he was disappointed to learn that they would dub his voice. They told him they wanted a younger and higher tenor voice for the part. I think they chose wrongly.
Oh this is just delightful ❤ Came here via a kind fellow watcher of Neil Sean’s Podcast about the forthcoming musical of Twiggy’s life. Always loved Twiggy, such an icon and inspiration in my teens. An unstarry multi talented star if ever there was one. First fell in love with Jeremy Brett as D’Artagnan and loved everything he was in. Such talent and charisma. Shed quite a few tears at his solo, as it was one of my late mother’s favourite songs. I can see this becoming a favourite video. 😊👏🏻❤
I remain mystified that this lovely man, whom I had the pleasure of seeing on stage several times, was not allowed to do his own singing as Freddie Eynsford-Hill in "My Fair Lady."
@AMT yes, the studio didn't like Jeremy Brett's singing voice, so they had a studio singer, Bill Shirley, dub him. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Shirley
@AMT my late partner and I saw Jeremy Brett and Edward Hardwicke recreate their rôles onstage in 1988 in London, in the stage play by Jeremy Paul, "The Secret of Sherlock Holmes." We went to London twice a year for 27 years and pretty much for me these trips were all about the theater. For this particular show, the tickets were present from the woman who was our agent for the short-term holiday flats we rented for many years. Unfortunately, she gave us tickets that were first row center -- unfortunate because there was a fog machine used to recreate 1890s London to which my other half was severely allergic. After the First Act he left, and I finished on my own, while he recovered at a pub off the King's Road in Chelsea, where I met him after the show was over. We also saw him once before that on Broadway in a revival of the Frederick Lonsdale play, "Aren't We All," starring Rex Harrison and Claudette Colbert in the mid-80s. What was particularly interesting about that is that Jeremy Brett replaced the actor John Michael King. John Michael King was the original Freddie Eynsford Hill in the very first production of "My Fair Lady!" That was a lovely evening. The late Lynn Redgrave was also in the play, and the first time I saw her on stage was at age 16 in 1967, in the Peter Shaffer one act plays "Black Comedy" and "White Lies," but that is his story for another day. By the way, "The Secret of Sherlock Holmes" is on CZcams with Brett and Hardwicke, but not having seen it I can't vouch for the print.
@AMT I was very lucky to have seen Rex Harrison on stage three times. In addition to the Lonsdale play, my other half and I saw him, also with Ms Colbert, in William Douglas-Home's "The Kingfisher," in 1978 when I was 27 years old. Ms Colbert, then 75, was absolutely ravishing, but Harrison's was by far the bigger role. The show is stolen by the great character actor George Rose, playing Harrison's manservant. We also saw Harrison in Maugham's "The Circle," with Glynis John's and Stewart Granger, in Boston.
@AMT Glynis Johns was about 67 or 68 when I saw her in "The Circle." I saw Gielgud on stage twice -- when I was 15 I went with my aunt to see Gielgud in the title role of Chekhov's "Ivanov," co-starring Vivien Leigh (an obsession of mine since age 9, whom I also saw in "Tovarich" when I was 12) at the Colonial Theater in Boston. Ms Leigh was only in the first act as her character dies. I still have my playbill from 56 years ago. Then, in 1988, we went to his final West End show, "The Best of Friends," which is essentially three people reading letters they have written to each other. By then he was in his mid-80s, and although he was marvelous, clearly had issues remembering lines. I have had really a charmed Life as a theater-goer. It wasn't until my 50s did it occurred to me that as a teenager I was very blasé about having seen Vivien Leigh on stage not once, but TWICE. Now I am absolutely marveling that I had such experiences.

Ainda assim, um homen de Bem, um gentleman até o final! Descanse em paz, Jeremy Brett! Nós o amamos e guardamos a sua Arte em nossos corações!
What a wonderful clip. Thank you for uploading! I was lucky enough to meet Jeremy several times when he was in The Secret of Sherlock Holmes at Wyndhams. I treasure those memories. gorgeous, beautiful, breath taking... his voice, his face.. he was so wonderful. thanks again.
we miss him!
When Twiggy introduced Jeremy there should have been a HUGE APPLAUSE, these people don't know this great man, he was the greatest actor and human being ever!!
همیشه همینطوره دوست عزیز😢
Fantastic. Gorgeous. He is the best.
I've never heard Twiggy sing, she's so good!
Good god, I had no idea he could sing! What a voice!
A very talented guy!
Jeremy had a lovely voice why oh why was it dubbed over in My Fair Lady.
+Audrey Thompson Not positive but perhaps they needed a voice that had a 'younger' timbre than his (which is, in any case, fantastic!).
I completely agree!!
In an interview he once said he was disappointed to learn that they would dub his voice. They told him they wanted a younger and higher tenor voice for the part. I think they chose wrongly.
I’d like somebody to post the original take with his voice.
@@johnnybeanz1296 That doesn't exist. There are youtube videos with his voice on many songs, but not from My Fair Lady.
I absolutely love this, it's wonderful to hear Jeremy singing!!

@AMT Glynis Johns was about 67 or 68 when I saw her in "The Circle."
I saw Gielgud on stage twice -- when I was 15 I went with my aunt to see Gielgud in the title role of Chekhov's "Ivanov," co-starring Vivien Leigh (an obsession of mine since age 9, whom I also saw in "Tovarich" when I was 12) at the Colonial Theater in Boston.
Descobri o maravilhoso ator Jeremy Brett durante a Pandemia do Novo Coronavírus!
They should have let him sing in My Fair Lady. Lovely and expressive voice.
He's versatile and it's a pity he died young.... ❤️❤️💔
😢
What a wonderful clip. Thank you for uploading! I was lucky enough to meet Jeremy several times when he was in The Secret of Sherlock Holmes at Wyndhams. I treasure those memories. His voice has a beautiful timbre and he has perfect intonation. I understand why he was dubbed in My Fair Lady, but it's a shame he never made a recording of On the Street Where You Live. I always associate that song with him.
+beckynahmad I agree Jeremy and Christopher lee as duo would be marvellous.
I envy you
You were lucky to see him Becky.
