Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa (subclass 482), popularly referred to as the “TSS visa” is the most common long duration temporary work visa for Australia.
You can apply for the TSS visa if you are sponsored by a company to work in Australia.
Here is an overview of what the TSS visa allows you (and your family - partner and children) to do in Australia:
Live in Australia for a period of up to 2 years for the shorter term
4 years for the medium term (longer term)
Work for the sponsoring company
Travel in and out of Australia repeatedly while holding the visa
Study in Australia for the period of the visa validity
You (and your family) must have your own private health insurance for your stay in Australia
While it sounds straightforward, the TSS (482) visa comes with its strict requirements and obligations on both the sponsoring business and the sponsored TSS visa applicant.
The medium-term stream if the TSS visa also allows you to apply for a RSMS subclass 187 permanent visa under the Transition stream.

My brother is currently studying certificate IV in commercial cookery and will finish on November 2022. He has already been working as a chef in a fine dining restaurant since August 2020. Since the government allowed more than 20 hours work, he has one full time experience by now. My concern is, after finishing the course does he need to gain 2 year work experience for 482 visa or the current experience could be used for that purpose? Please note the employer is willing to sponsor him. Please reply and thar would be really helpful.

Yes, you can start collecting your work experience to apply for a 482 visa. Please remember that you may need to get a skill assessment to apply for a 482 visa for some actual passport holders.

Does the US have an international trade obligation with Australia?
Yes, there is a Free Trade Agreement between Australia and US. However, it does not affect 482 visa or any other visa. We may need to wait for the Australia Federal Election result, as it could have some impacts on some visa like Agriculture Visa.

HI Darwin, there are some exemptions for your age if you can earn high income to be eligible for the exemption or if you have been holding a 457 since 2017 you can be waived.
Otherwise, you will not be eligible for PR.

You would be in a better position to ask for a 186 for PR once you are in Australia working on a 482. The ability to progress to PR depends on if you have a short term (usually no PR path) or medium term (PR path) occupation. With the medicum term occupations, if you have a postive skills assessment you can do a Direct Entry 186, straight to PR. Otherwise, there is the Temporary Transition 186, requiring three years with the same employer.

Unfortunately, there is no concession for Age in the 186 visas. 45 is the limit.
If you are exceptional talent or highly skilled workers, you may be interested in Global Talent Visa, business visa with no age limit or even Employer sponsorship program.

186 is a straight permanent residency, if you can get 186, you do not have to worry about the permanent residency here.
482 is a temporary visa that has a pathway to permanent residency.

Hi, thanks for the video, I've been offered visa TSS 482 medium term recently, however, may I know if there is any difference in terms of benefit between PR (subclass 186) and this TSS? the reason of this question is because I will bring my wife and my daughter who is 6 years old together with me and would love to know if there is any huge difference in terms of insurance, schools, or other fees. Yes, there are many ways to go for work in Australia. The video is about employer sponsorship program, you may have to find an employer who is willing to sponsor you and your occupation must be listed in the skilled list of 482 visa.

My employer applied for it for software engineer stream and they are saying it will take maximum 3-5 weeks.. is that really true or the wait period may go over 6 to 8 months also ?
