  • My adventures of planting soybeans for only the second time ever! The forecast is dry for the next week, so this could get interesting. Here's hoping! Thanks for watching!

      I love that sound, it reminds me of my Grandpa. He bought a new WD45 in 1953 when he started farming on his own, and he never sold it. My uncle has it now. Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for watching!!!

      @@evanaustin2636 When I was about 9 dad always said when you can reach the peddles on the WD I'll let you run it. Well I got to spend a lot of time on it disking with a 8 foot pull type disk going over 50 acres with dad close by on the Oliver 70 and my uncles on an 8N Ford and Farmall H. The next spring I got to start plowing with the WD and 3x14"s and I was really hooked on plowing and still am ! In high school a boy in the FFA rebuilt a WD45 that would pull 4x14"s in 3 gear ! I had our D15 and 3x16"s and he just walked away from me plowing and to this day I have no idea what he did to that engine in that WD45 to get that much power out of it. Watching you plow and work the ground brought those good old days back to me and its music to my ears hearing the WD bark ! I just got done with crops myself and now I hope to catch up on video's now the work is done and I got some free time ! Bandit

    I watched a video of a guy using old equipment he found and made work. Nothing ran or worked before he started working on it. He literally got year and a half old seed and chemical, a sprayer that was old as jesus 😂 and had a borrowed JD 95 combine. Not sure on the acres, maybe 10-15ish and made a profit of $415 after everything! You got this!!!

      @@crestviewfarm5229 Good deal! Geiger farm suggested next time that I pull a cultipacker behind the drill to get better seed to soil contact, so I will probably do that more in the future. I had the drill behind the disc because I needed to make a second pass with the disc and I was trying to save a pass over the field. Needing some rain now, very very dry here.

    The old AC WD45 did a nice job. I planted an acre of sweet corn last year, hoping to sell it at my cousin's Creamery. The deer and raccoons completely destroyed it. Until I can figure out how to keep them pit guess I'll stick to growing hay. At least I made money off my hay fields.

    Evan I'm always late anymore, but man that was worth the wait!! That WD WITH duals is epic!!!! Man I have missed this somehow , and that rig is epic!! How did the rain go afterwards? That lifting rope with the pulley, that looks like it works perfect!!!! Man yeah, sorry for being so late my friend!! Thanks Nelson!!! Well, the rain situation is not looking good. It's dry dry dry, and there is no rain predicted for at least the next 10 days 😟😟The pulley with the rope, let's say when it works good it works good, but it likes to flip itself over and tangle the rope up then it doesn't work worth a darn. The rope used to get stuck in the pulley, I fixed that, but now it's this. I need to bolt it solid then I think it will work better. I do love that tractor with duals on 😍😍 not sure how much it needs them but they look awesome so I'll run them!!! No worries Nelson, you're a busy man! Thanks for watching friend! seed to soil contact is critical. You might think of cultipacking behind the drill?? When we used that style of drill, we usually pulled a cultipacker behind.

      I could go back over it with the cultipacker, but I wouldn’t be able to do it until tomorrow. That will be 3 days after planting, is that too late? I wouldn’t think that would hurt the beans, but my knowledge is pretty minimal. Thank you Jack for sharing your knowledge with the yahoos like me, i am grateful! Hope you have a good day Sir!!!

      I'm sure you'll be able to spray your beans for grass but with organic the cultipacker is about your worst enemy when it comes to grass and weeds, it will help the soybeans but it also helps the grass grow 😆, I used the cultipacker one year and never looked at it again lol...... it looked to me that you had enough loose soil and moisture that you'll end up with a good stand. 👍

      @evanaustin2636  Před rokem +2

      Thanks Tim! I love how that tractor looks with the duals on, not something you see every day! I started pulling the drill behind the disc a couple years ago because at the time I was racing a rain and I needed to disc again before I could drill, and I actually liked how it worked out, mostly getting rid of my tire tracks in front of the drill. I guess I got lucky that I have an 8 foot disc and an 8 foot drill. For a combine, I've got an Allis All Crop 72. I need to rebuild the sickle I'm hoping to get that done before I cut my little wheat patch. Thanks for watching Tim!
