- In today's video, we will be shopping and crafting a toy for my parrot. My parrot is a troll. Let's go to a parrot toy store and pick up some DIY items!He has such a funny sense of humor. My parrot is a Goffin's Cockatoo. Please, do NOT get a pet parrot unless you are willing to adopt those who have been abandoned. Most parrots are rehomed about 7 times in their lifetime because people do not research enough how noisy, messy, expensive, and needy parrots are.

They do! At my local parrot store, one of their resident birds plucked out all the feathers on his chest because his person that he bonded to moved away before buying him and couldn't take him.
That store is bird heaven. Parrots are cute but I agree pricey. All those price tags are scary but he is a pretty bird and deserves it. His head bobbing is too cute and precious.

I found my bird (he's a Goffin Cockatoo) in the side of the road he was covered in ashes and burns, he was dumped and I took him home and put up posters at the vet and no one claimed him so I kept him... And I love him to pieces. He's my baby.. .

Back at my parents home, we have a Monk Parakeet called Crocks. He loves anything made out of wood and will ABSOLUTELY DESTROY IN SOME DAYS. He also likes plastics that makes lots of noises. Here in my house I have two budgies. My blue one, Alexa, loves mirrors and bells and my yellow/green one, greg, is scared of most of his toys (he was mistreated back at the pet shop he lived and has his legs and wings crooked).

My parrot clips the clappers out of bells, because even he doesn't like them. And got bored one day demolished a 2x4 one bite at a time.
I recycle his toys. I buy him new ones, or make one out of new parts, but I have a box of the chains, acrylic parts, big chunks of wood, and I'll make toys out of that to swap back in.

Birds are very similar to rats in the way they need lots of textures and stimulation to keep them from DESTROYING everything in their cage.
Your rats need to run loose in your room!
Honestly I think all animals need stimulation or they will destroy everything. The only exception would probably be fish and snakes, and maybe some other reptiles. But cats, dogs, other mammals, they all need lots of stimulation.

@@garage_goblin fun thing. I thought that too. I found my first bird (Alekto) outside. Shes a verry friendly bird and got clingi fast. She wanted to do evrything with me and she was quite loud. She always let out these ear pircing crys sometimes for more than an hour at a time. At that point i was seriously doubing my dicision to get a second one and sadly even if i was able to keep her. Luckily someone told me to get a second one after the holding period. I did that. Nocturn told Alekto how to bird. Shes not so clingy any more and she stopped yelling. The only sounds i hear now are him singing the one or other song for her or when they lose each other for a Minute. They dont leave each others side. So yes i know were your comming from but i can tell you from my exoerience getting a second one was the best decision for me and Alekto that i have ever made

I cant explain how happy it makes me to see pets well taken care of. I work at a shelter. So i see all of the abused. Ignored. Neglected. And pets just badly wanting attention. So we take them in, love them, care for them, and get them into good homes. And sometimes.... we get to see them months after when they are happy and healthy and look amazing. One of my faves gets to go to work with her owner. He has her in private training classes. Another dog had to come back to us for a few days for a treatment and when her owners picked her up, they were almost on tears saying it had been a sad few days without their robin. It means so much to see someone love them the way you did when they were in your care.
And seeing the love and care you give Angel is amazing.

I know I have commented this a few times prior, however, I would like to reiterate how pleased I was when I came to CZcams to watch your video today to see that it featured Angel!
I am a exotics veterinarian and fellow Canadian, I work predominantly with birds, reptiles, amphibians, and different types of "pocket pets". I have spent multiple years working at a large animal shelter where one of my main jobs was to create treatment plans for large parrots who had been previously neglected and had became ill due to neglect and improper husbandry. So I have unfortunately seen the worst of the worst. I warmed my heart watching your video Jackie! I absolutely love that you explain how much work and money owning a parrot is. Your explanation of his needs and requirements was dead on, and I can't begin to tell you how much informative videos like this one mean to me and other exotic vets and avian specialists who are actively trying to prevent the capture of wild birds and purchasing of birds without proper caging or meeting of health requirements.
I will continue to express my gratitude for your bird related videos as you release them. I plan on providing the link to this video for all new or struggling bird owners who come to me with foraging and toy related questions.
Also, what a FANTASTIC store this man is running! I have travelled a lot for my work and visited many stores similar, however, none of them had close to the number of toys and toy supplies as this store! You are very lucky to have access to this store! I wish you continued success with your CZcams channel, great job!

I want a birb but am too busy to properly take care of one, so I follow a lot of bird Instagram accounts. There are so many great ones that post daily pictures and videos of their birds' adventures, and it kinda satisfies the craving. So if you want more birds in your life, there's also that.

Love the foraging toys! Those of us with pet rats know to go to the bird section of the pet supplies store for great foraging toys for our ratties. Rats, like birds, are super intelligent and curious and need tons of mental stimulation. Angel is a lucky bird to have found a better home with a “mom” who’s so invested (emotionally and financially) in his well-being.
All rodents approve of foraging toys…..they are indeed very intelligent clever little critters, I always make my chinchillas and my hamster work for their treats.

Do you have a window that opens or a porch? Get a bird feeder! Then you too can "have" a bird with none of the work. (Almost none, you'll need to keep the feeder full and clean bird crap off your porch)

when you first introduced angel i didn’t like him. he didn’t act like normal house birds. but that’s because he isn’t a normal house bird, and i judged him way too soon.
he seems so sweet, and like a good companion!! i’m excited to see more of him 💜
