Even though Plant's had difficult times with his vocal chords, he's clearly much more musical at singing than Vetter. That's obvious here on same stage.
@@DG-sf9ei They're 2 completely different genres of singing my guy. Robert probably couldn't sing a pearl jam song. Also, it's either Stayley or Cornell you wanna compare to other vocalists. Those were the best ones from that Era. Even Weiland has more going in his voice. Eddy can just sing with emotion, and he does a phenomenal job at that

Robert's voice in this sounds almost just the same in the late 70's when the song was originally made and recorded for Zeppelin's last album which what makes this show even cooler.
I agree, I'm sure they didn't think anything about recording it professionally, and so we're stuck with 2005-era cellphone quality. But at least the audio is good!
Oct 2005 a benefit for Katrina. Tickets were $1,000 each. Everything going to charity. PJ first on bill, tickets wern't selling well at that level...Plant was in Chicago recording a concert for PBS...Plant was added to the concert. Even with that, only about 800 tickets were sold. HOB Chicago was maybe half full..one of the greatest concerts I have ever seen in my life. As good as this sounds, you could not even imagine how great it was live. Anyone who was there will agree with me.
Its got to give Robert great pride seeing a different generation singing this near 30 year old song word for word with him!! The complete Zeppelin catalog has a special magic too it !!
OOHH MY GOODNESS TWO OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITES ROBERT PLANT AND EDDIE VEDDER SINGING TOGETHER!! IF HAVEN'T SEEN IT, EDDIE SINGS WITH THE ROLLING STONES "WILD HORSES" ITS INCREDIBLE JUST LIKE THIS!! I HAD ALL LED ZEPPELIN ALBUMS AND I HAVE ALL PEARL JAM ALBUMS!! THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS AWESOME AND BEAUTIFUL VIDEO!! 😊💓🔥🤘✌️
Great performance! My favorite Led Zeppelin song, sung only this once. I know it's a very musical song but they stripped it down some and it still sounds fantastic. I would LOVE to see Robert perform it again.
Live and off the cuff ...Plant decades later...Plant created this and PJam are just the big multi-genre classic rock fans we all are. Bravo for trying this out!
yes but the samba part sucked!! This IS MY FAVORITE JAM by ZEPPELIN!! and its the first time ever live, i wish Robert would have sung all the way through and i wish the person taking the video would have gotten it from the beginning, but i am grateful for the upload and the fact they fixed the audio..and the samba portion well... and the slo..agian well.. but its not fair to compare a studio version of page with anyone else.. and I know PJ are huge ZEP fans as well.. but i would have given my right arm to have seen this show!!
he tried...it's not quite perfect, and you can see the guitarist struggling to keep time, cause the drummer isn't holding onto both sides properly (the bass part and the guitar part are played in different times, the drummer pulls them together). The song sounds imple, it ain't. It's one of the most complicated drum songs in the history of rock.
I'm been waiting for a live version 2 this is great. Robert done a killer live version pearl jam's Eddie vedder did great thanks breathing some life into this song
The really amazing thing about this is that it is the first time that Plant has sung the song live, Zep never did it due to needing two guitarists, a bassist and a pianist (Page and JPJ were amazing, but even they couldn't pull that off)
Mr. Weir, I agree Mr. Plant sang so well made my heart sing hearing him along the old-ways again gave this Seattellite shivers one more time i think mr. vedder was paying tribute in this performance of course they let their hero dominate
THANK YOU for posting this! I was a teen working in a record store when this came out. I absolutely loved this track and it got tons of radio play. As I understand this was the first time that Plant had performed it live.
Omg they ROCKED i'll give credit they did well and it had to be a dream to play with such a ROCK ICON! Kudos to all who made that happen and lucky for the peeps watching!
I hate to agree, but it kinda goes for the whole band. But the best way to look at this is -- _a great band's fond homage to the most brilliant rock band of all time_
Pretty good job covering that darn-near impossible drum rhythm!! You can tell that PJ were big Zep fans and showed the greatest musical respect one can: covering your song. I'm glad Plant's still singing here, though. I couldn't imagine this song with any other vocalist.
arguably matt cameron has been in the two greatest rock bands of the last twenty years, soundgarden and pearl jam...he can play a lot of styles and has solidified pearl jams sound over the last eight years...that being said i think we can all agree that bonham has few peers, maybe neil pert, maybe the guy from the police. jmo
@Grungeman23 yes. There are some bootleg versions of Zeppelin performing it in Germany in 1980 before Bonham died. There pretty spot on too. It's great live.
I have a bootleg from the European tour of 1980 and was thrilled to see that they had played Hot Dog and All My Love, I didn't know about Carouselambra and Fool in the Rain for the US tour. PIty:(
To anyone that is doubting Pearl Jam's drummer, it happens to be none other than Matt Cameron, who was the drummer for Soundgarden as well. So there is no WAY anyone can dispute his drumming prowess. Play any studio or live recording. No one can top Bonham, but he's come as close as anyone.
Heard this, about 3 hours after they performed it on "The Led Zeppelin Hour" on WLUP 97.9 FM, Chicago. I could hardly believe my ears. .. Before You-Tube, "The Led Zeppelin Hour" was the only source for unofficial Zep recordings around here. Short of buying a bootleg album.
I've waited 28 years to hear Led Zeppelin/Robert Plant perform this song live. It was worth the wait. Thank You for the post!
And that's 44 years for me. Wow.
Pearl Jam and Plant, Holy mother of god.
Even though Plant's had difficult times with his vocal chords, he's clearly much more musical at singing than Vetter. That's obvious here on same stage.

Only my two favorite bands playing my favorite song. Together.
J K you can't put period till the end of the sentence.

Plant gives a master class. This sounds great!
This performance deserves way better quality. It's too damn good!
yeah, but the crowd singing along just raises the level of joy
I agree, I'm sure they didn't think anything about recording it professionally, and so we're stuck with 2005-era cellphone quality. But at least the audio is good!
two of my favorite singers doing one of my favorite songs

Think you mean just over 40 year old song...
Vetter and Pearl Jam are the sheep with everything to gain here. Plant and Zep are at the highest point of the musical mountain in music.
One of the most underrated videos on CZcams
This video needs to be preserved at all costs !!
Whoever thought of a Plant/Vedder duet needs a cookie.

Ive been a Pearl Jam fan for 25 years and totally forgot this gig happened!!! Thank you!!!
Eddies dance moves kill me. Ohhhhh seeing these two groups together would be a dream come true. What a great performance.
Heaven. The two greatest of all time.
Great performance! My favorite Led Zeppelin song, sung only this once. I know it's a very musical song but they stripped it down some and it still sounds fantastic. I would LOVE to see Robert perform it again.
Astral Frost for real! this is a rare video! The percussion break, its all Bonzo, he's the man.

@Iceman 23 ask the 11 people that liked my comment lol
This song gets better n better amazing
Dammit.... this is just some of the finest stuff ever.
And drums are perfect ! (and for true Zep fans, that is highly important).

Same here. Biblical.
Drums are no where near perfect!
Donny Domingo yep! Not even close. He also butchered Achilles Last Stand at MSG during TotD 25th

A truly glorious posting. Two of the greatest singers in rock history.
Cameron keeping it together and killing it!
Epic performance. Two generations of rock heroes.
Robert Plant's Voice...Just incredible.

Shame he never tried doing this song with his other bands. 🤷♂️
Hooked on.this song lately
feeling pearl jam and plant together and the crowd and the joy
It is impossible to describe Plant. What a man. What a voice. What a legacy.
Eddie turn little

How did I not know about this until now! Spectacular!!
This is a layer of total greatness on top of a layer of total kick ass. This is incredible.
Love this, thanks for posting!
His voice sounds literally the same as on the record. Jesus.
A humbling experience for Pearl Jam. Plant is a fucking legend
Two amazing distinct voices and a great fun song. Drummer did great but it really highlights the level Bohnam was.
Wow! What a performance. Doesn't get any better!
Beautiful song. One of the Best Ever !
Eddie & Bob Plant.... the best vocalists of the world... my 2 favorite bands....
Stone Gossard has said many times Led Zeppelin and Jimmy Page was the biggest influence on his playing. He must of been thrilled!!
oh hell yeah
Both artists are amazing! and pearl jam did a great job with the music part!
"i never remember me own words"
lucky bastard the one who caught the lyrics sheet
I would've paid $1000 to see my two favorite singers. If Chris Cornell (My third favorite) I would've given my kidney to see them.
please don‘t give your vital organs for a rocknroll band.
First and only time done live. A real gem!
Omg they ROCKED i'll give credit they did well and it had to be a dream to play with such a ROCK ICON! Kudos to all who made that happen and lucky for the peeps watching!
This is so good I could cry
Listening to Plant next to Vedder so brings to light just how much Plant is in a class all his own.
I hate to agree, but it kinda goes for the whole band. But the best way to look at this is -- _a great band's fond homage to the most brilliant rock band of all time_
thankyou uploaderson
Man, Vedder does a great job and sounds way more like Plant than I had ever imagined

My god, plant's voice is still so good. What a unique vocal range he has..
HISTORY!
WOW excelente Robert plant y pearl jam juntos!!!! De lujo!!!!
Take Robert Plant in his prime vs Eddie Veddder, no contest. The man from England wins
+justmadeit2 Vedder is a natural baritone, the fact that he can even come close to hitting those high notes is amazing.
+Brian Patraw Ha, no big deal, right?
Seriously. Gees.

simply amazing. pearl jam = best band of today with plant, vocalist of the best band ever. tasty

This is literally one of the greatest things I have ever seen!!! :-D shhhh with your Vedder v. Plant bickering christ guys
Robert Plant has been observed at several pj shows in the last couple of years. He is a big fan!

I can die now. I have seen it all!
I agree with Mr. Weir as well, great post son
This is great! Is the DAT copy of the whole show available somewhere? Great show!
Fuckin awesome!! Just brilliant!!
This was great. Wish the video was better and shame Led Zeppelin never played this live :/
im just glad their drummer got the shuffle right!!!
Shit!! Watching and listening PJ playing the Samba part...how bizarre and cool at the same time. Good rendition and thumbs up to Plant and Vedder.
WELL said VegasRage!!
The crowd cheering for Eddie when he starts singing!!
"... the led zeppelin of our era."
except they have lasted longer and none of them has died, thank goodness. and thank you, pearl jam!
