Hello! Tell me please. There is such a tape recorder. What function does the aux connector perform on it? I tried to connect my smartphone via aux, but for some reason there is no sound. And so the tape recorder works great. But only the model I have is not ctr80, but ctr70
I'm thinking the meter is there to show there's audio on a Computer Cassette tape. No need for an internal speaker if your only using this with a computer.
The jack is probably a DC power input. That's why the battery wires were disconnected.

I had a ctr 40 in 1976, everything except the counter. Playback is awful as it records dc bias
