Basic Guinea Pig Supplies

- In this video I go over some basic must have guinea pig supplies, they include:
- Adequate sized cage
- Bedding (Aspen, Carefresh, or Fleece) Never use pine!
- Ceramic food bowl
- Water bottle
- Timothy Hay, alfalfa can be offered to pigs under 6months
- Timothy hay based pellets
- Chew toys (wooden, loofah etc.)
- House (preferably wood)
- Cleaning Supplies (broom/dustpan, cage wipes, bottle cleaner)

I've been sitting here for an hour or so watching your piggie how-tos. You are a great pig mum, and I love your little videos. :) Your love for those furbabies is so evident, and it's also obvious how much they trust and adore you. Thanks so much for all the info and videos you have posted. I am quite impressed with your work, as well as your obvious intelligence in your internet behavior. Most people never consider keeping their faces out of videos they post, but I find it to be safest and give you lots of kudos for your savvy. We just got our first piggies today, Punkin and Bae. They are both females, Punkin was a bit older (6 months) and needed a rescue since no one had bought her from the pet store and she arrived as a baby. Bae is a baby but they were both from the same store and are getting along very well so far. We bought (2) 8 sq ft habitats and connected them so that our new babies have lots of room to roam. They have a house in each section, as well as a soft bed in one and a cardboard tunnel in the other. I also bought a couple cups of grass since we live in a desert and grass is rare to find in yards full of rocks and dirt. They really seem to love the grass, and we have the cups clipped to the side of the habitat. We went with Carefresh paper based bedding as suggested and since it is difficult to secure fleece to the canvas bottom of the habitats. Just really wanted to say thanks for the wealth of information you have been kind enough to share, please give love to Pash, Cappy, Juno, Pippin, and Winnie from Mona and Heaven.and our new piggies Punkin and Bae

I'm so excited to be getting my Guinea Pig in the next couple of months. Unfortunately I can't get one until I get my apartment and I can't get my apartment until I have a 'grown-up job'. However, I haven't had a Guinea Pig since I was 13 and I'm now 19 almost 20 so this gives me time to do research and plan out everything I need to do.

Miss Cavy I have the money for two guinea pigs and I want two of them but my parents say I can only get one. I told them that Cavies are sociable pets nut they still say I can only get one. Any ideas because I want her or him to be happy?

A great piggy starter kit is the oxbow dwarf rabbit/guinea pig cage kit. It comes with a large hay rack, food dish, hut/loft and a water bottle. It is also very good quality. I currently have the oxbow kit for my piggy. (I wouldn't use the water bottle though. It is SUPER leaky. I would get a different one.)

Do you use a 1/8th cup measurement per pig every day? I was just wondering because some people measure it out 😊

hello i am getting a guinea pig in two days and only one because my mom does not want me to get two and would it be ok if i have a cage that is 3 and a half feet long and 2 feet wide is that fine douse if thats all the room we have if you could get back to me thanks

I don’t have a pig but I am doing as much research as I can to convince my parents to get me one. They said I have to prove to them I can have a pig by researching about them and knowing all they need to live. The one problem is that my dad said that the pigs stink, is their anything I can do to make them smell good using fleece. Also I have dogs even though they don’t come near my room upstairs, they bark time to time downstairs will that effect the way they live. If so, how can I make them feel comfort when I am not at home and the dogs are barking
My guinea pigs are very shy and hide every time I come into the room. I got them at petco and they have never been tamed. They run and hide every time they see me. How do I get them to stop being so scared? They are very scared. I have had them for about a month and I am the only one who takes care of them. I clean there cage every day from there poop messes. I totally clean about twice a week. So what do I do to make them not so scared.
So my female guniea pig gave birth to 2 babies on Sunday, August 13th and one baby is a male and the other is a female and I was wondering when do i need to separate the male form it's mom and the other baby?

Ok I have a question I just got a guinea pig yesterday,i was wondering if you can put guinea pigs together whenever you please or will they fight cause id like to get my guinea pig a friend but i didnt know if u can just put them together or add a guinea pig to one you already have or if they will fight

.... I give him timothy hay and Timothy hay based pellets. Is that ok? Bc people say guinea pigs under 6 months should have. Alfalfa hay and Alfalfa based pellets. Is it ok to give my 3 month old piggie Timothy hay ?

They might fight because I think males are quite dominant soooo.......
So exciting piggies are so cute make sure you watch the boys they do have fights but boys can be more friendly with you I have two girlies

What type of cage is pash inside of
Timothy hay is fine for all piggies. Alfalfa is just recommended for young pigs because it is high in calcium (this is also why it shouldn't be fed to adult pigs). You can just give your pig a bit of alfalfa hay each day while he is young and still growing :)
Hey I was wondering where you got the wooden beds for your piggies. I would love to get a couple for my piggies. Do you think a bed would be okay for a rabbit

You can buy them on amazon just look for guinea pig houses or guinea pig toys

What would you say is your favorite guinea pig breed? The American short hair or abnissain? Bc although all ur guinea pigs are mostly abnissain except for pash . Cappy was the reason why all pippin Juno and Whinnie Are abnissain so u had no control over that. Witch one do u like better ?

hi i'm going to get 2 pigs and i have a question on cages,at first i'll buy a store cage, i think that after 1 year or so i'll try to convince my parents for c&c cage(it's been hard ALL READY to convince them to get 2 pigs)and the cage i'll get will be 110x70cm and i can take the top of.I know its probably to small for 2 pigs so i will have a play pen,that is pritty big,that i'll attach at the cage and the pigs will be able to use it 24h and they'll have play time in lap or...What do you think??

How do you house co-ed pigs together? Are yours spayed/neutered, or were they just young enough at the time of the video to not have to worry about them... er... getting busy?

1. It's a bed. 2. Exercise 3. ITS ADORABLE AS HECK TO SEE THEM JUMP! 4. It's wood, so it could also be used as a chew toy :)

I think you need to readthe ingredient s on Oxbow pallets! I was pretty satisified with buying them up until i heard about the calcium carbonate. And Salt is like the 6th ingredient. Dunno know if that part matters but if you are seeing white spots all over...there ya go..if you are not! Then, u are giving them the right amount for oxbow.
