    Cozumel was my introduction to Mexico 18 years ago and remains in my heart! 🥰Rode a scooter around the entire island and took the ferry to Playa del Carmen! Time for another visit!

      Same, but over 30 years ago. We rented bikes and rode around San Miguel and ended up spending a lot of time eating at small outdoor local restaurants on the east side of town. Oh, and snorkelling with dolphins from our hotel to the Marina and back. The people were all super friendly and the food was incredible. I've wanted to move to Mexico ever since. Once my current family duties are dispatched I'm doing it.

    We started cruising to Cozumel around 2007. Started staying for multiple weeks at a time in 2015. Eventually purchased a retirement property in 2018. After many cruises, visiting the different places we were thinking about retirement, Cozumel just called to us.
    its a magical place. Full retirement is a few years away, but its comforting having your own. Somewhat touristy ( & more expensive) on the front Streets. but we live further back on the island and it helps to know some conversational Spanish. Also, we get to travel there more often, now, that we both work from home now, but its just so disappointing working down there. Coming back in a few weeks for a B-day trip.

    Nice Video! We've (wife and I) always loved Cozumel. One time, we spent 2 full weeks there. Just beach bum'ed it, loved the beaches. Ate at where the locals ate (cheap), enjoyed the people. It was Hot for sure but took some tours to the mainland and enjoyed the various Cenotes. My 1st trip was in early 1980's (diving) and they tore up the main street and put in new piping/sewers. It's changed a lot. Diving paradise, snorkling too if one knows the out of the way places. Knowing some Spanish is a definite plus, more than ordering food and drink. And for the tourists that come to Coz and expect people to jump when they bark..... relax. CHill out. Let them enjoy life as "they" know it. It always gripes me when I see families of tourists bringing their family culture to a place that's heaven. Smell the air, have a drink, a meal, and enjoy the island and island time! Island of Swallows.

    I love Cozumel. We always pick cruises that stop at Cozumel. Dolphinaris is amazing. Isla Pasion too. But we've just walked into town and eaten and that was amazing too. I used to go to Isla Mujeres back when just a party boat went to the island and there was basically nothing there.

    I was wondering how Cozumel compares to Isla Mujeres as far as the cost of retirement for a couple who needs to live with budget under 3k per month? We would rent a 2 bedroom likely. It seems Cozumel is larger than IM. Specifically, is the cost of dining and market food purchases about the same? I know that island produce has to be brought in and costs more than mainland because of that, correct?

    • @MexicoRelocationGuide
      @MexicoRelocationGuide  Před rokem +1

      The costs are about the same for most things. One of the biggest differences is that there are less rentals in Isla Mujeres so the costs of those tend to be higher

    • @MexicoRelocationGuide
      @MexicoRelocationGuide  Před rokem +2

      Puerto Vallarta has more modern infrastructure and I agree that the culture may be one of more personal care for their streets and homes. But the difference is that the beaches are not as nice and it’s more gringo land than Mexico
