I grew up in a country church where these old hymns were sung every Sunday. Later in life I had the privilege of playing the piano for the church for over 20 years and I continued to play them each Sunday. Praise God for such wonderful old inspired hymns. Thank you Gerald for doing this and bringing so much joy to so many. God bless.
I remember my Dad teaching us this song when I was a little girl. I'm 47 and in tears of joy writing this comment because I KNOW HE LIVES!!! Thank you Jesus for what you did for us, we don't deserve it at all. Love, peace and blessings ❤️

I love the old hymns of the Church, unfortunately in my opinion we need to be singing them every Sunday, our children and grandchildren are missing something that cannot be replaced by the modern Church music. There be something that the HOLY SPIRIT can stir the soul and draw people to GOD.
Amen! It's a sad place this world of today. I had no idea growing up in the mid 60's to the late 70's that the "End Times" that my dear Grandmother spoke of would be in my life. But here they are. We are in them. I no longer say, "What's this world coming to!" (For it is already here)... We used to sing them all. One my Grandmother liked particularly was Hymn #150 in our Hymnal at Grace Church in Ridgewood, NJ-- "Day is dying in the west"... This hymn brought her to tears one Sunday in 1969 and I may never know the exact reason. But it spoke to her heart it did!!
Mr Cummings I couldn't agree with you more. The current and upcoming generations are missing out on so much in the messages of the old hymns. We need and we want them back. What a history
For all who suffer from insomnia, The living word of GOD IS TRUTH, & Is sharper than a doubledge sword, meditating by repeating over & over; Psalm 3:5 or 4:8, reading a few chapters before bed or lifting up Prayer, with Prayer warriors, can do more than medication ever will. Believe me, I have tried many kinds of sleep aids. Trusting in Jesus & having Faith, might just change your situation. Thank you Dear Lord for helping me in my times of need, I Praise You, I Worship You & Magnify & Glorify You Dear FATHER in JESUS MIGHTY NAME
The reason the people look so happy is because they are forced to sing "praise band songs" on Sunday morning at whatever Baptist church. Hymns still resonate, regardless of popular culture says
I serve a risen Saviour, He's in the world today I know that He is living, whatever men may say I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer And just the time I need Him He's always near He lives! He lives! Christ Jesus lives today! He walks with me and talks with me Along life's narrow way He lives! He lives! Salvation to impart! You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian! Lift up your voice and sing Eternal hallelujahs to Jesus Christ, the King! The Hope of all who seek Him, the Help of all who find None other is so loving, so good and kind He lives! He lives! Christ Jesus lives today! He walks with me and talks with me Along life's narrow way He lives! He lives! Salvation to impart! You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart
Oh my heavens!!! I haven't heard this song in YEARS. One of my all time favorite hymns. An awesome song to start my morning. I miss hearing these beautiful songs frequently. Thank you for sharing.BRING BACK THE HYMNS AND NOT THAT OTHER STUFF, PLEASE
The first time I ever went to church was Easter Sunday 1969. I was 3 years old. I remember this song, and was amazed at hearing the piano and organ for the first time. Our family came to know the Lord in years to come, and I have been a church pianist/worship leader for the last 42 years.😌
Reminds me of my dad. He loved hymns. And played the organ and piano so great!. Thank you Lord for my dad. He's with the Lord now. And thank you Dad for those memories.
This amazing hymns remember me my young age (67 yoa now) when churches sing the real hymns. Today churches songs are more noise than message. Most churches today not even have the hymnal book. Very sad.
Nivaldo Covolan I couldn’t disagree more. I grew up in a church that only sang hymns, and as a young child and even teen, I didn’t know what the words meant. Many of the hymns were allegories or metaphors that didn’t come out and state the direct message: Bringing in the Sheeves, In the Sweet by and by; etc. if you listen to the words of praise and worship songs, they carry a strong and often more straightforward message. I found that while singing the hymns in church many people did so without feeling, but more as routine and rote.
That’s the truth. I don’t like the new way at all. I was raised in the cotton farm county and went to our beautiful country church with Mom and my little sister. Easter Sunday was so special. Mom made our pretty dresses and matching accessories she bought ar Penny’s. Our church had big Easter egg hunts and a prized goose egg to find. It was all so exciting for all involved. Everyone looked so nice. Thick stained glass gorgeous windows in an old country church, very talented piano player, choir, good pastor, Cemetary beside the church, on a gravel road. Fresh floral arrangement sitting in front. Many good memories from the 60-70’s there.
I learned this song at a youth rally at the church that I grew-up in, and that same weekend, I was baptized! I love this song! It make me smile, and fills my heart with joy.
I have loved this song since I was a little girl at Christian Tabernacle in Canton, Ohio!! This song is so divinely ordained by God!! He lives in in this song and in our hearts!! Praise the Lord! I have family in your area. My 94 year old day has testified many times to praying for salvation in one of the Timken mills back in the 1950s
One of my favorites. I've fallen in love with this particular event more than anything. I've heard Gerald say once that there will come a time when no one will sing these old hymns anymore. I'm so thankful that this idea came along and breathed new life into these songs that have been such a huge part of my life. I love these concerts so much that I've been attempting to orchestrate an event like this on my college campus.
+TheInsanegamer697 There's one every three months at the church 5 miles from my college, though directed at the senior fellowship. I single-handedly find myself representing the "under 50" age group, but the old hymns can't be beat.

They touch the heart and encourage people to respond at invitation time. I was a Gideon for years and we sang this hymn during our dinner meetings...its one of my favorites and this interpretation is fantastic. HE LIVES, Amen
Remi..Amen to that! The little country church I grew up in (near Terre Haute IN) had as our Minister of Music and pianist, Noel Longardner, who played and sang with such joy!...his face would just light up a room! Yes this man also leads the song so well!!
I am grateful to say that I am a born again Christian and have been since I was 19.......praise God like this hymn says you ask me how I know He Lives? He Lives within my heart!!!!!! He walks with me and talks with me along life's narrow way!!!!! his Holy Spirit is the one who gave me the grace and strength to place my faith in Christ and believe He Lives!!!!!! however folks if you don’t know Christ as your savior then it burdens my soul to think that you are headed for a terrible place called Hell where the Bible says the fire is never quenched and the worm dies not! Folks you are not promised tomorrow! If you want to know how to be saved from this horrible reality then please by all means don’t hesitate to comment right back so I can lead you to the savior! 2 Corinthians 6:2 clearly states “now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation!” And Hebrews 3:15 clearly states, “Today if you hear his voice don’t harden your hearts! It is not me but the Holy Spirit that I pray reveals to you the truth of his precious gospel......John 3:16 says for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes on him will not perish but have everlasting life! V 17 says then V 18 says whoever believes on the son is not condemned but whoever does not believe on the son is condemned already because he has not believed on the son whom God has sent! Also Acts 16:30-31 what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house I am not threatening anyone but just warning them what will happen if they reject this precious gift of eternal life! Christ died a horrible criminals death! He was beaten brutally mocked spit upon and endured countless hours of torture pain for all of our sins! Ppl go to hell because they reject that pardon for their sins! And Jesus is saying to them in Matthew 25:41 depart from me you cursed into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels! Hell was only prepared for Satan and his angels! It is not God who threatens anyone it is the craziness of rejecting the free pardon of salvation! It’s like if you’re in court you’ve committed a crime say you murdered someone! Now if you say to that Judge hey I know I’ve done a terrible thing of murdering that person but I hear you’re a good judge and so I know you’ll be fair to me...... the judge is going to reply well yes you’re right about one thing I am a good judge and because I’m a good judge I’m going to see to it that you’re punished and that justice is served! Well then all of a sudden someone you don’t even know comes forward and says you know what I know he’s committed the crime he’s committed and he deserves to go to jail but I really don’t want to see him go to prison so I’ll just go to prison for him so he can go free! So if you accepted that offer you’d be free to leave the courtroom but if you didn’t well you’d be crazy and go to prison yourself! Well that’s exactly how it was 2,000 years ago! He is God in human flesh and he came to this earth lived a perfect sinless life and even though he knew that we had sinned and because of our sins deserved to die miserably but he said no I don’t want to see them suffer so I will go and take their punishment for them! Even though he did absolutely nothing wrong still he chose to take the punishment for our sins so we can be set free from the power bondages and consequences of our disobedience to God! Romans 5:8 says For God commends his love toward us that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us! 1 John 2:2 says he was made to be the propitiation for our sins! And not just for our sins but the sins of the whole world! 2 Corinthians 5:21 He who knew no sin became Sin for us that we would be made his righteousness! The truth is if you had to get to Heaven by your own effort then you cannot do it! Because Romans 3:10 says there is not one that does good! No Not One! Romans 3:23 says For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God! Romans 6:23 says For the wages of sin is death! But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our lord! But the good news is Romans 10:9 If we confess with our mouth and believes in our hearts that Christ died for our sins then was raised from the dead we will be saved! V 10 For it’s with the heart we believe and it’s with the mouth confession is made unto salvation! God gave us 10 commandments to follow and we’ve broken every one of them! And because God is a good God he cannot allow our disobedience to him to go unpunished! Well then like I just mentioned above his son Jesus stepped forward and said no I don’t want to see them punished so I will take their punishment for them! And also like I said he died a terrible substitute criminal’s death for us on a cross so now all we have to do is accept that payment for our sins and we can escape the terrible wrath of God that is to fall on them who do not accept this atonement that was sacrificed for our sins! Praise the lord Romans 10:13 says Whoever calls on the name of the lord shall be saved! And 1 Peter 1:4 you’re an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you! Christ clearly said in John 14:6 I am the way the truth and the life and no one comes to the father but through me! Acts 4:12 clearly states that there is no other name given unto Heaven or earth by which we must be saved as there is salvation in no other! Jesus clearly states that there is clearly only one way to Salvation and it’s him that’s it! There is no other way! God Bless everyone who reads!
One of the songs I remember standing next to my sweet Grandma and singing. I miss my Grandparents so much. I wish I could go back in time and right into their arms.
These are the real worship songs of the old paths! Wonderful!!! As an independent fundamental baptist, these are the hymns that speak to my heart! These are the true songs of worship that belongs in a bible believing and bible preaching church! Amen God bless you brothers and sisters!
Just had somewhat of a nightmare/dream, voodoo rituals around me. All of a sudden i don know why, I started belting this song out....I dont even know the words but knew them in my dream. And of course it/ he destroyed all voodoo around me. Amazing.
Yesterday I'd listened a studie where the Him Hé lives was mentioned. IT was one of my faivoured Hims back in the end 70th's when we sang in the Youth bible club from the Southern Baptist Church way back in the mission field Suriname at the house of James and Thelma Forrester .Very fine and living people. Thank You Lord for your kindness and Mercy
Last verse is my favourite, rejoicing, rejoicing all Christian lift up your voice eternal hallelujah to jesuschrist the king the hope who are seeking, the help whofind none is loving so gooood and kind.
