You can use a scotch brite pad it's just as good as it needs to polish and clean.
For the people: Don't forget some throttle bodies will need position recalibration afterwards or else your idle will suffer.

All modern cars have throttle relearn procedures.

@@donniev8181 Most do not bother if you touch the throttle, it just resets it and uses the settings it already knows or it's completely dumb and reads analog voltage depending on the physical position of the TPS, but many cars i've seen from the 00's do need recalibration either because of rough idle or to assure you get maximum performance even if the throttle is off by a few % due to material and installation changes or even wear rather than programming.
On a standalone ECU i have i can do it from my cellphone, but i know people who were scratching their heads about what went wrong after they cleaned it and needed to go to the dealer to connect it to propertiary software so to do the job.
Those cars who have integrated relearn features are cool, at least if you know about it when you need it.

Water cleans carbon better than anything else. Water actually destroys carbon. Talk to some old school mechanics about using spritzes of water into the intake to clean carbon out of the intake and off of the valves.

So first off my hat is off to you for actually being a sane person and doing regular maintenance on your Suburban. You putting it on CZcams is a benefit most unfortunately take for granted. In this video I have a suggestion for the next time you need to clean carbon build up off of engine components and what not try using a magic eraser (Mr clean makes a magic eraser sheet 3" × 5" × ¹/¹⁶" it will be so much less abrasive. You can order a box of no name brand ones off of temu 50 CT for less than $10 and there are endless applications when it comes to using on automobiles. NEVER use on paint, but the 2 biggest things I use them for in my detailing business is polishing a windshield before rainx coatings for efficiency and for removing oxidation and grime from headheadlight before polishing down and applying acrylic coating

You are not supposed to manually move a electronic throttle body, I did this on my Acura and learned the hard way it took the thing like 2 weeks to relearn idle even after doing the idle relearn procedure it still idled funky for 2 weeks

I don't see the problem if it's disconnected and you are gentle with the plate, just sounds like someone parroting someone like Scotty Kilmer.
I've cleaned the electronic TBs on a couple of Z's and nothing was damaged moving the throttle by hand with battery power isolated.
As long as you're gentle I don't see how you will damage anything. At worst you just need to do an idle relearn.

Don't open a throttle by wire like that unless you are ready to buy another one. That's asking for problems

Is that off your 5.7L suburban? If so was it a pain to take off and was there a gasket to be replaced? I've been wanting to do that on my 96 Chevy Silverado 5.7L vortec but I'm afraid to take it off and mess something up?
