My mom said she first hear this song on General Hospital when LUKE and Laura were dancing to this song . She went to the record store to get the 45.She still has the record.
In all my life, listening to this song, at a young age, and out of that early era, for those two, and that series, I never knew it had that sort of unique connection, and for a pretty intense scene, with both of them, together. And my mother’s a huge fan of the show, as well, so thankfully, she didn’t get too exposed to what went on, during that scene, with this song.
This song was released 6 days after I had just turned 6 years old. I have listened to it ever since. Thank you Herb Alpert for helping me to love Jazz.
I was 15 when this song came out. Jazz still made it's way into popular music back then. Chuck Mangione, George Benson, and the Crusaders had hits during this time.
Who else is just in love with the sound of a Man that can play a mean trumpet!? I can't even begin to imagine the talent Herb Alpert had to be able to play it like he did❣️🎺 I might love the sound of a trumpet even more than a saxophone. Why does it sound so dreamy to me. ☁️🎶💖😻
Not to mention, could his trumpet be any shinier!??😹 That thing sparkles ✨️like it's been windexed by Angels🪽 I was so caught up in the sound, eyes closed last play. 📀 I missed. It's like when someone blinds ya with a sun catching MiRR🪞R angled just right, only it's his sound catching trumpet got the glare, GL💗W! ✨️Play ☁️💫n.. I think 🎶 "This girl's in L💖VE with you, Alpert " ..and a Whole Lotta of Us Ladies t👀. He's so dreamy, and so is his sound ❣️🎺✨️❤️🔥💖😻
Oh my God! Beautiful. I got married had three kids 11 months apart of each other. When they were napping I'd listen to Herb and dance whatever energy I had left.
In 1978/79 my young son and I were living in Cheyenne, Wy while I attended college at LCCC. He went to the daycare at the college so we would drive together to and from school. This song reminds me of coming home in the late afternoon, enjoying listening to my son talking about his day,, and listening to this song on the radio. Great memories. This song was so relaxing to listen to as I drove through the city.
To think my mom was crazy about Herb Alpert and The Tijuana Brass when me and my siblings were kids! She'd clean the house to his music 🎶 My mom had great taste!
Yes indeed! You were somebody if you made Soul Train as a dancer or music artist. Lol!😁😅 For real! Soul Train was the dance show on television back in the day.❤️ I wish Soul Train never ended at all.

He's pointing it out because back in the day most people thought Herb was from a Hispanic background/family. Most thought his last name might have been Alperto and cropped his name.
No disrespect to the man, but his band was mostly Spanish, and he teamed up with Brasil 66 a Brazilian band where he met his second wife Lani Hall. History in the making.
When Music Was Music.
1970s
I don't even consider the garbage these kids listen to nowadays music.....this is music
WE HAD IT VERY VERY GOOD IN THE 70s
There's still good music out there. You just have to look for it.
And lyrics were lyrics
If a human could "sing" through a trumpet, it would be Herb Alpert. Very cool cat, in any generation!

Still Great music! Love it!
I discovered the other day that Herb Alpert is ethnically a Ukrainian/Romanian Jew. Not an ounce of Hispanic in him. Ha! He's 89 now. Great musician.
Who cares.
@@kenito1967Actually no one in the Tijuana Brass was Hispanic. I didn’t realize that until very recently
Herb himself said there were two Jewish musicians and the rest Italians.
I was 5 yrs old when this came out, my favorite as a little girl.
