My family moved to the mountains of Western PA because of Fr. Gallitzin, the first generation who had performed their weddings and baptisms. From this marriage over 60 of their descendants have been called to religious life
Christine, please consider expanding this story to a biography of Prince Gallitzin. This is a worthy chapter of Catholic history in itself. This wonderful priest was connected with a Sacred Heart Basilica, which is less than a mile from my house. Most of our immigrant ancestors are buried in the cemetery behind the church. The Basilica of the Sacred Heart is a wonder in Catholic history. ❤️
What an amazing story. The Catholic Faith has survived a great deal of persecution at numerous levels and, l suspect, the battle will continue.

Archbishop John Carrols sister married a Brent(the family that owned the quarry that all of those D.C. buildings are made of) and their daughter(Polly) married a Lee. That Lee son converted to Catholicism. The Catholic history here is a great story to investigate.

This story shows the importance of dying with a priest present to usher the soul to his Judgement with the Sacraments.
Doing God's will as a norm for living is providing for one's death.

This is cool story for one it shows that the Catholic faith is the one true faith
if these events occurred in the 1700's how could lights flicker. Modern electricity was not at use during that time.
Candles could flicker too

We actually had other means of making Artificial light before electricity: lamps, candles, fireplaces, torches, in some places even gas lights.
Candles flicker all the time. The slightest movement can trigger them. Of course harsher stimuli can put them out.

The day after John Wayne Gacy was executed, there was a partial eclipse of the sun. The crescent shape of the eclipse filtered through the leaves in the trees, creating millions and millions of crescent shaped lights on the ground that flickered as the wind blew.
Fr. Galitzin's tomb is about 5 miles from here, as his original chapel. Neat places to visit, Loretto, PA, near St. Francis University. Fr. Gallitzin is a big deal around here!!! His cause for Sainthood is under investigation.
