    After being diagnosed with Stage 1 ER-positive, PR-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer with a fantastic prognosis, Bree faced a recurrence in 2020 - this time stage 4 metastatic breast cancer.
    After being advised to put her "affairs in order," Bree became her own advocate and leveraged metabolic therapies alongside conventional treatment and was NED 18 months after her stage 4 diagnosis.
    The metabolic treatments she used to compliment standard of care include:
    - a transition from meat-based keto to a vegan, plant-heavy diet
    - Nutraceutical
    - Meditation and stress reduction
    - EDMR
    - Rebounding, breathwork, and sauna protocols
    She credits these complimentary therapies with not only prolonging her life, but dramatically reducing side effects from conventional treatments.
    All of these interviews for CANCER/EVOLUTION have been wildly inspiring but Bree's story touched me deeply. The resistance she overcame from her conventional oncologist is all to familiar to me but her self-advocacy gives me chills. "No one knows your body better than you do," she reminded me. And, my favorite advice, "Don't give yourself a plan B."
    ======
    This interview was recorded for the upcoming CANCER/EVOLUTION docuseries but, even though it hasn't been professionally edited, the story is too inspiring not to share now.

    Thank you for your insight. I am stage 4 prostate cancer with metastasis to the bone. I am integrating metabolic therapy with conventional medical therapy because medical therapy alone offers no hope.

    I totally agree (14:00) with Bree's assessment. I also came to the same conclusion after doing extensive research into cancer as a metabolic disease.
    Important for me was to take control over my own health, which medical treatments/scans I want to have done. Also eliminated stress which gave me so much more clarity and funny enough a sense of happiness for the first time in my life.
    I am doing the COC protocol (like Maggie), in the beginning strict vegan but now after a couple of scans (tumor 5x1x4 cm is schrinking and is now 2.1x0.6x4.cm) I am a bit more relaxed what I eat. I am also doing Low dose Naltrexone, vitamins C, D3, K2, omega-3, curcumin, quercetin, aspirin, melatonin and some "herbal" oils. Also making sure I have blood work done every 8 weeks and scans every 3 months, but I am considering doing the CT scans less frequent as the radiation from the CT scan is 14 mSV which is around 3-4 years of background radiation.
    So huge thanks to Maggie and Bree for sharing their stories but also the conviction and strength it gives me to follow the metabolic path in treating my cancer.

    That is so beautifull! I'm just 3 months in my "palliative" journey, but what you say, both Bree and Maggie, it's my thoughts and feelings echoing back to me. We are not alone, that is such an important message ☺.

    Bree, dear dear Bree, thank you, thank you. I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. I had an immediate mastectomy- left breast. It is late at night here in New Zealand. Tomorrow I will listen again and write more. You give me hope. I have read a huge amount, including metabolic therapy (Seyfried), and I’m fighting every day. More soon.❤️🌹

    Thank you for replying. You look so good and I’m glad you responded well to the treatment. Did you have to have a surgery for your breast cancer?
    May I ask you if you have been on ketogenic diet, which supplements you took, and have you tried fasting before, during, and after the chemo to reduce the side effects from the chemo? And lastly what kind of metabolic treatments did you receive at the Block center? Sorry to dump you with so many questions. Thank you.

      Hey Jen - this is Lynne' Doran I also have a video on the Cancervme channel. Just wanted to share I did surgery/chemo/radiation. With that I worked with Care Oncology to use off label drugs to target cancer stem cells and I also take a lot of supplements. I would do a 72 hour fast around chemo times and intermittent fasting on the other days and I ate keto. There is soooooo much you can do!

      @@lynnedoran5825 hello! Thank you for your post. I do plan on doing 72 hr fast - the day before, during, after chemo which makes up 72 hrs and that’s the instructions I saw from Dr. Berg’s video by one of cancer survivors. May I ask which supplements you’re taking and is it safe to take SCOT inhibitors while on water fast? Currently my problem is I can’t keep any food down right now so I’m concerned about keeping up with caloric intake. I’m losing weight fast. I need to a high quality keto cook book for cancer patients but I can’t seem to find any. I’m sorry to bombard you with a lot of questions. Thank you.

      @breestilwell7371 Před rokem +1

      @@jenkim4299 Hi again, Jen, will definitely defer to Lynne's experience here, as I haven't yet had to undergo IV chemo. I know there's numerous resources out there about fasting + chemo, however, so though I don't know about your specific cancer, you're definitely on the right track! Also, regarding following a ketogenic diet, research suggests it's not as advantageous for my particular cancer, but that a low-glycemic, plant-nutrient dense, vegan diet is. The majority of my treatment through Block Center has been focused on this approach, including an extensive nutraceutical (supplement) list and exercise program. Your questions are all spot on, Jen, just stay curious and know you have time to figure this out with the right teams by your side!

    I was just diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic adenocarcinoma. I’m trying to get into Block center but I’m being discouraged to do so. My question is did you receive conventional chemo at your regular hospital and nutritional iv therapies at the Block center? Every minute is crucial for me. Thank you.

    • @bradjones9615
      @bradjones9615 Před rokem +3

      Jen, I'm so sorry to hear you are being discouraged. Most cancer patients that we know have used metabolic treatments right alongside standard of care. It sounds like Bree did that as well from her interview. For most people there are no interactions or contraindications. My wife, Maggie, simply told her standard of care oncologists that she was doing what felt right to her. I honestly don't even remember her asking them. They weren't always happy about it, and some still aren't. But we are all glad she made the choices she did. Do advocate for yourself.

    • @breestilwell7371
      @breestilwell7371 Před rokem +3

      Jen, I too am so sad to hear you're being discouraged from bringing additional resources into your health care plan. Brad's right, I received standard care (oral chemo, radiation treatment) through my traditional oncology team and complementary care (metabolic) through my integrative team at The Block Center. And like Maggie, the only question I asked my conventional oncologist was whether they would be willing to work alongside my integrative docs; if the answer had been no, I would have moved on. I would be happy to chat further, just connect with me through my website in the bio above. You can do this! Your body, your cancer, your decisions... your healing!

      @@jenkim4299 Metabolic treatments are things that target the energy creation process of cancer cells. All cells need energy to grow and play their particular role in the body. Cancer cells are no different. Metabolic Therapies (fasting, ketogenic diets, off-label glucose-reducing drugs and supplements like Metformin and others, even stress reduction) try and decrease the "fuel" cancer cells have access too. It is typically called "starving cancer" though this is a half-truth. It's just an easy way to think of it. Access to fasting is so easy. It works well and research is starting to show it is has similar effects to immunotherapy. Here is Valter Longo briefly talking about fasting: czcams.com/video/Gd3d_Pc-Vcs/video.html
