I have to say that this is a really cool room and he did a great job of making it look and work really well for a home theater setup and I wouldn’t remove the posters from the room because they are a part of his journey to make the space feel more like a theater. Great job Chris and thank you for sharing.

Really cool use of a small space. For the acoustic treatment, you can have the best of both worlds and build your own panels and print movie posters on fabric to cover them! Treating the sidewalls would probably be a significant improvement in this size of room.

Couple things I think to make it a bit more theater like. First remove the fridge, glass hanger, shelf.... everything from the front wall. I would lower the proj screen to fit evenly on the wall and it would have to sit a bit under the lowered side of the ceiling. Build a false back wall to get the speakers behind the screen and upgrade to better floor speakers .. all 3.. to get better sound and dynamics. Move the fridge and glasses to the back wall. then evenly spread the subs against the wall . That alone I feel would make a major difference

    Very clean, nicely done.
Def make your own acoustic panels instead of posters, you can use the same images even.
Also, raise the rear channels above the headrests of your seats so you can hear them!
Maybe move 1 of the 3 subs to the back of the room?
Finally, ditch the projector, you don't have a big enough room, instead sell it and the TV and get a 77 or 83" OLED (and an HDMI earc splitter, keep the old projector, but still get surround from your xbox!)

Great room. The TV behind the screen on the hinge blew me away. I would definitely replace the posters with acoustic panels it would beyond improve his sound especially the muddy mid range. @@nobaccos If there were smaller sound treatment panels that could be placed between the posters or on other areas of the walls, that would be fine (since panels are so plain and ugly compared to posters as well as other personal decorative touches) and in any case, I don't have any sound treatments on my home theatre walls; just posters, furniture, carpeting on the floor, a big comfy fabric couch, etc. and I have a blast watching movies or listening to music and not once have I thought to myself, "If only I had added panels to make the sound better." Yeahh Chris you did a great job. #1, i have mad respect for someone who takes a small space and makes it work into a home theater system. #2, i can relate - i also did a tv behind my projection screen for gaming. Its a great decision. My only suggestion, consider going atmos for your movies. I definately think it is worth it. I hope the receiver you get has preouts so you can do a 5.2.4. Also consider bass shakers bro.

Combination of panels and posters, have them alternating. That tiny room would significantly benefit from sealed subs, he would get a ton of room gain and likely get flat extension down to 10hz with a minimal investment IMO. At some point he should make the switch to sealed for that reason.

    • @nobaccos

Firstly the flip up fixed screen is ingenious and creative considering the space he is working with. Secondly with size of the room posters are just the way to go gives the room personality and besides how much sound is he really losing all things considered.

i just seen this video, you can add a surround back dipole rear speaker. get that sound right and what you may find is that ' that' tv may well be quite perfect if not as cosy, and if it is for you then you can add some top surround in ceiling speakers. however you have to remember that denon receivers are more on the bass end. for me have a listen to maybe a yamahar receiver for clearer high's, add some aqustic panels, kill them reflections. surround back speakers are night and day to a cinema rooms and you actualy have space for one. that room has great potential.
