    Decades ago, when I first started shooting weddings for a photographic studio, I used a medium format camera with a normal lens to shoot the entire wedding.
    Years later, my full-frame wedding kit consisted of two bodies and:
    14mm f/2.8
    24mm f/2
    35mm f/1.4
    85mm f/1.4
    180mm f/2.8
    My backup wedding kit consisted of one body and:
    14-24mm f/2.8
    28-70mm f/2.8
    80-200mm f/2.8
    For some weddings, the backup zoom kit and the prime kit would switch positions.

    Lumix for the win! What cameras are y’all using?
    In my kit I’ve got an s1h & 2 s1
    I’m ordering then 24-105 and sigma 14-24 later this month
    On the sigma, lack of screw on ND doesn’t bug you?

      Hey Chris! We use the Lumix S1 and S5. They are perfect for weddings! Reliable, great video capabilities, and good price.
      The Sigma 14-24 is always in the kit, we pretty much just keep it on the gimbal for the entire day. We don’t use an ND for this lens, but it doesn’t tend to be a major issue. We’ll raise the F Stop or shutter speed if needed on bright days. An option for ND with a fisheye lens would be to build a cage and attach a matte box, however that might impact gimbal performance.

    How do you balance these zoom lenses on gimbal?

    Tamron 17-28mm 2.8 for sony?

    Yes I think that's ideal. I work for another videomaker and he's the kind of guy who spends the entire day with a gimbal and as such he wants the other people who shoot with him to do the same. I'll probably implement a second camera body to switch focal range on the go without having to rebalance the damn thing over and over again

      A 24-70 or 24-105 is a great option for versatile handheld shooting, and compliments the gimbal nicely! It’s also very helpful if the camera body and lens has IBIS/stabilization.

      Yeah im with you on that. im more handheld and monopod, the gimble is my 3rd option only because of the smooth look. but then i hate when it dies cuz im always forgetting to charge it smh. so i prefer handheld all the time lol

    I just bought a Canon 14 to 35mm f4 L lens to use on my R6 M2. Do you think this will be the best choice? It always feels like 50mm is too close and there's apparently no 35mm prime L RF lens available. I'm planning on using it on an RS3 gimbal.

    • @weddingcrashersuniversity
      @weddingcrashersuniversity  Před rokem +1

      Yes! That should be a great lens for getting wide + medium gimbal shots. It’s very similar to the 14-24 that we recommend!
      You can switch between the Full Frame to APS-C sensor crops of the R6 M2 to get an even wider focal range.

    I've got some weddings coming up to video and need an opinion on how I should set up when using these 3 cameras:
    Canon R6, Canon R6M2, & Canon Mark IV (might not use the Mark IV). I have lens for every focal length for all 3 lenses.

    • @weddingcrashersuniversity
      @weddingcrashersuniversity  Před 10 měsíci +1

      That’s a great kit of cameras and should be solid for your weddings! I would recommend using the R6 on gimbal most of the day with a wide angle lens. Use your R6M2 Handheld (since I believe it has a better stabilizer) with a 24-105 to get medium & closeups. I recommend filming almost everything in 4K 60fps, except ceremony & speeches in 4K 24fps.
      For ceremony, use 2 side camera with 70-200 lenses and 1 camera in the middle with 24-105 or similar to capture a wide shot.
      We plan to release more content on this soon, but I hope this helps give you some ideas! Let me know if you have any other specific questions.

      Thank you for the quick response. Have you ever made a video about the Atomos Ninja V and your opinion on it? I've got 2 of them and the list could go on and on about the issues I've had with using them. I invested in the name brand ssd and atomos hdmi thinking it may fix the terrible recording quality but I don't even think that was the issue because it's giving subjects a bluish outline on their faces. I don't know a soul personally that has ever used an Atomos so I was wondering if you have and if you've ever ran into this issue?
