Why do we use simp for any kind of support now? It’s like how when people use "nerd" in a positive way, it just feels wrong

It's the same phenomenon that led to the dutch names Jan and Kees to be combined into yankees to denote New Yorkers and later came to mean delinquents in Japanese. One interpretation follows the other and changes the meaning over time. After all, everyone has a slightly different interpretation of what a word means and the consensus can shift as new uses are introduced and spread.
With internet slang, words have a tendency to evolve even faster. Simping was first used very specifically, then it was used in a similarly negative sense, but very broadly to the point where it lost most of it's meaning and now certain communities have claimed it for themselves and given it a positive spin. Other communities will still use it in it's original meaning as suckers idolizing mediocre people.
@@AricHaldan0782 But this is still the same language, not a misunderstanding based off of insufficient or very vague knowledge like yankees in Japanese. In fact, in the age of the internet that knowledge is more accessible than ever.

It’s just owning up to an insult, that’s not really changing the meaning of it, it’s just not letting it get to you.
This is why Korone is "best girl" to a lot of Hololive fans. She's so accommodating and cute.

Over the years I've developed a feeling of awkwardness whenever I get asked about my father, coz when I tell people he's dead and has been dead since before I turned a year old they always apologize and act like they unintentionally hurt my feelings when in truth I don't really care coz I've never met the guy.
And I felt that awkwardness again when Korone asked about chat's dads. The sensation of feeling awkward for _other people_ is something I'll never get used to lol.
Odds are high it's Abyss. Abyss has frequently been voted the best Tales games by Japanese fans over the last few years including as recently as a few months ago
pretty based, that's my favorite of the 3D titles as well. surprised that none of the 2D games weren't number one though, especially between Eternia, Destiny 1/2 (PS2), or Rebirth; the combat in those titles far exceed the combat in any of the 3D games - sans Arise; haven't played it yet.

Well thanks for asking! My dad definitely prefers beer over wine, mostly Coors Light at home, but he will have a glass of wine at parties or if it comes with dinner at a restaurant; usually goes for like White Zinfandel. Can't recall the last time he did any stronger liqueurs, he seems more content to crack a beer or two instead.
