Coz they are more wealthier, developed and are more into education than many other part of Asia. (Some are more focuss on religion sadly)

The annual report released Tuesday, based on data from British firm Clarivate, centered on 2020 figures, taking the three-year average through 2021. China produced 24.6% of all papers published worldwide -- a margin of 8.5 percentage points above the U.S. -- and nearly 30% of the top 10% and 1% most-cited publications.

that's not how it works. qs calculates the ranks based on academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, citations per faculty, and international faculty ratio/international student ratio. these 6 metrics very well measures the quality of each university. arguably though, there are some improvements they can make
