You got this homie 💪 .. the library will live again 🤘. #workinghard
Great to see the new library coming along happy to see the progress.
Hey Dave. I was same situation when im moving few years ago. I spend a lot of time for trying fit old shelves at the place. And then i change strategy. Throw away old stuff, rearranging everything, build new cabinets and storage shelves. And trust me this is the best way to organized that chaos. Build from zero i step by step and planing where put movies and how. Cheers, and sorry for my english, im from poland :)

Reorganizing any space is a lot of hard work, focus, dedication, and energy, but I know you'll get there, Dave, and I'm sure we all can't wait for a tour of your completed media library down the road. :)
Could use that ceiling plug for a projector and have a pull down projector screen.🤔
Good idea!!! I’ve always wanted one of those 🤔
Since you're planning to turn the entire garage door wall into shelves for your media, how about having the pull-down projector screen come down in front of those shelves when you want to watch something and retract it when not in use? Also, when mounting the projector near that ceiling plug, consider making a tiny hole in the ceiling to feed some long HDMI and AV cables to another spot in the room where you can hook up all your video players. 😊
Been watching for many years and I’d like to thank you for taking the time making these videos!👍
Keep up the hard work on cleaning you will be happy when its all done
That’s great that you are starting to set up your library! Great idea to keep the garage well insulated to help preserve the discs. #Workinghard
Good Luck Putting the Shelves Together and a Lot of Work on a New Library.
#WorkinHard
I'm Excited for the Next Video Very Soon
Hey dave I love collecting dvd and vhs tapes.
When you had the racks cleared ( hanging from ceiling) it would be an idea to get them down as to avoid moving the new movies/ shelves again to prevent damaging the cases #working hard
#WorkingHard One of the many reasons I HATE moving. It takes forever and a day to make the new place feel like home. Keep up the good work!!!
OMG you have a lot of work to do.I enjoy your videos!
#WorkingHard Love the progress you're making Dave. Keep it going! Love the construction of the new Library
Would def like to see some cool utilization of led lighting and movie posters and standees/and looking forward to all the detolfs light up and movie merch
You might need to build those center shelves up to the ceiling as well to give you more space
Definitely coming on keep at it . All I say maybe go with led lights has florescent and such bulbs can slowly fade the covers i found . #workinghard
Can you build a outside room in your garden to build a library, here in the UK we have a thing where rooms can be built in your garden and be turned into a living space like a office or gym.
Heating and Cooling... have you thought about that? Check to see if your house ac unit is large enough to push air into the garage with new ducts. You can also look into ductless HVAC unit. I have my library in a hot and cold Texas attic and thankfully I have a window unit and a space heater. Believe me, you need to get that situation sorted out b/c the summer temps are getting earlier each year. Can’t wait to see your progress!
Ive already shown off the AC unit in had installed in the garage in previous videos. 👍😊
@@RetroRestStopAwesome! It must have slipped by me. Thanks!
#WorkingHard I need to watch Blue Beetle as well, I couldn't get myself to buy a physical copy, but I do have it in my digital library. I seriously need to re-organize my titles once I get my new spinners, and you would think I know that SE comes after SA (for example), but I always mess up somewhere, lol.
As you mention, I am getting a little claustrophobic as you explain out your vision. But I also have a huge faith in your vision and know it will come to pass. Wish you nothing but continued success on the library.
I’ve seen a cool idea for media/ book shelves to get more space (sometimes see them in library’s too). Can you put a few slightly narrower shelves in front of the other shelves and have them on casters and some kind of track at the top so the front shelves can glide from side to side? That way you don’t lose too much floor space but gain more shelf space, and it would be a cool feature too. I don’t know how difficult that would be to build though 😅
Its coming along good. Just a little bit at a time, it will get done quicker than you think.
Another great video! :) #workinghard
Good Progress, Moving is difficult!
Question: would placing shelves back to back kind of solve the issue with the code for the water heater and fusebox?
It could give you more space to have the movies. I know you lose some space in the middle. Just an idea.
Love seeing the progress
Too many movies 😂❤🎉
no. such. thing.
I joked with you about the movie collection but that’s your business not anyone else’s! You know what’s best just please don’t stress out too much! Too much stress is not a good thing! I hope you and Danielle have a beautiful wedding! So your boys become step-brothers?
Just read that nearly all the HD DVD’s are having disc rot problems so…… glad blu won that war😅
#Workinghard
The ceiling rack put extra DVD bluray others up there out of way and save space
I rather not have random racks hanging above me in the library. That would be like having them installed in the kitchen or living room.
How warm is it in the garage? Movies won’t melt out there right? That would make me mad if that happened to me.
That's why Dave said he will be adding a lot of insulation in front of the garage door in the media room in order to reduce Florida's notorious heat and humidity which could indeed ruin his movie collection if that wasn't addressed.
That's the trouble with Florida and much of the South not having basements in homes for cooler temperatures and underground insulation.
As stated before. I had AC installed in the garage.
Nice forgot that. Love seeing the building of the library tho. Bet it will look amazing when done
Is that whole section DC movies? If so I didn't realize there were that many I have maybe like 1 of those shelves worth of the DC set and mainly live action
Yup. All DC. And I’m actually missing a few.
"Sweating to the Oldies", Dave Style or Cardio with Dave videos coming soon....
Put the CRT where you want it to go.... THEN configure around it.... it will work much better that way,
I think you've got a good point there. :)
@@TorontoJon I learned that the hard way when I moved to Germany...we do not have closets... so you place the big things first, where you want them...then work in the smaller things.
Wouldn’t it make sense to weather proof the garage door before setting everything up so you don’t have to move everything?
Im not putting the shelves against that wall until i weatherproof the door.
@@RetroRestStop makes sense
@@RetroRestStop its coming together well, I can’t wait for the end result to see how it all fits as it does seem a lot smaller then the last house. Love the content as always, keep up the great videos
do you have room for a storage shed in your yard? That might help relieve some of the mess.
Nope. No sheds allowed (yet)
@@RetroRestStop oh okay. Keep up the awesome work with your new place. I'd be so overwhelmed by now.
I’m impressed that you can visualize what want the library to look like. I’m terrible at spacial design
At the risk of sounding like a chauvinist, it's a scientific fact that men tend to have better three-dimensional spatial relations abilities than women which is part of human evolution, men needing those skills to hunt, etc.
When I took a Myers-Briggs test many years ago, my three-dimensional spatial relations aptitude was off the charts; better than 85% of the human population on Earth. :)
#WorkingHard
Make a throw away email. Ask for some help. Give the dimensions and the dos n don’ts and let some people help you design a room for space. Use one or two designs. Give a shout out or a post card to the ideas you use. Helps you interact with everyone more. 👍🏽
Dave, I saw those George Reeves Superman sets on the shelves, and those probably are rotted out now. We all know, that you are busy rebuilding and moving everything. Still, anything any of us own from 2004-07 Warners has a very high chance of being rotted out. So, be wary of that going forward. Outside of that... You're just one man, and moving a lot of things is never fucking easy. Be patient, and the U or C shape is the way to go. #WorkingHard
Only my season 5/6 set was rotted on those Superman sets but I've found a number of Warner titles that no longer play. Interestingly a lot of them are older "classic" films like Anchors Aweigh and my Esther Williams set, etc. Supposedly they will replace them but I've not done it yet. They sent me an email starting the replacement program but they want pictures and I haven't bothered yet.
Good on them stating they'll replace them, because a bunch of my classics are just rotted out. Which is so depressing.
That code is kinda dumb. My water heater is literally in a closet!
Yup. Pretty annoying. Maybe if the wall are fireproof or something. I dunno…
Same here. In a small and tight closet. Makes it a bit of a pain when you need to do anything with it but it takes up little space.
@@RetroRestStop Try consulting with a local contractor about it. Maybe they have some creative work-arounds for your problem.
It's too bad that homes in Florida and the rest of the South are not known for having basements because they really come in handy for extra storage, media rooms, man caves, large power tool workshops, etc. Still, one has to work with what one has and that media library will look awesome when it is completed.
#workinghard
#baseballdad Your level of energy is inspiring. Good luck with the project. My mom always says.. one bite of the elephant at a time. you'll get there!
Making a garage door non-functioning won't add any value to the house, and it's seriously blocking an escape route if ever needed.
Ohhh well movies absolutely come before home value/safety 👍
#workinhard
Why don't you put those players in those overhead racks
I don’t want racks hanging on the ceiling and they get in the way of the shelves
#workighard
What about moving the water heater outside just having a small shed build against the wall for it
That costs a lot of money and may not be to code anyway and depending on the neighborhood's rules for external home aesthetics, it may not be allowed at all. Dave said that he isn't allowed to add a storage shed on his home property due to the rules, so that may apply to any drastic home changes.
If you sell a lot of your movies then you could have room for your TV's just think about because you do way to many movies
No thanks
That's not how a physical movie collection works, Adam, and that defeats the whole purpose of having a fondly collected media library that took years and tons of travel, footwork, energy, etc. for Dave to cultivate.
@@RetroRestStop it was a joke 🤣
#WorkingHard
#BaseballDad
Since you have always said that you know nothing about sports. Are you going to be like Brendan Fraser in Blast From The Past where he's at the baseball game for the first time. And says Oh I GetI it Now😂😊
Is it me or is this going to be smaller that the original library?
It is. But its way taller. I can build up.
Oh yeah. It might be cost prohibitive, but you're library having a rolling ladder would give it that extra bit of flare.
As stressful as it might seem, admit it, it's going to be fun. I'm learning from your experience for my future man-cave. Keep on updating us.
Have you considered using items like smart switches and/or smart light bulbs? With smart bulbs you don't need to rewire anything. With a smart switch as you enter the library you wouldn't need to move the switch. Just replace it. Add an amazon echo echo device to the room and you can just tell it what lights or group of lights to turn on. I have smart devices in my house and it's great. no fumbling for light switches when your hands are full. Just "Alexa turn on the library lights" as one example. You can also change the colors of your lights from your phone or by telling Alexa.
Good work!
I am in a similar boat, as i moved house, Halloween 2023, and it's now April 2024, and most of my movies, figures, statues are in boxes, and it has started to get depressing not seeing my stuff. The hold up is the dreaded decorating phase!
It's always good to watch someone who is into physical media. Are you aware of Rob and the German, who chat about physical media most Sundays. Here is a link to a recent stream: czcams.com/video/zfAUS7D935c/video.html
HOA's are total Crap
