Same. The stupid thing is I'm an idiot so even though biting hurts only a little, I always flinch so hard I scare Dawn, so she wants to bite more. So basically we're both in training, while Iris the superbudgie is chill no matter what.
Hey, I’ve always wanted a bird and my mom and I always watch your videos, I realized I don’t have to settle with a thousand dollar bird to love bird these little guys are awesome
I just got my budgie 3 days ago and I can’t wait for him to stop freaking out and immediately flying away from us. I can’t wait to have him be the buddy for my girls!
I got budgie couple 2 years ago and they never ever got used to us but them babies did.. it's better to get young budgie they are getting used to you faster
Sorry comment not related to the video but Omdays my budgie is learning soo much from Kiwi his even mimicking some words in your voice it cracks me up everytime. W😂😂😂 His learnt the "Ring, Ring" and it's soo cute. Hope he learns kiwis most adorable phrase "This is birdphone"
I really want a budgie. But i'm almost never home because of work. I hope i will have time for one in the near future, these videos keeps me satisfied during the wait
How long did it take for your second parakeet to Acclimate to your table? How did you get him to stay on? Mine for sure likes me. She sits comfortably on my finger perch. She also flys to my shirt, climbs up it and sits on my shoulder. Everytime, I bring her to my black table she freaks and flys away. Just like it took time for her to adapt to my hand while she was in her cage, I image it’s going to take a week or 2 before she feels comfortable or motivated
The treat doesn't need to be given immediately. He should be taught clicker recognition first. After he knows that the click gets a reward you are supposed to add time between the click and the treat then multiple clicks before a treat so he will do the behaviors without a food reward. Reward new behaviors generously obviously, but you should be able to phase out the treat or you will end up with one fat bird.
Interesting! I bought a clicker that has an incorporated extendible stick, but my birds were so afraid of it... so honestly I tried a few times, but I gave up... :(
Te first thing you need to do is train yourself ... it's a tiny bird and its bites don't hurt. Mine used to bite me on the nose. At first I thought it hurt, then I realised it didn't. Easier to train after that
I have two budgies that were my father in laws. one of them he found outside and the bird would go into my hand to eat. But as soon as he bought it a companion from petco the both of them want nothing to do with people. The one bought from petco is extremely afraid of hands. I’ve had them for over a year and still no progress
@@_bewitchedbyyaz mine as well. I have 2 from Petco and though they are both used to me they will not go on my finger or let me touch them. Ive been trying for over 6 mos now. They let me get close to them and my female will fly at me all the time but will not let me touch her. So frustrating.
Kiwi and Pixel are so happy on the table, sink, etc. My budgies don't seem to come down from their higher perches and swings unless they're on my hand or flying around. There's nothing to be scared of, no cats, other people or anything. How did you get them so comfortable at all levels in your room?
@@KiwiandPixel Ah yes, mine were store-bought at about 4 months old. They are pretty tame now - They'll fly to sit on my hand and head (if I'm standing, not sitting), and groom my hair and eyebrows, but mainly I think I somehow picked a couple of adrenaline junkies! Their favourite game to play with me, is to be waved around wildly on the end of a willow switch! Now I know for sure that birds sitting in the tops of trees during gales are doing it for the sheer fun of it! I wish they would come down to 'my' level just to hang out sometimes though.
Can you guide me on something? My bird is tamed. In the sense it is used to my hand and also perches pn it but will not stay a moment when I get it out of the cage. He immediately wants to fly to high curtains and get out of my reach
I have a question if any can answer, I'm teaching my 4 month budgie to talk, every time I say something he moves his mouth like he trying to talk but he didn’t do it before is that a good sign ? Thank you

I've had my budgie for 3 months now and I STILL can't get him to come out of his cage (any more than a foot). I've tried everything. He freaks out if he doesn't have his cage right there where he can see it. How in the world do I get him out without scaring him half to death and losing any trust we've built? He still won't play with me either but he is finally playing inside of the cage (over the past month), so at least there's been some progress. This has been a LOT harder than I imagined! I had budgies as a kid and it was never this hard. Although, my Mom probably did a lot with them while I was at school. Any tips would be appreciated! He's a really moody little guy.
For 3 yrs my parakeet only says a few words, and doesn't like to be touched ( he play bites ) if you will, we have the same color as pixel, he also has shown signs of throwing up " seeds " and we have grit, it's sad, we feel as though he might die, we've lost a previous parakeet due to health issues, he doesn't listen to his name of " Skye " it's " mister " now, lol.... any thoughts??
I had a budgie named kiwi. I had only foxtail millet and finger millet😭 They can't be kept between fingers to keep them as a treat. How can I give kiwi training
I find it so amazing that a tiny bird with a brain the size of a pea can be smarter than a lot of people I know :)
Lol
Their brain is bigger than their body it is not a pea.
@@nguyenhongan I do not think so. :)

First two minutes: introducing target training
Kiwi: My first target is the birdphone right here

Smart birbs - this is very fun to watch!🥢🦜🐦
Good job Kiwi and Pixel!
Kiwi the taking fruit
Wow your bird is so disciplined
I like when the budgie flew away
I have so much respect for you how calm you stay while pixel bites you :)
If you reinforce that biting gets a reaction, they just do it more! Been trying to channel my inner Steve Irwin.
@@KiwiandPixel haha! And I just loved the training vid, great info and good explanation

How do I get my Bluebird to stay on the table or flat surface without flying away? Your birds are awesome and I enjoy watching them.
Have you got your bird to do this yet?
Super Pixel, amazing training💙
This gives me confidence in training my parakeet. The 2nd one is where am at right now

Having a pair is even harder to train than a single parakeet. Still, they look pretty tame ...
We had Kiwi for 3 years before we got Pixel. Both were hand-raised from a specialized breeder in San Francisco.

They were hand raised by humans, so they’re naturally more tame than standard pet store parakeets.

can you show how to train them with out stuff like just train them with your hands because i dont have those stuff
You can use your mouth to make a click noise instead of a clicker.
