- A short film consisting of some clips from a recent trip where me and my good friend Brian ventured out to drive a large military vehicle back while towing a second one behind it. These rare military rigs were sold for a very short time and are no longer available to the public. I would guess there is less than 80 of them in private ownership. The film has demonstrations of the various equipment used such as the crane and tow boom. This film is for entertainment purposes and anything portrayed in the film may be fictional or altered from its original version.
For more information on these rigs:

I didnt spend a lot of time on this film as I am very busy with other things, I just wanted to share the trip with those that find these trucks interesting. Hope you enjoy it!
Check out my website and subscribe as I have plenty of upcoming films in the works for both military rigs and diesel powered cars.

Guys I have recovered a half dozen military trucks in my time the last being an M977 HEMTT all My trucks except one Unimog I drove home under its own power, OK make that tow I had an M920 shipped to ND from Cali also. You guys certainly earned your stripes on this recovery, sometimes they go like a breeze and sometimes there is a little work involved, every time its a awesome great accomplishment when you see the lights of home!
Great job guys you do all us Military truck guys proud!!
I was a 63s heavy wheel vehicle mechanic with a h8 cert in the army, i operated a hemmt wrecker, 5 ton wrecker and an lmtv wrecker, these are incredible machines, good times
What an absolute adventure! Respect for just doing it, and pushing to and over the limit!
Never seen one of those without the back it looks dumb 😂🤣
Shit it'd be my daily
it's like roadkill just a whole lot bigger
Benjamin Thomas yes
True American badass. I also now want an MK48 power unit and just make into something really cool.
That's a MK48 LVS (Dragon Wagon). The HEMMIT was the solid chassis cousin to that.
Here is a little trick for you if you ever find you don't weigh enough to break a lug nut loose by bouncing on the wrench. Instead of having the wrench horizontal to the left of the nut so that weight on the wrench applies the torque, put the wrench horizontal to the right so that you have to lift up on the wrench . . . with your jack. I have loosened nuts that way that an air impact wouldn't budge.
You have an air system on those truck use an air wrench.
The mk 15 has a hydraulic impact on it
Mk48/15 has a hydraulic 3/4 &1/2 impact
The MK-48 is actually a LVS,the M977-M985 is the HEMTT.The HEMTT is only used in the Army, and then the MK-48 or "Dragon Wagon" is what the Marine Corps had,the other trucks that are in use is the LVSR.The LVS has only steering articulation because of hydraulics and a pivot just like the Oshkosh DA-1500,but the HEMTT has a solid frame.
if i were to guess your not supposed to tow that with the whole front of the vehicle in the air but very short distances which is why it went through all those tires
dposer10 the tires could have been dry rotted from sitting
Ok. A few things. The Title is incorrect. A Hemmit is the army version which doesn't articulate. When towing long distance your supposed to do what you did. Remove the drive shafts and straight line tow. You only use that lift method for off road use and hasty tow. Great video though. These rigs are best
This might be the sketchiest shit on CZcams. lol....I would have loved to have been along for the adventure. Huge ass army truck towing another huge ass army truck WITH a Camaro on the back. Had I seen that passing by me I would have spit my coffee out all over the windshield laughing my ass off. That setup MUST have broken at least 7 different laws including 2 laws of physics.
It's worth noting that this is a MK48 LVS, not a HEMTT. HEMTTs are an entirely different platform, though they look similar, and the HEMTTs don't pivot in the middle, nor can they swap back ends.
How sketchy was the few hundred miles with just the power unit? Any hills? I might have to store my trailer 20 miles from my house, so if it's doable to drive that distance I will.
what an awesome adventure!
Looks like the 4 rear tyres pressure should have been higher for the very heavy loading you were putting on them! Very interesting video. Pity about the quality of recording though?
How far did you drive just the power unit? You looked to be hauling in that one drive by!
I love my M977 HEMTT, one of the handiest vehicles we have on the farm!
He drove 300 miles with the power unit to pick up the rest.
Robert Baratheon Y'all got some serious nuts in your sacks!!! I've done some crazy fuckin stuff in my days (and I ain't done yet), but I wouldn't even dare drivin a sole power unit anything over 35mph! Fuck them apples
That is crazy! I suppose a lot of anticipation when it came to stops etc.
That is hella awesome. Always loved the LVS and would love to have my own someday
This is NOT an Army HEMTT but is in fact a USMC MK48 (Mark48) LVS "Dragon Wagon", ask any Marine who served from the '80's to the early 2K and they will tell you.
Haha YES DRAGON WAGON. Especially when your in the MK48/16 M870
Amazing video, thanks for sharing.
This is amazing
AWSOME VIDEO!!!
Some people have all the fun.Jealous.Keep it up guys, live the life.
hell yeah
Are you gonna build a powerstroke mustang?
@@PorscheFan89 i already follow him. But him and what this guy does are complete different species
that camaro is more savage than tuerck's 458 Toyota
i love The videos
Where would someone keep vehicles that size. Tires for those trucks are expensive. Great trucks.
out fucking standing!!
What website did you buy the truck off of
Man that looks like a good time! Where do I sign up?
That mustve been stressful! Any new projects!
Would you ever sell
как же смешно выглядит прицеп подцепленный к камаро) и автобус везущий арбузы)
Now that's a road trip :)
I’ve got a flatbed with my MK48 but would kill for a water and diesel tank. I bought a M1070 dump truck a couple years ago, kinda wish I hadn’t. I had an opportunity around the same time to buy a practically brand new MK48 and didn’t. I regret it now.
You have the MK48/14 version
What happened to this channel? There is liteally a perfectly made 4k video on here but then this is the most recent video that has dog crap quality. Plus they have't uploaded in 3 years.
Yeah what happened
LOL, I'M so fuckin'jealous Bro, gotta love Mk48s
If you was one of my Marines, I would send you back to wrecker scholl. Using a 5 ton tow bar to tow a 22 1/2 ton truck. Hooked up wrong and not even hooked to the tow shackles.
Rah?
Definitely the wrong tow bar for LVS if I remember the LVS tow bar was made from 4x4 square stock
And was heavy as fk
It was and stored in three heavy a$$ peices!!
off road tyres on highway with high speed and long roll time demaged...this tyres designed for all terrain, but not concrete and asphalt road and long time roll.....
Where is the 6.0 Powerstroke mustang now???
Hey that MK48 looks more stable than a FJ40 Land Cruiser going down the road.. wider tires probably has something to do with it. I made the mistake of driving a fiberglass bodied 66 FJ 45 miles one day.. never again. Not only was that thing a bucking bronco as the springs were FAR too stiff for that little weight (even with a gnarly thick cage in it) driving past/getting passed by big rigs made the thing turn like crazy. Those things are not made for the highway.
Thought the truck would come with one
What happened to your CZcams broo
i was a 91 bravo in army i uae to drive the hemet wrecker everyday
Then you should know this isn't your vehicle. It's an LVS
LVS and M984 are not the same.
How much would you charge to put a duramax in a 09 malibu
Garage Project Vehicle's do an impala 12' or newer
And another thing you hook the tow bars up in the wrong spot you would have told a hell of a lot better with all Wheels on the ground a tow bar put in the right spot
Come on now at 2 and a half minutes it only takes two people to hook them bloom and towbars up I used to hook them up all the time when I was in the service if you do it right you can even do it with one person
Yeah, never lift tow those suckers. Attach tow bar, hook up air lines, and go.
this is the sexiest beast i ever seen . now i want one
But in general, I wonder why you need such cars? A four-wheel drive all-terrain vehicle, what is the use of it for a civilian in a country with a developed road network?in terms of carrying capacity, this machine loses to a standard civilian truck, in speed it loses, in ease of maintenance it loses, in economy it loses, so what's the point of keeping such a machine?
There is no requirement to "need" it. Looks way more fun than any sports cars or motor homes to me.
Because we can
what use is owning a ferrari or lamborghini when road speed limits mean that a 20 year old beater does the job just as well? what use is going to the bar when you can just drink with friends at home?
the answers are the same as the one to your questions: because we can.
нина симоненко you have no idea what you’re talking about. As I type, I’m sitting in a MK48 dumptruck and it goes places no regular truck can go
Why not.
You overloaded your axle
Um you do realize that the point of the towbar is to tow the truck with ALL of its tires on the ground?
They did after 6 tires
Haha 1.3mpg !! the toys just get bigger with a mans age and wallet!!!!! great vid :-) are these auto's? so the women can drive them too?
All of these trucks have Allison Automatics and the LVSR which is what the USMC still has in use (The LVSR is what put the MK-48 in retirement).
1:14 😎👍
Goals
3 Point Entry And EXIT
how ridiculous the trailer hooked to the Camaro looks like) and the bus carrying watermelons)
Damn a Hemtt. Those things are pretty damn rare. Too bad its not a single body.
That's because it's not a Hemtt. Is the Marine Corps version called an LVS
wow, you have ratchet keys-a healthy guy dancing on a key is kept up, he just jumps on a trampoline) why not just take a hefty pipe and knob (you won't break a rattle at least because it's not there)
It was pretty stupid on your part to put nearly double the weight on the rear tires by lifting the rear truck in actuality the best thing you could have done is purchased a tractor unit and get a very sizeable trailer and put the other truck with the camero on top but things have already been done... but weight ditribution is key and in my state you cant have a single axel weight more than 26,000 pounds tandem axel gross weight 44,000 pounds and gross weight of 90,000 pounds with 48 feet from front load bearibg wheel to the last... so you may have broken some laws that are there to prevent you from doing stuff like this
Clorox Bleach I've got a fealing most deputies see military trucks and figure i ain't messing with gubberment let it roll
Under inflated tires.
$6000 in fuel.
That isn't a hemtt. Its an L.V.S. GET YOUR TRUCKS RIGHT. your also using the wrong tow bar!!!
I have no idea what's happening in these videos all I heard is diesel
Ugly and annoying noise.
