Great list. Picked up a few for my TBR list. And there were about 7 of them I've read. I tried Ghost Road Blues, but just couldn't get into it. I may give that one another try one day.
***screams*** So excited to see NOS4A2 on the list. One of my favorites, and Joe Hill is one of my favorites as well!! ****screams again**** Haunted Mesa!!
Wow I just read Fevre Dream and loved it, and immediately picked up Armageddon Rag as a musician. Also loved the inclusion of the Throat, I think Koko is a masterpiece but that one can’t be far behind! Straub is arguably the best prose writer in horror IMO, but Simmons and McCammon can come pretty close at times. Excellent list as usual, I’m glad I found your channel.
I recently read Fevre Dream as well. Man, I really liked it. Im a musician too, now I'm looking to find Armageddon Rag. You guys have convinced me. Not that it's hard, my tbr is only like 500 books long..
@@bmoneybby My TBR stays unmanageable lol. To be honest I wasn’t expecting much out of Fevre Dream besides a fun read, and I ended up tearing through it in a couple days-it far passed my expectations. I hate to add yet another to your TBR lol, but if you are a musician you absolutely MUST read The Five by Robert McCammon. It is absolutely a 5/5 read
@@virgilflowers9846 Thanks, I'll check it out. I like good "musician" character books. I've never read many now that I'm thinking about it. Edit: Revival by King and Name of the Wind by Rothfuss are the only two coming to mind right now. Huh..
Great list. Love The Keep. Thought it was mostly filmed in Wales? Swansong great, his They Thirst is one of the best vampire novels out there. Always preferred Barker's short stories. His Books of Blood were the best collection of horror short stories I've ever read.
Well. For some reason I thought a lot of the exterior shots anyway were from Berg Hohenwerfen Austria anyway. But then i just re-watched it and couldn't find it. So i confused even myself. I wonder what movie I was thinking of. Anyway. You are right. Inside of the Keep was filmed in a studio in Wales it looks like
My favorite horror novel of all time is The Ceremonies by T.E.D. klein. His collection of 4 stories Dark Gods is also great. Thats the only things hes written but is a master. May second favorite is Ghost Story by Peter Straub. Good video.
Very informative - Your videos are top notch - I am just getting into Horror and Sci-fi (not fantasy yet) and would appreciate some recommendations on entry level sci-fi. I just read Ben Bova's COLONY as my first Sci-fi novel and it was pretty good. Finished it in 2 days. Appreciate any help you could give. Thanks, and keep the reviews and best of lists coming.
I love that series. Now, I will say Speaks the Nightbird starts off a little slower than the rest of the books in the series, but it is well worth it. McCammon sets the scene beautifully. This was the first book of his that I have read, and I had no idea he was a big horror author prior to that. Then, I was floored when I discovered he lives here in Birmingham, AL. After reading the Corbit series, I have branched out and read the rest of his work. Great stuff!
Necroscope series should be way higher. Hmm. You mentioned 6 sense. Wonder where they got the Idea from. Could it be Necroscope ? Dean Koontz Odd Thomas ...wonder where that idea came from...could it be Necroscope? What Vampires are more different, and original than the Necroscope series?
Ok, we have the same tastes apparently. I love Stephen King, Dan Simmons, Clive Barker, Dean Koontz and Thomas Harris. I’m going to try some of the others you have on your list.
Brian, have your read the Joe Pitt series by Charlie Huston? It works better as an audiobook as the written book sometimes gets confusing as to who is speaking but LOVED this series. The Stand still ranks as my favorite all around book. Just read it for the first time this year. Was kind of turned off by the TV series. Nothing like the book.
Great list. I understand why people like The Stand, but for me, It will probably always be my favorite by Sai King as well as my favorite horror novel in general. Pennywise is just so good. The Stand feels pretty boring and anticlimactic in my opinion when compared with others on this list but to each their own!
Hey McDurf 😎 curious collection you got there watch out for the Bibliocrypts 😱. But do you mean🧐 Ann Rice' 🦇 INTERVIEW with a VAMPIRE 🤨 didn't cut it, at least just for it's lyrical value?! I just llllooooovvvvve❤️❤️❤️ Stephen King....I adore that guy. He is a master of storytelling. Though I don't really dig his prose, his stories are good enough to keep me distracted from the fact and still give me enjoyment. The Stand is my particular favourite.
