I'm glad to see my old "bucket" (USS MIDWAY [CV-41]) shown repeatedly in your video. She was so old, she missed World War II by ONLY a few months, "IF" NOT weeks. As old as she was she served longer than any U.S. aircraft carrier to date, ...AND worked harder than ANY other aircraft carrier. When I was onboard she was FORWARD-DEPLOYED out of Yokosuka, Japan. We are said to see more water in 6 months than any other carrier would see in 2 years, ..BUT she NEVER/RARELY got credit for allot of her efforts (Though MIDWAY escorted the ENTERPRISE during the filming of the movie TOP GUN, you DON'T see MIDWAY anywhere in the movie. UNREQUITED FAME again, huh?.)
A good friend of mine spent a tour on the Midway in the Vietnam War in the mid-60's. One very scary incident occurred when he was crossing the flight deck in rainy weather as a fighter turned to get into position on the port cat. As it turned into position, it's jet-wash swept across the aft portion of he deck and my friend Curly was blown off his feet and sent tumbling toward the aft end of the flight deck. As he was rolling and tumbling across the deck, he was grabbing at anything he could, finally hooking a couple of fingers in one of the deck "cut-outs" used to tie down the planes. That slowed him enough to get a better grip and saved his life. The crew were not supposed to cross the deck during fight ops but occasionally they would take a short cut, to avoid the long route down a deck or two and across to the other side of the ship. Curly NEVER took that short cut again and he NEVER forgot that incident!!
I live in Southern California and am lucky enough to be able to visit the Midway rather frequently before the pandemic. A truly amazing ship with an exemplary service record, although some of your claims are subjective (Hardest working) or simple falsehoods, (Longest serving) It is nonetheless a wonderful ship and one of my favorite places to visit.

While talking about the Indian ship, from time 2:35 for about 5 seconds they show the picture of a completely different type of ship. Same at 10:25, talking about the French carrier Charles De Gaulle and showing a photo of the US Carrier Dwight D Eisenhower CVN-69. Same at 12:18, another photo of the Eisenhower while talking about the British ship Queen Elizabeth. Boy, got all that stuff wrong about the Bush and the Ford. The Nimitz is the longest carrier at 1115 ft in length, ALL the rest including the Gerald R Ford are exactly the same at 1092 ft. At least two of the Nimitz carriers weigh less than the 100,000 tons that is stated for the Fords Full displacement. Other than that the specifications for every carrier since the Nimitz CVN-68 including Ford and Kennedy are the same for length and width with some variations in light weight, dead weight and full displacement.
Great and insightful comment for the most part, but the Enterprise was slightly longer that the Ford and Nimitz classes at 1,123 ft long, and the Nimitz, is as far as I can find, 1,092 ft long, slightly shorter than the Ford's 1,106 ft.
@@luked7525 COMPLETLY INCORRECT! I used to work at the US Carrier Planning yard before I moved on to other work for Naval Sea Systems Command. I still work with US aircraft carriers and have been for 44 years and 5 months. NO US CVN class aircraft carrier has EVER been lengthened. The 0nly thing that has ever been done to any CVN that would affect it length is once all aircraft were built with, and were launched using the aircrafts built in launch bar and none were still being launched using bridles all the carriers bow prongs were removed because no longer required to catch the bridles..

Whats wrong with rhe Queen Elizabeth? It requires 4x less personnel to operate it. Its the only carrier with separate islands both capable of independently steering the ship. Its also the cheapest to run whilst still holding its own against the bigger carriers. It makes the de galle look antiquated! Did you just look at the pictures and make your judgement?
My only comment is on the top speed rating. The Nimitz class carries will cruise at 45 knots easyyyyy, and I could only guess at their maximums. I have friends in the Navy, those nuclear reactors crank out so much power, its actually really tough for the rest of the fleet to keep up if she goes to flank speed.

no such thing as a secret aircraft carrier, the guy is an idiot if he said that. carriers are designed to do the opposite of "secretive" they project power globally in plain sight as a forward presence to deter war.
Why? Battle ships became obsolete during WW2. The big 16 inch guns only have 22 miles of range. They are too easy to hit, and light up on targeting radars like christmas trees.
First mistake is that the INS Vikramaditya was not based on the Kiev Class, it was supposed to be the replacement for the Kiev class ships... as stated in the video it was originally named the Admiral Ghorskov and as the 1st ship of the new class, the class name for the USSR/Russians would have Admiral Ghorskov too (ship classes retain the name of the 1st ship of that class).
Update : Russia's carrier caught fire while docked for the repairs spoken about in this video. Some estimates put the repair cost for the fire at 1.5 billion dollars.
UK have the best navel ships in the world at the moment, since they are an island country, they heavily focus on Navy and Air Power more than land base warfare, and US has the most powerful navy mostly because the number of aircraft carrier they have in their fleet. and this is not about which country have the most aircraft carrier in their fleet, is about the best.

Interesting video. Kind of wonky on some of the video presentation. For example there are some instances where the HMS QUEEN ELIZEBETH swaps its ski jump ramp from the Port to Starboard side of the ship (and the two islands obviously are swapped at the same time from the Starboard to Port). There are also a couple of instances in the middle of the CHARLES DEGAULE section, where pictures of the USS DWIGHT D EISENHOWER are used instead. These are of course merely oversights and lack of attention to detail. I'd also have to agree with some of the below comments that inclusion of the US Navy's LHA and LHDs would be appropriate given they are JUST as capable as the other STOVL carriers included in the list. To keep it at "10" I would have substituted the USS AMERICA (LHA) for the USS FORD (a ship that has yet to execute its first deployment). However, overall I'd say it is a NICE run down of the world's aircraft carriers.
@Bull Durham No shit Sherlock. Considering that it can often take over ten years to get from design, through approval, being laid down, built, outfitted, going through sea trials and finally commissioned, I'd guess that, (assuming it'll ever happen) we're ten to twenty years away from seeing one.
I think it's time the USA stops spending our tax funds defending the EU and use the savings to put a few more Carriers out in the Pacific. I was surprised that they ever had F-18s, the French are so well known for using their own defence contractors that they removed the French word for "Protectionism" from the dictionary, jus' kiddin' 😉
The very proud French, to their credit, have never been immune to using foreign aircraft. Already in the 1930's they had US Curtiss fighters in addition to their own Moniers. After WWII the French military had Grumman F6f Hellcats and Corsairs which they used extensively in Vietnam. The French navy flew F-8 Crusaders long after the US navy traded theirs for Tomcats. The Charles de Gaulle is the flagship of the French Navy (Marine Nationale) and operates a complement of Dassault Rafale M and E‑2C "Hawkeye" aircraft, EC725 Caracal and AS532 Cougar helicopters for combat search and rescue. I suppose a C-2 Greyhound could visit the French carrier for it is a CATOBAR-type carrier.

@@luked7525 Officially the Enterprise is 1088 Ft.
@@dougmahone As built she was 1,088 ft long, but was lengthened to 1,123 ft by the end of her career.
Pronunciation!! Please, if you're going to continue doing this, take time to learn to pronounce names and places you were introduced to in high school. Charles de Gaulle? Bosphorous? Gratefully.

Interesting. I'll take a look.

The narrator actually hopes the Russian Carrier is a successful refurbishment.

Yeah ... the title is a little confusing.
If your list is "10 best aircraft carriers in the world", You'll find all of them in the US Navy.
Nope because half of the best naval ships are actually in UK and mid-east as they have more ocean.
UK's QE class is superior to the older nimitz class so they'd take 2nd and 3rd spot behind the Ford

Lethality, wow robots r unique
So NOT secret aircraft carriers then turned off after 1 min due to false advertisement

Considering that it can often take over ten years to get from design, through approval, being laid down, built, outfitted, going through sea trials and finally commissioned, I'd guess that, (assuming it'll ever happen) we're ten to twenty years away from seeing one.

The French navy did not retain the F-18's. The opted for the Rafale M. Do your homework.
The F-18's were mainly to plug a hole while the Sea Rafale was being perfected.
