- LEARN KIKONGO | RELIGIOUS WORDS/PHRASES | Lesson 7
Hello Family!
You guys know I have always been passionate about showcasing the amazing culture that Congo has and this video is another step forward to achieving that goal. In today’s video, I teach you some KIKONGO words that you will hear in a religious context. Kikongo was an official Language spoken in the Kingdom of Kongo, which was a Kingdom made of Angola, The Republic of Congo, Gabon, and the Democratic Republic of Congo way before the colonial era. After the colonial era, the countries separated and developed their own versions of the Language. Hence, the version of Kikongo spoken in the DRC is different to the ones spoken in The Republic of Congo and in Angola. I encourage you to learn more about the Kongo Kingdom when you can. Also, I hope you enjoy this video/Lesson; and please Like, Share and Subscribe to the channel for more exciting videos! Enjoy Bana Mboka (Lingala for Homeboys/Homegirls)!!
DISCLAIMER
I am not a professional Kikongo teacher, so the Kikongo I teach you is almost purely-informal and experience-based because I grew up speaking it. I will never knowingly lead you guys astray, but please always feel free to research further and back up what you learn here with other sources when necessary.

Big thanks. 🇨🇬Mfumu : leader, King/Queen.
Thank you so very much sister. You do not know how much this blessed my soul. I personally believe that the African tongues most specifically Kikongo is where the real Hebrew tongue was taken from. This is one of the many reasons that our mother tounge was immediately stripped from us when my ancestors were enslaved here in the US. I had been asking Yah to please help me to learn Kikongo and Swahili with ease. Matondo.
Glad you found this useful, dear :) God bless you
You on the correct path. Relearn your true culture
Check out the writing script called Mandombe. It can be used to write Bantu languages.
It is amazing that one of the Congolese ancestral religion, Palo Mayombe, who has survived in Cuba since 400 years and is a remnant of the ancient knowledge of the Nganga healers, uses similar words, except the our church is the forest.

Glad to hear it😊
From the U.S. living in Kenya and learned swahili but would love to learn KiKongo as we work with people from DRC. I was so surprised by Ndambi = God because in Kiswahili dhambi = sin. Thank you for these helpful videos!

Matondo mingi from the diaspora, the Kenyan one. Kongo is the original home, though also these boundaries were made in Berlin. Where the People are now, after spreading out, should be considered as Kongo, with Mbanza Kongo as the capital...

All the best in school Felicity. Matondo for your videos. You are gaining popularity in the US because many are learning that their African roots tied back to Kongo. I am sharing them as well. Favor and increase to you.

What is Callalloo (Callalu)? It’s a traditional greens/meal in the Caribbean. And what is Kumina?
If you you say kumina it's 100% a kikongo word but you have more words in it, if you part it, but first in one word it can mean in kikongo as " swallow " it can also mean "reach some one or something " it depend on the context.

I would like to learn how to say "ALL PRAISE TO THE MOST HIGH TATA NZAMABI
"ALL PRAISE TO THE MOST HIGH TATA NZAMABI": "Nkembo kua Tata Nzambi kukayengele ...!"
But the translation I just gave to you is pure Kikongo, not Kituba.
But the pure kikongo is no longer universal, as only few kongo people speak it ,the kituba Is now the most speaking kikongo, they are all kikongo, because the kituba and the original kikongo have the same words, the difference is that the original kikongo was dialect speaking into the kongo Kingdom, but the Kingdom of kongo had more dialects, so to allow everyone into the whole kongo kingdom the kituba was created originated from pure kikongo with other mixe of all kongo kingdom, and actually you can communicate better in kituba which is known as kikongo ya l'etat, which mean official kikongo which almost 90% of kongo people's speak in drc,and Brazzaville, but the original kikongo remain now more like a dialect speak only by few people or tribe.
@@boxeknockdown how many people speak Kituba and how many of them speak pure Kikongo? What you say is wrong ... and that way you lead people not to be keen in learning pure Kikongo.
Hello dear, have you stopped making those videos ?
Hello! No, I have not :)

Is there any sources to find congolese male names?
I've seen a post like that on Quora... Here is a copy-paste of the post:
Here are some Kongo and Congolese names.
For boys: Nsaku, Nswadi, Yudi, Kendi, Lari, Akile, Ntoki, Mboya, Nganga, Nazebi, Kinuani, Masiala, Masamba, Samba, Mbazi, Tuti, Kijani.
For girls: Bukonzo, Mona, Mayimuna, Nsayi, Niekese, Ani, Ana, Ane, Mafuta, Ngongolo, Sunda, Nkuka, Kamia, Nzinga, Ntuni, Nsombe, Kimboti, Yawo, Nkenge, Nsona.
For both: Kemia, Kemi, Mfua, Anu, Kabu, Mvita, Lembe, Zola.
Most of the time, you don’t use these names on their own. If you’re talking to someone who is older, you say “Ya+ name”. Ya is the shortened version of “yaya”. It refers to someone who has mastered the sacred fire twice, traditionally, but nowadays, it just refers to someone who’s older. Even one month older than you.
If you’re talking to an older woman ( from your parents’ generation), you go, “ma+ name” ( but this is really weird to say the name of an elder, so you just say “ma”or “mahama”.) If you’re talking to an older man, you say: “mbuta”+ name. As respect goes both way, when older people talk to younger, they call them ”mpangi” or “mpangi”+ name ( which can be used for both genders and mean sister/brother, or sometimes it’s just an endearing term). When really old people talk to toddlers, they call them “nkaka” or “nkoko”( Lingala) to acknowledge that the new baby is an ancestor who is coming back.
“mpangi” is in Kikongo, if you’re speaking Lingala, you will say “ndeko”, in kiswahili, it will be “kaka” or “ndugu” and in tshiluba, it might be “mwanetu wa balume”,etc…
Isnt god in lingala Nzambe. Very similar...
Yes, it’s similar. But there’s also another word for God in pure Lingala/Mongo which is Nzakomba.
