I also liked the drone, if I would think to spend that $5000K on a drone, I would. Yet, as an owner of Mini 2, I still think my drone is pretty enough or even overqualified to watch the 4K footage in a 17" laptop or in Instagram, unless I crash it since it doesn't have obstacle sensors. Like a lot of folks, I was pretty shocked by the price but then I got to thinking. I realize a lot of people have gotten into quads in the last few years and don't have a lot of the real history of them but I first started flying multirotors in 2010 and back then when the original Phantom came out in 2013 at $695, I was blown away. I bought one when it dropped to $350 and it was amazing to me. Now, if you look at what the original cost of the Phantom was and what it was/is capable of and then compare it to what the Mavic 3 costs and what it can do, you will realize that the price is pretty great for that performance. I still have my P1, no camera, battery lasts about 8 minutes, but it had GPS which was so F'in cool and kind of revolutionary at the time. You could fly it with no skill and not have to ride the sticks constantly like all my other birds. Start making a list of all the features on the M3 and all of the things it can do and it will be quite a long list in comparison. Like a 100X the performance and capabilities for a little over 3X the price of the P1. When I started to put it into perspective, maybe I will buy the M3.

    The Drone I Was waiting For, but not since I’ve seen the reviews. To me the 2nd camera is a gimmick, the zoom is cheesy, the price is too high, the BS that DJI said about the new smart controller not working with previous existing drones, the old smart controller not working with the M3 yet isn’t the regular controller with the M3 Ocusync 2? I’m waiting on the M2P vs M3 reviews. ToAll- I recently got my part 107 and need a drive to start working. I've been using the M2 Pro for 2.5 years and it never skipped a beat. Great quality, flight time is enough for me, sensors make it hard enough to crash (if you are not an idiot) and to be honest, I also don't see that much of a difference with the quality of the camera of M3. Now it even looks cheap compared to this one.

    • @ckeledjian
      @ckeledjian Před 2 lety +1

      Agree, I can't see myself using zoom too much. Zoom in/out is what you're forced to do when you can't physically track in/out. But this is a drone! Just fly it in/out, dummy! Use zoom for 'scouting'? Don't really see any benefit. A few more minutes of battery life than the Air 2, I don't care. In real life it doesn't matter much, you carry extra batteries and charge them as they deplete, then go to next location. Full 360 sensors? If you use the drone for aerial views, there's nothing out there, sensors are useless. Only if you want to do forest tracking of a bike, or some action shot like that, which I never do. I'll wait to upgrade my Air 2 and my Mini (which is still best for overseas travel) with the latest generation that will have remote ID for FAA compliance, just before the requirement is enforced and grounds my current drones.

    Jeven those are some amazing stills and the video footage is amazing too for this size drone (dynamic range and detail is great and esp. considering there's no HDR video so this is all color graded from the dlog). great scenery you must have a a ton of fun doing that. actually very glad you did this without prores as this shows what's possible to do just using the compressed (h264 or h265) video. results are stunning.

    Does it even matter anymore when 99% of the world watches content on 5.5 inches of smartphone screen? I appreciate influencers and the manufacturer go to beautiful locations to film, but the harsh reality is most drone owners just film standard commercial, real estate, agricultural .....non dramatic content...which in the end is pretty much consumed on a smartphone screen. Thumbs up to the manufacturer for a new product but i think 100% of people watching footage from this drone on their devices wouldn't even know what shot it.............on 5.5 inches of screen even old school drone footage looks insane.

      Yes what you’re saying makes a lot of sense, but it seems to me like this drone is designed to do high-end cinematic production so that on a big screen where you’re actually in a movie theater, it still looks amazing. You don’t have to have some crazy drone with six motors and a black magic on a super expensive gimbal underneath it to get some really nice footage.

      if you have an airs2 and are a casual filler then yeah. but the main pro for this is the adjustable F-stop and the extra lens. the picture quality is better but for most they wont see the difference. tad bit more dynamic range. the aperture is a big selling point though, no need to fly home to swap out ND's. also bit more stable with the weight and bit more pleasing sound from rotors

    The drone we've been waiting for and can't afford. This drone is completely overpriced for what it is. The upgrades from the mavic 2 to the 3 do not justify the price in any way shape or form. Why they are putting the screen below the thumbs still is beyond me. It makes no sense considering your palms can cover part of the screen while flying. Put the freaking screen back on top!

    Congratulations on a great video. One thing I'd like to ask because I'm not sure I understand the zoom function correctly.
    As I understand it at the moment: when I turn on the explorer mode the drone switches to telephoto camera and here consequently there is a zoom of about 4x and what is important is that without any degradation in quality, so it is like an optical zoom. And if I want an additional zoom option up to 28x zoom, then digital zoom kicks in and there's quality degradation.
    It's important because that's the main reason for me to buy this drone. Thanks in advance, best regards Zoli.
