    The boarding process is great in my opinion. The sooner you check in, the more likely you are to snag a window seat. And if you don't care what seat you get, checking in isn't required anyway.

    I still use Southwest more frequently than the other two. The free bags, great service, and flexible change/cancel policies are quite attractive.
    Yes, the 737-700s have tighter seating than the 737-800s and 737 MAX. However, the legroom on the MAX and the 800s is no doubt better than Alaska - especially those planes with the "heart" interior - those are comparable to JetBlue's regular seating.
    A few winters ago, I flew Buffalo to Fort Lauderdale for $59 each way on Southwest. Unbeatable!
    I also recently needed to fly from Atlanta to New York. All the airlines were running around $200 for the flight - yep, even for Spirit and for Basic Economy on Delta et al.
    Southwest on the other hand...$120 including my bags.
    That was an easy choice!

    I fly quite often and I absolutely love Southwest.Growing up on the West Coast, SWA was my go to airline. I've flown all of the major carriers in the U.S. and they are among the best. Them and Alaska Airlines are by far, my most favorite. I give United a lot of business because they operate a lot out of where I live, whereas Southwest doesn't, and they are probably 3rd. Not a fan of American Airlines at all. I have had too many issues, customer service debacles, and aircraft issues to like them. I've had decent luck with Jetblue, although I always seem to get stuck on their flights with grouchy flight attendants. I'm flying Delta soon and I'm hoping that goes well.

    • @ecoRfan
      @ecoRfan Před 6 lety +1

      Dan True as to Delta, Southwest, and JetBlue, only done one round trip on each of them. Each time resulted in delays, with Delta and JetBlue having the worst. SWA’s schedules are weird: very short turnaround times but pretty slow flight times. Never actually been delayed on American the two round trips I did with them.

    I flew Southwent for the first time recently. Loved everyrhing about this airline. Great low fares, luggage check-in 2 pieces free and no charge for carry on. Friendly employee's. Seats are pretty comfy and you don't have to pay anything for drinks and snacks plus they give you extra drinks and snacks if you ask. I honestly have to say, they are better then most of the other US Airlines.

    I don't understand why Southwest's boarding is considered complex given the multitude of zones and gate-lice crowding that you get from the traditional legacy carriers. I find Southwest's process far neater and simpler.

    The problem with this comparison is that JetBlue and and Alaska/Virgin are niche airlines serving a few lucrative markets, mostly on the west coast, that allow it to provide higher levels of service. Southwest, on the other hand, is a truly national carrier that delivers a consistently pleasant service across the country.

    • @lucasdiaz9966
      @lucasdiaz9966 Před 6 lety +1

      bailorg that’s a horrible argument. JetBlue is literally based in JFK, and had major hubs on many east cost airports, and The California area. Southwest is very uncommon in New York since its lack of routes.

    I'm experienced with WN and I can tell you that I would go out of my way to fly their 737-800 (or now MAX8). The seat pitch on that type is the most generous of any US airline without upgrading to premium, and it has the Sky interior (mood lighting). The 737-700 has really nice and cushy seats but the pitch isn't quite as nice. Also they are not always the cheapest and Basic Economy on any of the other carriers could easily be $100+ less, but the free bags makes it up to me.

      I've flown Southwest a bunch and they're really not bad at all. It's very true that they don't do anything fancy but they also don't do anything wrong. They also seem to be the most consistently friendly and helpful airline. Standard economy class on the legacy carriers is "we will provide the absolute minimum product that will get you to your destination without killing you" whereas Southwest's approach is "we will provide the absolute minimum product that will get you to your destination without your hating it". There is a subtle but important difference there.

EXCEPT you board first only AFTER everyone who needs special assistance or managed to get a blue boarding pass or for people bumped from another flight or people with special status....which basically means I was paying extra to often be the 15th or 20th person to board so I just switched to Alaska so I could get an assigned seat.

    Aaaahhhh... now I see where you got your Economy Week trailer footage with the UAL 737 in formation. Actually you caught him coming up along side you, prior to your shot over the wing. You're on parallel approachs to SFO. I've flown Southwest on occasion. For short flights (an hour or so), its doable. Any longer - uh.... No!
    Longer flights along the West Coast would be Alaska, Virgin or Delta. Longer point to point, if Delta is going my way, its Delta, and Premium Economy (??). I would try Jet Blue, based on your reviews, just out of curiosity.
    Watching your comparison thus far, uh... I'm guessing - Nah.... That's for you to say. Look forward to your comparing the US - Big Three.
    Tony

    As RyanAir is to Ireland, and the rest of Europe; Southwest, and Alaska, are to the United States. Even though Southwest assisted Boeing with the late development and testing, of the Upgraded B-737MAX-8, they weren't the first recipient of the newly designed aircraft. Alaska used to advertise this mantra, of being an exclusively Boeing fleet. Boeing aircraft every time, and all of the time. Now, that isn't accurate, since they've purchased Virgin America, from Sir Richard Branson. Surely everyone has viewed the news, where Boeing is attempting to purchase Brazil-based Embraer Aircraft Corporation. Also, the U.S. is having a tariff battle over Bombardier, of Canada, because DELTA, has just ordered 100 aircraft of the new CS series, from Bombardier, and Boeing objected to the Federal Trade Commission, seeking a large entry tariff to Bombardier for supplying those aircraft to DELTA. DELTA, says they might wait to accept delivery until the new Bombardier Aircraft plant in Alabama is up and running. I'm thinking Boeing feels they're being snubbed by the DELTA Board of Directors. and the CEO.

      Duh! You need to pay more attention, and you should be able to understand. If you can't, then I'll go one step further, with some additional instances my bright fellow. Someone further down in the comments suggested a comparison of different European low-cost carriers. In Europe, RYANAIR, and EZJET are the most prolific. Here, in the U.S. this goes to Southwest, and Alaska, both of the U.S. low-cost, carriers fly versions of the Boeing B-737, and now the B-737MAX-8. In Europe, RYANAIR Flys the B-737-800 NG, and EZJET Flys the AIRBUS A-319, & A-320, and possibly the A-320-NEO. The rest of the information contained in the comment was just for enlightenment. Hopefully you can comprehend, but if not, I know I have attemped to educate.
