One thing to take into account is, despite a kit lens offers a versatile zoom range right in the beginning, it can help you to find out over time which focal length comforts you, as a clue to what fixed focal length you should get to take your photography further.
kit lenses for people like me are miles better than what we are moving on from-- typically point and shoots or most of the time just a smartphone. so, any criticism is unnecessary. especially considering the price. also, the range of focal length is good for beginners as it will allow us to learn more about how the framing changes at different focal lengths.
Thank you so much😊, this surely cleared my doubts
Just bought A6400 with kit lens. I heard kit lens is not really good. But after seeing the picture, I guess the lens is not the problem, is the user. If you know how to used it, no matter what lens, it still will come out with great picture. Great video by the way. Its eye opening. I'm thinking to get Sigma 24-70 f2.8.
went with your advice!! got this cuz it’s more affordable and now i begin my new journey! hope to do big things and you’re one of the people that i’ll watch to help guide me in my experiences
Appreciate that you taking time to show us that we do can take fairly good photo. As beginner, I want to start with kit lens whole find out what's best for me next. This is super helpful.
Just got this kit as first camera and this video shows that anyone can do just as much as beginners like me want, thanks lad.
Great video! Thanks for this, very educational, fun watch, learned a alot. The a6400 with kit is all I have right now and learning to use the kit is giving me an idea of what first lenses I will get in the future. Your shots are really good!
The review I’ve been looking for. Although I wanted to now how it performed during low light or night shots. Other than that, this was wonderfully done. Thank you
This is exactly what I was looking for, thank you for the great video!!!
A New Subscriber Here!!
This is the best review I've ever seen to the entire CZcams! And now finally because we've got no budget for a contemporary lens for the a6400 now we're getting the kit lens! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Thanks for doing this video. I have the same camera and the same kit lens. I'm just starting out and was rethinking whether or not I should get a new lens or not. Again, thanks!
Great content man! Keep the good job! I want to start in photography and videography, and I think this camera is perfect for a beginner like me, thank you for your content!
The photos are amazing! Beautiful!!!
What a great video mate . I was so confused whether to buy my first canera with a kit lens or try abd find another lens but youre video really did show me that a kit lens will help me learn so much at first . Thank you
Great video. Thanks for the info.
Subscribed.
Thanks. So far the only wide angle option I have for my A6400 is the kit lens. By the way my first lens was as I remember was an Olympus 50mm F1.8 with my Olympus OM10 film camera. Good memories 😊
My first lens is the one you’re using.
You’ve inspired me to stick to it longer.
Been away with my a6400 and kit lens Prague and Gran Canaria and got some great shots when travelling light
my kit lens is a 28-60mm f4-5 for the Sony A7C.. and I just ordered the Sony 85mm 1.8 as my first prime. Thanks for the vid.
I loved that lens when I was shooting with Sony! It's just AMAZING!
Great video Curtis!
Yess! Anyone starting out will be pleasantly Suprised I think! 🤙
I have the Sony lens in your video. My sharpest shots are done in the 24/35mm equiv to 42/65mm and f5.6 To f8. So whats not to like about a 35-65 lightweight zoom?
Great video! i particularly love that panning shot of the red car in front of the odeon!!
That was a sharp shot Bela Fistric, almost no blur on the Car, really nice panning with the camera.
Love that small kit lens with the a6400 fits in jacket pocket
Awesome video. Thanks for the information. Exactly what I was looking for. What lens did you use to shoot your video inside the studio? I am about to buy Sony A6400. I do studio style videos for my CZcams channel. Would the kit lens be enough or do you recommend any other lens?
Greetings from Barcelona.
Nice video about this lens..
great video man!
Thanks man!
First camera/lens was a Canon T3i with the 18-55mm. Had an a6400 for a while. Hope to get another one soon. I live the portability of the Sony kit lens. So small! Great job on the video as well.
That's a great startup! A6400 is a banging camera! Thanks Nick! 🤙
Oh cool! The T3i is what I’ve chosen to start with. I have the standard 18-55mm kit lens but have gotten a 50mm 1.8F and telephoto as part of my starting setup for automotive/basic photography. It’s been great so far and can’t wait to learn with the camera.
Just bought a6400 with the kit lens. Gonna try them out for creative shots during the weekends! Thanks for your words of wisdom!
Have a great time shooting! 🤙
What settings did u use for all the pictures u took? Those looks really sharp. I just got my camera today and they look horrible!
great video, very relevant.
Great vid!
where do people get those little charms where a strap would hook up to. i've been tryin to figure out where to get one.
my first, the 16-50mm sony kit
Thank you Curtis
Saludos amigo,
Hi Curtis
I have an Sony A6400 and im really stuck between the picture profiles.
I want to use this camera for vlogging and also for photos but im an absolute beginner and have no idea on how to get the color working in my favor. I feel like theres no flexibility from filming indoors and walking outdoor. Pls help!
What lens do you recommend for outdoor shooting of models.
Quality post, well paced; three panel images work well, Curtis! Subject lens was my first Sony, on an A6000 - good “training wheels”, acceptable image quality. Firmware makes up for optical limitations. To see this, in LR disable lens correction and notice change in image distortion. Lens profile does the job. Do likewise for other non-kit lenses and you should see less of a difference. (BTW, looks like sun came out after all.😁) Cheers!
Thanks Paul, couldn't agree more. Superb start up lens and A6000 for photography still holds up by today's standard 👍
a6400 with 18-135mm is an amazing starting combo. You can do so much before reaching the limitations.
I have this lens, what do you suggest to pair with it, I’m also looking to get into gimbal videos as well and I’m not sure if the 18-135mm is to heavy for the gimbal I’m looking for or not
Why my photos are kinda blurry not usable photos in just some slightly movement im a beginner do i have to change any settings? Thanks
Cool Video. I have a Sony/Zeiss 35mmF2.8. And greetings from the rainy North Germany.
If you are a best photographer... whatever you have you will get the the best picture... its the theory of him.. you are the best man.. nice skills you have
what are you settings for your camera pics and video
I have the Sigma 16/30 f1.4, the Rokinon 12m f2 and the Sony Kit 18-135m. I find my self always carrying the kit because of convenience. If I know I'll be shooting in darker hours, I take my tripod to setup a longer shutter to compensate for the lack of fstops. I just feel really restricted whenever I carry any of my primes. Sure they ate sharper but In the end, I think the photos should tell the story not the quality.
Which is the best all around lens you would recommend for the a6400??
Ooooooo, thx for the shoutout Curtis 👍
Is it possible on sony a6400 with kit lens 16-50mm set auto compensation shading, chromatic aberration and distortion?
My first kit lens was the Sony 18-135 for the Sony a6400(Package deal). But I don't know if I can call it a kit lens. Still, it's a nice lens when you're starting out.
Shawn Dancy, I got the same lens with my A6400 (18-135mm) as you mentioned, not really a kit lens though. Then I picked up the 18-105 F/4 G for video as well. I like the constant aperture of F4 for my video moments. Have you used any Sigma Lenses on your A6400?
@@williamdavidson1490 i’m starting a youtube channel and wedding videography, was 18-105mm f4 G a good pick for my a6400?
Kit Lens are fine if you going to shoot at the same focal length and same F stop when using better lens. True.. The pro level lenses has better control.. sharpness etc etc. Yes. No doubt. But all that aside... in the end. Still alot depend on alot other settings..eg focus area..etc etc and last but not least post process..
Hi Curtis. Ive enjoyed watching your videos. I own a Sony A6400, I wanted to rekindle my interest in photography. Can you remind me how to send you a photo. Well its the one I didn't actually take. Something activated my door bell to take a picture and I'd like to show it to you.
Is Sony Alpha 6300 at $ 670 used worth it?
Body+ 16-50mm + 55-200mm
Surely will have to invest in 50mm 1.8 as well soon enough if I happen to get that mentioned deal
I am currently using Nikon D3300 with 50mm 1.8 and a 55-200mm kit lens... But there's just way too many limitations when shooting street photography and low light events...
And btw you've got great shots... Subscribed ✌🏻✌🏻
I'm still using my kit lens because I can't afford a new one, but this video keeps me motivated
Can't wait to see the Edinburgh vid next
Ayy thanks, it's gonna be rad! 🤙
I have the same lens which came with my camera. The only thing that let it down for me was variable aperture there was a look I wanted and couldn’t get that.
That being said not that I’m doing more street stuff there no reason why this lens couldn’t achieve good results in the right conditions.
Can you please share what is ur pp setting for the a6400(photography).. Just felt bad for the colour it come out. Please advise.
Everything was on standard but shooting raw 🤙
Nice Video Curtis I don't think I've used my kit lens in about 5 years as well I mainly use my 30mm or 85mm rarely use my 18-300mm lens. My very first lenses were the 30mm and the 18-300mm lens.
What a startup of lenses to have! 🤙
@@CurtisPadley yep I know 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Would you say the 16-50 mm is good enough for model photography, with good lighting?
Hey Curtis, could you please tell me the sweet spot of this lens. Keep growing man 🔥
The sweet spot of this lens is on the camera 😎😂
Rather than a lens, my first "creative" camera was a Canon SX40. I think that type of cameras are called "super zoom" and it says it have 35x zoom and the lens goes from 4.3-150.5mm with 2.7-5.8 aperture and yes, I have find it difficult the variable aperture spoecially at night but I managed to understand better the correlation between focal length, aperture and shutter speed. After some time, I'm moving to the a6400 (whish it was a6700 but I have a budget haha) and a Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 I understand the part of preferred focal length but since I go from street to landscape to subjects and always traveling on a bicycle, I think it's better to have one great lenses that cover some focal lengths rather than have 3 or 4. Also I don't have the budget for that but from my previous shoots I really think that even if I had the budget for prime lenses I might need at least 3 different focal lengths because of the variety of scenarios I find myself sometimes
What lens would you recommend for beginning sports videography ? I just ordered the camera but it only comes with the kit lens
What kinda sports you going to be shooting? 📸🤔
does the kit lens have oss
I'm tight on budget so I bought the a6100 body only, with the sony 50mm fixed at f1.8. But I'm a newbie and and terrible at this, so I didn't made sure that the lens was for aspc and I ended up with a full size sony 50mm 1.8, which translates to 70mm in the sony alpha a6100. It takes mind blowing portraits you wouldn't believe the bokeh. But that was a problem because now I can only shoot at 70mm which is not very flexible, so I went and bought the kit lens for like 40 usd used, and trashed, it doesne even include the lens cap. But it gave me more flexibility for street photography. But you need to know it's limitations, unless you have a steady hand and plenty of time to take pictures at night, you better use it during the day only or very well lit environments, it can't do portraits very well or at all, but for street photography during the day it's an OK lens
Muito bom men me inspirou
I think Kit lenses are okay. But I‘m more than happy to have bought the 24-70 f2.8 p.e. In some situations the Kit lenses aren‘t able to perform that much as the other ones. I think I‘ll challenge myself to go out and just use my Kit lenses…🤔🤔
🤙🏼🤙🏼
I started right off with the sigma 16mm 1.4 lens for CZcams livestreams
Ayy what a great lens to start with! 🤙
Do you use someone preset? Excelent photos, thank you so much bro.
Thanks mate! Yes I sell 143 presets for £15
Is the Sony SEL 18-135 mm F3.5-5.6 OSS a good lens for the Sony a6400 ?
I'd check out the 18-105 mate, that's a great lens! 😁
I recommend nex cameras because you can get almost all of them for under 200
Hey man. I am not a professional photographer.. I want to buy for my travel.. please suggest me Which lens is best for a6400? Which give me best and share photos..
Check out this video I did, this should answer your question! 👌czcams.com/video/6Hfsx7fXa8U/video.html
Hi , I am new to sony a6400.Can anyone tell me why I am getting too much noise in my photo with Sony 6400 ( w 16-50mm kit lens ) at daytime ?
change the quality in the camera settings
There are tutorials for the a6400 settings on youtube
Благодарю красавчик!
Next video- pov with the kit lens, please.....
Yessss! 🤙
18-55mm on a Canon EOS Rebel T3
How did you editing photos make with kit lens?
One of his Lightroom presets
Absolutely agree! Kit lenses are a fantastic way to find out exactly what you want to shoot and where to go next!
I bought my first DSLR second hand and the only lens it came with was the 24mm 2.8 Canon pancake lens haha!
Edit: forgot to say. Mustache is muss-tash. Like the thing growing on your face.
Thanks mate!
A prime lens for your first lens is a win!
Haha I kinda bucthed that one LOL!
What are your honest thoughts on kit lenses?
I had the same lens on my dinky little a5100 when I first got into photography, and it was a great starter-upper. I’m glad I moved away from it but I needed to grasp the fundamentals before I could go off remortgaging my parents’ house for a telephoto lens.
Honestly haven't used mine Nikon one since I got prime lenses many moons ago.
Thats all protrait photo sample, that why good picture, what about landscape ?
Sony 16-50 or 18-135 for starting out?
No one
Just buy only camera body then any other lens According to your need but don't buy kit lenses
I've got this camera, but I can't take pics like yours.. this probably means I didn't study how to take pics properly, I'm too immature for it yet
Your pics seems to good to be true compared to other guys review this lens
It probably was before you chucked it about.
No lenses were hurt in the making of this Video 😂
💜👍👍👍👍📷📷
Start giving substitle
*Cough* CZcams captions 😂😂
Well the 16-50 is quite bad with the sharpness, but the 18-135mm ist very nice for a kitlens
Certainly isn't the sharpest lens, but ain't no slouch either. Great for beginners, I haven't used the 18-135 but heard good things
THIS MAN IS MAD SAYING THOSE PHOTOS ARE TERRIBL!!!!!
short answer, no.
Wrong ❌
@@CurtisPadley nuh uh
i use kit lens bcs i dont have money to buy other lens (┬┬﹏┬┬)
