Greetings, all! This longplay covers every track in the game under the Easy difficulty. Spoiler alert: game was not easy at all. The AI is super aggressive. One thing I do want to note is an AUDIO WARNING for those of you wearing headphones - whenever a Stump is used, be prepared for a hell of an audio spike. I don't know what it is about this game, but the audio is all over the place in terms of volume. Anyways, enjoy!
Yeah even on easy, the AI in this game is extremely aggressive. Also, funny how Spongebob gets the largest amount of characters despite it being new at the time of this game's release
I’ve played this game a lot back in the day on my PC and I remember being charmed by it, being a fan of all the Nicktoons that are represented in this game. Looking at this gameplay video, this game is essentially one of many Mario Kart clone racing games that were made over the years. What makes this one unique is the many Nicktoons characters you can play as and the powerups are creative and correspond well with each of the franchises. The controls are a little awkward and do take some getting used to. The graphics are standard for the console it’s on, with the exception of the opening cut scene, which are gorgeous. The music is fine and serves its purpose well, and the gameplay is straightforward racing. While this game doesn’t have a high replay value once beaten, I think it’s worth playing through in order to see the ending where the Mystery Racer character is revealed to be Plankton from SpongeBob SquarePants. Overall, a decent racing game that will provide entertainment for fans of Old School Nicktoons and of Racing Games.
I still have this particular kart racing game for PS1 and even though the PS1 version of Nicktoons Racing was released in 2001, I actually didn't get this game until 2005, just four years after it was released, and I got it from GameStop at the time back when GameStop was still selling PS1 games and also back when they were still known as EB Games as well which I still remember. Since the PS1 version of this game was apparently released on Friday, September 7th, 2001, I also realized too that this game actually came out just four days before 9/11 at the time since 2001 was the same year when 9/11 happened and I was only 10 years old back then.
Fun fact, the Arcade version you were playing all along was just a modified P.C Port in a Windows XP Embedded Machine. So pretty much you can just get the P.C Version with Windows XP and bam, Arcade Version at home "despite it uses Keyboard for the controls"
Throughout the game, I actually knew all along myself too that the Mystery Rider was Plankton the whole time because during the races, you can hear him shout out certain quotes from one of the SpongeBob TV episodes, mostly from the episode "Plankton!" when Plankton made his debut in the series and when I first heard those quotes in the game, they reminded me of Plankton since I remembered that he was the one who said those phrases. I remember one of the quotes that Plankton would shout out in the game was "Come back here, you swine!" and I remember him saying that in the episode "Plankton!" during the part when he sneaked into SpongeBob's head to try to control his brain while SpongeBob was sleeping.
This game here is one of my most favorite kart racing video games for PS1 and I still have Nicktoons Racing too, but only for PS1 though even though I like the PS1 version better anyway, especially since it's also playable on both PS2 and PS3 via backwards compatibility as well. I also really like all of the different Nicktoons characters in this particular racing game even though I mostly just play as SpongeBob though since SpongeBob is my most favorite character of all.
I'll never understand how this game can get so loud (even more when there's a Stump) but the CatDog music is so hard to hear, especially for Rancid Raceway, kinda odd.
This game is a guilty pleasure for me. Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2 and 3 are better games. Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3 is my favorite. At least Nicktoons Racing is better than Nickelodeon Kart Racers 1 though. That game had only 12 characters across 4 different shows. At least Nicktoons Racing had the same amount, but span across from 8 different shows.
Never played it this but it looks fun to Play Characters Used in Game:Tommy, Angelica, Stimpy, Ickis, Arnold, Helga, Norbert and Daggett, Catdog, Eliza, Darwin, Spongebob, Patrick, Plankton/Mystery Rider. This was the period when SpongeBob was new. I do have some of these characters in My AU ✔️ means they came from the game the others are characters not in the Game Spongebob ✔️ Patrick ✔️ Lincoln Clyde Angelica ✔️ Tommy ✔️ Sid Ronnie Anne Catdog ✔️ Extra Slot Plankton ✔️ The Angry Beavers ✔️
